    News/release from Amarth

Jump 'n Bump, a cute bunny game with blood, ported to the Wii. This is a multiplayer game. Each player controls a fluffy bunny jumping around in a pleasant environment. The aim is simply to jump on the other bunnies to make them explode in a shower of blood and to increase your score. Fun for the whole family!

    A note about the graphics
Jump 'n Bump runs at the silly resolution of 400x256, a ratio of 25:16. A scaleup option is present in the code to make it run at 800x512, a mode the Wii does not support. I'm not entirely sure what to do with this, so for now I've left it as is, with a huge black border around it. If you can't stand the cuteness anymore, you can look a bit at the black border, representing vileness and death.

Coinciding with Sony's announcements today regarding the PSP-3000's Japanese release, the Japanese press appears to have taken delivery of sample hardware. Both Famitsu.com and Impress Watch have posted comparison shots showing off differences in screen quality and also detailing a few hidden features of the new hardware.

The hidden features are in the firmware. That's right, the PSP-3000 offers users a few bonus options. Famitsu.com makes note of three areas in particular.

The PSP-3000 has a setting for "Color Space" under the system settings section of the XMB. This can be switched between Wide and Normal. Wide exploits the full color depth of the revised hardware, while Normal returns you back to PSP-2000 level color.

The 3000 firmware has an option for Automatic USB Connection. When this is switched on, the PSP switches to USB mode automatically when a USB device is connected.

Finally, the 3000 firmware offers a noise reduction feature for video out. This is used to cut the noise when outputting the PSP's video signal to a television.

Outside of the firmware changes, the Famitsu.com article makes note of some of the changes that players might notice (or might not notice) when doing screen comparisons for themselves. The PSP-3000's screen strengths are most apparent when looking at natural colors such as human skin. However, the differences may not be as apparent with current games. The Famitsu.com article shows a shot of the LocoRoco title screen with the differences barely distinguishable between the two units.

The problem, the site speculates, could be that current games have had their colors fine tuned to look best under the 2000's limited color depth. The site expects future games to fully exploit the PSP-3000 screen's strengths.

The key will be to skillfully use the "angelic" and "wicked" spirits to spray water, oil, slime and other liquids on enemies and surfaces to solve puzzles and wipe out evil. SPRay also features several amusing mini-games in multiplayer mode, where up to four players can challenge themselves in games such as "Paint It!" and "Sticky Chewing Gum."

Got yourself a Japanese Wii? Then connect to the Everybody's Nintendo Channel and you'll find a sweet little present: a demo of Dragon Ball DS, or as its known outside of Japan, Dragon Ball: Origins.

The demo of the latest Dragon Ball game offers players a chance to get used to young Goku's controls. Fully stylus based, the control scheme lets you switch off between hand-to-hand and rod-based combat all the while jumping over chasms and pushing massive rocks and crates out of your way.

Nintendo will be removing the demo on the the 17th, after which (barring the release of a similar demo in the US), you'll have to fly to Japan and make the download at DS Station retail kiosks.
