This is like U.S. presidential elections. No sooner do we have a conclusion to a two-year orgy of rumor and speculation than another immediately begins.

But a sampling of analysts turn up some who believe that, sure, Microsoft will follow suit with an Xbox 360 slimline design.

The pros for such a move: If the re-engineering cost can be held down, smaller product means lower costs in shipping, packaging, and more space on the shelf. Also, Microsoft seems to have beaten the RRoD with the Jasper motherboard, but actively marketing "New, more reliable Xbox!" in the same old case rings a bit hollow. A new case gives enough cover for such a campaign.

Cons: Jasper solved RRoD, and so that effort and outlay represents Microsoft's re-engineering of the console; marketing "new more reliable Xbox!" diminishes and reminds the existing installation base it has the "old, less reliable Xbox!" And aside from the me-tooism, Microsoft's better bet is in selling different hard drive configurations - and a 360 slim would likely require either its own line of removable drives, or have an internal-only unit.

That said, here's your cheerleader for a 360 slim: David Cole, DFC Intelligence, speaking to Industry Gamers.

"I think it is a question of when not if. However, the when part is a big uncertainty...rumors have been going on for a long time. I think people were asking me the same question last year at this time. As cost efficiencies allow smaller and more reliable is always a good thing. However, you also have something like Project Natal which could also tie in with hardware redesigns. There are a lot of questions Microsoft must weigh internally and there are always going to arguments on both sides of the fence around timing. So I don't know, but in our DFC forecasts we anticipated a major redesign in 2010 ....so I guess that was our bet."

Yes, great awesome. Now please start sending all your faeks, hoaxes, shakycams and shoops to our tips box.

According to a Twitter tipster, this right here is the official Zune HD packaging. It's pretty much the same as previous Zune boxes, but with color, because the Zune HD is the rainbow of the Zune family.

    News/release from SpartanX2X

Ah, yes, after 8 months of being in development, I am proud to announce the release of my latest mod "dawn".

The premise of dawn is simple. The year is 2023, the gangs of New York have allied to form a crime Syndicate. Their goal is to slowly expand their territory and control as much of New York as possible. They have been winning battles against the military, so the government has set up a new unit. The ASU (Anti-Syndicate Unit). The ASU is comprised of the most elite soldiers from around the country. Unfortunately, they are few in numbers due to this. Thus they frequently receive help from local authorities and the military.

Now, all that is for, is to let the mod make a little more sense to you, it's other purpose was to give me a framework for all of my ideas instead of the mod being a jumbled mess.

This mod, is a total conversion mod, meaning nearly everything that can be changed in CSPSP without the source, has been changed. There is various hex editing, all the gfx have been changed, and all the sounds have been changed.

The gfx were completely from the top of my head. I used source images for a few weapons such as the Mini-Pump, but most I drew on graph paper and ported them over, or drew by hand in photoshop. The sounds are from all over, a few of them are actually made by me, while the majority of them are from various mods for older PC games such as BF1942 and MOHAA.

During Dawns development I started a "dawnzeff" competition. The competition was to see who could make the best "danzeff input system" theme for Dawn. And the Winner is..... Doublehawk! His danzeff was very very complicated. Not only did he use my mods font (Birth of a Hero), but he also managed to make it look so dam slick!

I am proud to announce that Dawn is the first mod that is interchangeable. With the CSPSPC download of dawn, you will be able to use one map folder, for both dawn, and another version of CSPSP. This means a couple things. For one, you don't have to redownload maps when you switch mods! Another thing, is that it saves you TONS of disk space, because as hardcore players of CSPSP will know, having 700 maps ends up taking a bit of space.

NOTE: The CSPSPC Dawn release contains dawn and the ORIGINAL CSPSP. If you wish to switch it out for another mod, simply copy the contents of the mods folder into the "Dawn mod 4 CSPSP v1.0" folder under "PSP", then edit the "MODS.TXT" in the CSPSPC folder (which is in the game folder) to include your mod!

Since PS3 Slim was officially announced at Gamescon, we have known that the Linux option has been deleted from that new hardware, and well, after the wtf time, we decided to look back to the past and see what's behind us, so we could find an answer for this strange decision.

First of all, answering some e-mails, the absence of Linux (OtherOS) option is _not_ a software thing, but a hardware removal, a specific hardware that selects directly a different booting sequence. Let's take a look, then, to our past:

    - PlayStation 2 was released 4th of March of 2000 in Japan, and it was since April 1999 when the rumours were starting, just like all those other consoles in our history.

    - PlayStation 2 "Slim" (or V12 or SCPH-70000) was released on September 2004, and it was, indeed slimmer and thiner.

So, we have a PS2 that can work with Linux, but when Slim option was released, an specific package that was released, a "Linux Kit" was no longer usable, even though this "kit" was created in order to standardize and to make official the GNU/Linux Option for PlayStation 2.

This kit consisted on a HD of 40GB, an Ethernet adapter, a mouse and an USB-kb, as well as an VGA cable and a defined GNU/Linux OS for PS2. As you might remember, even a dedicated distro was released in order to help programming, called Black Rhino, but well, let's continue.

    - PlayStation 3 was released on 11st of November of 2006 in Japan, preceded by all those rumours, once again.

    - PlayStation 3 "Slim" was announced this 18th of August of 2009, slimmer, thiner, ... and without Linux.

So, it would be probably that the next step is that PlayStation 3 "Linux Kit" is released in the future. This would indeed solve this problem, and it would allow them to make all this official, even though it might be needed for IBM to co-operate on this so the Cell SDK is again updated and it's available for it.

But, if we take a look at the new Slim model, we can go to some conclusions:

    - New and more powerful CPU. 45nm Cell-based, and it's said to be faster, cooler and, indeed, powerful. What could be done with this? More efficient apps, and, if we could wish for something, what about that software retro-compatibility with PS2, now that we can?

    - RSX is still closed. Boooh. Well, if you want to work with it, just use a Cluster or get an CellBlade. :-3

    - The strange future for Linux on PS3. Well, we have been talking about it here, but let's be serious, there is a pretty little number of people that indeed use Linux on PS3. It might happen like on PS2, in where we were all asking for the Linux Kit, but it wasn't used in the end.

    - Is this really "slim"? I've read somewhere that they should call it PSThree or something, as this is not slim, lol. Maybe we can expect other hardware release with an extra-slim PS3? Lol, just kidding, but it would be funny.

Personally, i won't sell my JAP "Phat" PS3 to buy one of these Slim. But, i bet that there will be more that one that will do that exchange, having in mind what we have left behind, and what might come in the future.

(However, "Phat" is not the correct term, as the original PS3 is called "PLAYSTATION 3", and the Slim is called "Playstation 3". Caps time.)

    Opinions, ideas, cakes?

The coder ClassG updates its plugin macrophytes which leads to version 3.0.5. For those who do not know, I remember that macrophytes combo allows you to store more keys and execute them by pressing only one, and also allows you to change the sensitivity of analogue and set the autofire for a key.
