Arikado has released a new homebrew game for the Nintendo Wii:

Wiibreaker is a simple brickbreaker game I made because my artist for Wii Shooting Gallery, Azza123 said there were no brickbreaker games out for Wii homebrew. Thus, I have created Wiibreaker. In total, this first release took about two weekends to write. Work is further postponed on this game until the completion of Wii Shooting Gallery.

Once the ball falls below the screen 3 times, you lose.

    Controls
LEFT and RIGHT or UP and DOWN on the wiimote to move the paddle.

HOME: Return to the menu or return to the loader from the menu

    Installation
Extract the .zip directly to the inside of your apps folder

THIS GAME IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH THE WIIMOTE, HOMEBREW CAHNNEL, AND FRONT SANDISK LOADER!!!

    Version History
0.1 - First private and public release.

    Design Document
I have included a design document in the .zip just for fun. It has everything that I would like to be included in the final release.

    About the source
The source code to this game is available on request. Request it by e-mailing me: [email protected]

This is done to stop clones of my game from spawning all over the internet.

Also of note; the source code is powered by libwiisprite.

    Special Thanks
Thanks to Aaron (Azza123) who gave me the idea for Wiibreaker.

Thanks to the people running the homebrew browser, thus allowing more people to easily run my software.

Thanks to Chaosteil for developing the libwiisprite library.

Thanks to Team Twiizers for originally hacking the Wii.

Thank you to everyone who has downloaded my other application and now Wiibreaker as well. It's an amazing feeling to have; Knowing that people enjoy using your software.

    Final Thoughts
Please share questions comments and ideas with me at: [email protected]

Steve Corey has posted a new version of his Port of Doom for the Nintendo Wii

    Heres the news :

WiiDoom 0.3 is now up for download. I've switched from boot.elf to boot.dol, so delete the elf before putting the new version on your sd card. Here's the changes in this version:

Saving/Loading works (using Nintendo-style save slots)
Messages are now correctly displayed on screen

Automap works (panning, zooming, and follow mode)
Boot.dol distributed instead of Boot.elf (much smaller file)
Preliminary PWAD support (one wad at a time)

Almost everyone who visits DCEmu does because of either Homebrew or Gaming or maybe the free porn jk and in a weeks time the very ambitious Pandora Console goes into Preorder status. The first lucky 3000 will have a console as powerful as the Nintendo Wii, with a DS Clamshell type case, a console that we already know has full speed Amiga, Snes, Megadrive and Final Burn Emulators and most likely many many more that have not been unveiled most likely are GBA, PSX emulators from the likes of ZodTTD and Exophase.

The Console is unlike all before just the creation of Homebrew Fans but homebrew fans with a vision of console not tied down to any overbearing company who want everything their way. The Pandora will be a launch bed for many amateur coders, make no mistake the big gaming companys watch the homebrew community, every homebrew scene is watched and many scenes have coders who themselves are employed to work on the consoles they release homebrew for.

Whilst no one expects the Pandora to dent the PSP or DS if it can entice a new generation of young amateur coders to get a foothold in the gaming community then it makes the homebrew community even more important, think of us as a stepping stone to the commercial gaming world.

The Pandora will if all goes well be like the Dreamcast and the GP2X before it a scene that has many commercial homebrew releases and with a console that is in effect a Pocket PC/Gaming Console Hybrid with TV out, Wifi, Bluetooth its a real mouthwatering system.

Yes i wont get rid of my commercial games systems such as PS3, Wii, DS and PSP (my son owns a 360) but im very much looking forward to a very interesting console and the release will bring even more attention to the world of homebrew and that benefits all the different homebrew scenes, the more we show the world that homebrew is a strong worldwide community spanning every console and every race and that homebrew isnt about piracy then as a massive network of sites we can all benefit from some excellent releases from the very talented coders from around the world.

    ok enough of that :P

I cant be the only one who has more than 1 console or access to many consoles. This week Star Wars Unleashed was released on PS3, PS2, PSP, DS, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and even other platforms, but out of the major platforms which system would be the best to buy it for ?

What makes my mouth water is the Wii version and the talk of using the Wiimote as a light sabre, this alone makes the Wii the favourite but is it as good as it says?

For graphics the PS3, 360 and PSP should be the sweetest to watch it on, whilst the DS with the Stylus should make for a very different gameplay aspect.

So for all of you who have played the game or are going to buy it, which console version is the one to buy ? ...

It seems like we these "health researchers using Wii in study" stories about once a month but, anyway, Oxford University, last I heard, was a pretty good school. And they're looking at the Wii as a means to help stroke patients relearn simple tasks.

The study is a little more subtle than other research involving the Wii (training surgeons, for example) — the motion sensors might be useful for monitoring patients' progress in physiotherapy. Apparently, one of the biggest challenges patients face is constant discouragement from not being able to see, or really understand, the progress they're making. The motion sensors can also tailor exercises to a patient's range of motion.

A GP2X conversion of Quirky's GBA port of the Spectrum version of Chaos. (Phew)!

The gameplay should be very similar to the original Spectrum version because a lot of the code was based on Spectrum disassemblies.

    Original code from: www.geocities.com/quirky_2k1

Tweaked and recompiled to run on the GP2X by Ledow.
