Microsoft's Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 and Wii in the Japanese hardware charts, according to Media Create, benefiting from the debut of Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope which took first place in the region's software chart.

The Square Enix title for the Xbox 360 displaced last week's top seller, Mario & Luigi RPG 3 for the DS, pushing it into second place.

PlayStation Portable title Idolmaster Sp took three consecutive places with its iterations Perfect Sun, Missing Moon and Wandering Star at third, fourth and fifth place respectively.

Shining Force Feather on the DS also debuted during the week, taking sixth place, followed by Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (PSP the Best) at number seven and, another debut title, Sacred Blaze on the PSP at eight.

Meanwhile, Street Fighter IV for the PS3 slipped from second place to ninth, and Demon's Souls, also for the PS3, came in tenth.

The region saw the Nintendo DS platform dominates sales at 51,814 units, breaking down into 41,839 DSi sales and 9,975 DS Lite sales, while Sony's PSP followed behind at 29,552 units.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 led the home console sales with 25,334 units, beating out the Wii at 16,973 units and PS3 at 16,149 units, as well as the PlayStation 2 which lagged behind at 5029 units.

    Japanese software chart follows:

Nokia made plenty of folks happy with its decision to include Skype on its new N97 handset, and future N-series devices, but it looks like the usual cadre of UK carriers aren't among them, and they're now making their displeasure quite clear. That includes O2 and Orange, who are apparently threatening to refuse stock of the N97 unless Nokia strips out the Skype client, a point they have reportedly made directly to Nokia in "high-level discussions." Another unnamed "operator source" was apparently even more blunt, saying that this is "another example of them trying to build an ecosystem that is all about Nokia and reduces the operator to a dumb pipe," adding that, "some people like 3 may be in a position where it could make sense to accept that. But if you spend upwards of £40m per year building your brand, you don't want to be just a dumb pipe do you?" For its part, Nokia seems to be staying mum on the matter for the time being, though it's tough to see a handset like the N97 just sitting on the shelf, so it seems like one party or the other will have to give sooner or later.

Jamie Fuller has created a funny and pretty useless (but fully functional) application for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic: old fashioned Rotary Dialer you can use to dial numbers instead of the numeric keypad if you miss the analogue era The application even uses the vibration for realistic effects.

How bout CSI Miami full episodes streamed to your iPhone, legally... for free? CBS Interactive's TV.com give you just that. There aren't a ton of shows up yet (at least not full episodes), but CSI, Star Trek (the original!), and Gossip Girl (you know you've seen it) are all there.

TV.com (its an app, AND a website!) allows you to create "feeds" of shows you'd like based on keywords. You put in a few shows you like or terms, and the app creates a specialized feed of content you'd enjoy.

I'm sure more full shows will be coming quickly.

The app works over WiFi or 3G, and is available now for the low low price of free in the AppStore.

The iPhone (2.2 +) comes pre-loaded with Emoji icons but the menus to turn them on aren't enabled. If you aren't familiar with Emoji icons they are popular pictures/emotions used in Japanese wireless messages. The iPhone comes pre-loaded with these little icons but the menus are disabled.

Aside from the Cydia download to enable them there are many applications on the AppStore like Typing Genius ($0.99) and Spell Number (free) that enable these Emoji icons. Apple doesn't seem to like developers on the AppStore enabling this Easter egg on its devices. Apple removed the application

Back in January we covered ZumoDrive Beta cloud storage and then showed a first look of their iPhone App. As of earlier this week ZumoDrive has gone from beta to public and made some major updates to the service while they were at it.

With the beta I had two major issues. The pricing was a concern with 70GB of cloud storage running a whopping $20.99/mo. Many others also voiced their opinions about the pricing and the folks at ZumoDrive listened. While pricing is still slightly higher than their competitors, the ZumoDrive service is also more innovative making it worthwhile (at least for me and my iTunes library).

Today Ubisoft announced Dawn of Discovery, a real-time strategy and simulation game specifically designed for the Wii home video game system, the Nintendo DS hand held system and PC. Scheduled for release in summer 2009, Dawn of Discovery gives gamers the opportunity to explore new civilizations and build their own empire like never before through the immersive action of the Wii Remote and the DS stylus.

"Dawn of Discovery allows gamers to take the civilization-building experience to the next level of fun and interactivity," said Adam Novickas, director of marketing for Ubisoft. "We're pleased to be bringing the brand new, uniquely designed game to not only the PC and Nintendo DS, but also to Wii for the first time."

Dawn of Discovery takes place in the year 1404, when King George's land is suffering from severe droughts and brutal famine. Aware of his people's distress, the king calls on his two sons, William and Edward, to acquire new territories in order to produce enough goods to satisfy the needs of his empire's inhabitants. Whereas Edward suggests aggressive means to collect the precious resources, his brother William offers a peaceful solution, proposing to explore new and unsettled lands in the south of the kingdom. With his Father's blessing, William heads south to the mysterious Orient and returns with valuable new technologies such as the water pump that allows dry lands to be cultivated in order to produce enough food for the people. But there are still many unmet needs within the king's empire, and players are tasked with the mission of fulfilling those needs while both expanding and sustaining the vast society.
