"Microsoft yesterday unveiled its MSN Mobile Music service - and a surprise return to digital rights management (DRM). While companies such as Apple and Amazon have finally moved to music download services free of copy protection, MSN Mobile locks tracks to the mobile handset they are downloaded to."

What in the world are they smoking over there in the UK? You can't transfer songs between your phone and PC, the price is nearly double that of DRM free music from iTunes, and the music is not transferable to a new phone. I kid you not! You have to read the Q&A between PC Pro Magazine and Hugh Griffiths, the head of Mobile Music. This is not a question of will this service survive, but in how many months will it totally implode unless someone gets bopped with a clue-stick.

How many of our UK friends are chomping at the bit to purchase songs for £1.50. For those of us in the US, that is $2.21 at today's exchange rate.

When it was released earlier last year, Burnout Paradise set a new standard of vehicular mayhem, and Criterion Games increased the car carnage by supporting the game with additional content. According to Criterion's website, on February 6, the two latest packs for the game will be released to further improve the racing (and crashing) experience. The first pack is known as the Party Pack, and will allow you and up to seven other friends to play through stunt, speed and skill challenges to see who's the best racer in your group. Stunt challenges will involve jumps and tricks, while Speed challenges have quick time trials and time tests and Skill Challenges focus on racing through oncoming traffic and drifting. The Party Pack will be a premium pack, although no price was revealed on the website.

The second pack will be free, and will feature a large number of adjustments. The first is the inclusion of a Burnout Paradise Store, which will allow players to purchase any of the upcoming content for the game without having to back out of the game itself. This will include items like the Legendary Cars or Island packs when they become available.

Vehicles will receive a significant overhaul, making the handling on the earliest cars more accessible and easier to Burnout newcomers. This means these earlier cars will be harder to crash and harder to spin out, but will operate at a slower pace. What's more, players will be able to evaluate the cars that they have in the Junkyard, making it easier to choose the right car based on its stats. Cars will also naturally right themselves in the midst of a barrel roll if you hit a split ramp. The Stunt Run Timer has been adjusted to run slower, while the difficulty of all events in the game has been modified to take the new car speeds into effect.

Road Rage has received an overhaul, removing the time that's added whenever you hit the target number of cars. That will make it much harder for people to exploit the mode to rack up larger scores. Objects that you can interact with in the Burnout world have been redesigned, so Billboards will show up as Red, Smashes will be yellow and Super Jumps will be blue. These objects will also pulse, which should help you discover where they are and take advantage of them in the game.

Finally, a long awaited change is the inclusion of restarting an event. Previously, there was no way to immediately restart a race or event, forcing you to start all over from the beginning. That could be extremely inconvenient, especially if you'd made a mistake halfway across a city spanning race. Now, you no longer have to drive all the way back to the starting location. Instead, you'll instantly warp back to the start and leap back into the race. Finally, PS3 and PC players will discover an exclusive feature: an in-game browser that is designed to bring a new feature to the game known as the Criterion Games Network, which will be explained by Criterion Games next week.

The 40GB PS3 does fully support all PS2 games and plays them without any problems. It is just not unlocked for the retail consoles. One hint for the sooner or later release of a patch which allows full software emulation is the unlocked PS2 games support in the newest debug and factory firmwares.

Here a video of a 40GB PS3 running in factory mode:

In a financial statement released today, Ubisoft confirmed that it is working on new titles in the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and Assassin's Creed series.

There's no specific date set for the games' release, but Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the next Ghost Recon game and Assassin's Creed 2 are targeted for the company's 2009-2010 fiscal year. That means anywhere from March 2009 through February 2010.

Gamers can also expect the next installment in the Splinter Cell franchise, Splinter Cell Conviction, during that general time frame, Guillemot said. Conviction was previously announced as a Q2 2009 release.

Ubisoft also gave some guidance on the upcoming survival horror game I Am Alive, which is being developed by Darkworks. Yesterday, some gaming Web sites reported that the game is set for a March release, but Ubisoft cast doubt on that today.

"'I Am Alive' will require further development time and will now bolster the line-up for 2009-10," the company said in its financial statement.

A new game in the Anno franchise is also briefly mentioned as being scheduled for fiscal 2009-10. No details were given, but we're assuming this is the PC game Anno 1404. Ubisoft bought the RTS developer Sunflowers, which makes the Anno games, in 2007.

In addition to the recognizable franchises above, Ubisoft also plans to introduce "three new brands" during its 2009-2010 fiscal year, along with a stonger casual games lineup and four licensed games, including James Cameron's Avatar.

    - Levels 5, 7, 8, 10, 13 playable (I'll leave the testing to you lot ;-)

    Tested on:

    - Emulators: no$gba 2.6
    - Flashcards: M3 Real [M3 Sakura Triple Boot V1.12 and M3 Real Firmware V4.0]

    The Game:
Your task will be to guide Murphy (the red smiley) through up to 111 Levels,
evading falling stones ("Zonks"), crazy scissors and more dangers, gather
a set number of infotrons each stage and finally find the Exit block.
Note: This game is HARD (well not for the few levels that work so far)

    Controls - Menu:
    Up/down: Select Level
    A/Start: Start Level

    Controls - Ingame:
    Up/Down/Right/Left: Move Murphy

Select: Selfdestruct (in case you get stuck, which likely will happen quite a lot)

    Known Issues:
    - Not all Objects and Moves are implemented, limiting the number of playable levels
    - Minor animation glitches
    - and many more (but i'm working on it )

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Mega Man Star Force 3 (MMSF3) for Nintendo DS will be coming to North America in early summer 2009. MMSF3 will come in two different versions, Black Ace and Red Joker, allowing two friends to share unique items and powers utilizing the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, enhancing their individual characters.

As in the previous games, MMSF3 is a unique blend of action and role-playing game (RPG), combining the high intensity combat that is the hallmark of Mega Man games with Star Force's strategic battle system. By defeating enemies and boss characters, players earn "battle cards" that enhance and evolve Mega Man's abilities and attacks.

New to MMSF3 are "Noise Changes," random enhancements that change Mega Man's form and unlock new abilities. The two versions of the game, Black Ace and Red Joker, each have over 100 unique Noise Types that can be combined with Mega Man to unlock elemental powers based on earth, air, water and fire. The new Noise feature will add an exciting randomness to battles, encouraging players to explore, collect and battle across the digital world of MMSF3.

In MMSF3, players will travel between the physical world and the digital world via electromagnetic waves that form "wave roads." Geo Stelar, the protagonist of the game, can see these wave roads through usage of his unique "visualiser" tool. Once in the digital world, Geo can merge with the electronic life-form known as Omega-Xis to become Mega Man. The wave roads are being overrun by mysterious "noise" that change the player's environment and powers in different ways. This noise is being generated by an approaching gigantic meteor that threatens both the physical and digital worlds of MMSF3, forcing Geo Stellar and his crew to fight the oncoming threat to save two worlds. Fortunately, Mega Man discovers that he can control the Noise, using the new "Noise Change" system to transform into many different forms, including the ultimate "Black Ace" or "Red Joker" forms. ...
