We've got good news and bad news for fans of Rare's groundbreaking first-person shooter, Goldeneye. The good news? Those rumors you've heard about a port of the game for the Xbox Live Arcade are true! The bad news? The release of the title has been delayed indefinitely, due to a licensing disagreement between Microsoft and Nintendo. Sorry to get your hopes up -- we probably should have led with that last part.

To further rub salt in your wounds, 1UP has some sweet details about the game-that-wasn't, which was only two short months from completion. Apparently, the game was a faithful recreation of the N64 classic, including all the maps and weapons from the original, with the addition of multiplayer support over Xbox Live.

Instead of giving up on what would have been one of the greatest XBLA titles to date, we highly encourage everyone to exercise their civil trolling rights in an attempt to convince Nintendo and Microsoft that there's more than enough of our money to go around. Already, thousands of rabid wannabe 00 Agents have signed petitions to bring the game back to the development table -- have you?

A fancy mirror contraption not quite what you had in mind for video conferencing on your iPhone? Fret not, friends; Ecamm Network is back at it, this time devising a way to stream video from the camera -- at 30fps, no less -- to the Mac of your choice over WiFi. Even better, the clever cats hooked it up with Bonjour, so the Mac just sorta sees it as a camera without any configuration needed. The possibilities are pretty endless (or limited, depending on your point of view), but we suppose it's nice for iPhone owners to instantly have a free, remote cam for iChatting, if nothing else. The download isn't available yet, but Ecamm is teasing that they just might be willing to demo it at their Macworld booth this week.

Hi all still no confirmed details of a release but tonight mathieulh (Dark Alexs Friend and right hand man etc) posted this over at Brakkens Blog:

    EVERYONE PLEASE BEHAVE.

This is not only about zeus or Max-console or even Datel. We wish to only release on dark-alex.org or through network (not even on exophase, lan or anywhere else.) for the time being for our own reasons.

Mostly because we are tired of people making money on our backs, wether it is max-console qj or anyone else. That doesn't only include news sites but also shops that ILLEGALLY make money by flashing m33 firmwares on psps or even selling pandora batteries/memory sticks sets, some will ask over 50 euros per installs !
Some even have the guts to claim sending a percentage of the money to m33 or c+d when this is not true!

We took that decision not only against max-console but every other sites that do make money over our work. Of course most/all of news sites do exist for the purpose of making money and yet, those are needed.

We can always dream of decent sites that make news with no earning whatsoever but considering the tiresome job that it is and how time consumming it is for people to actually look for news and report it on a 24/7 basis, I doubt that we will see such a thing happening any time soon.

Nevertheless we hope to be able to move things and that such a change may happen if we keep having a fair release system between each and every psp related sites (by only releasing on our website or through network, then we do not care of what sites do of the binaries once they got those.)

Another thing we are pretty much fed up of is the "news race" that tend to happen between all sites that try to be the first to news stuffs all the time, and everyone of them try to get news from us almost every minutes despite the facts that we do have lives of our own for the sole purpose of getting ranked up on Alexa.

To be honest I like the max-console comunauty which seems more mature than the ones of most other sites, this is what kept and keeps me staying here, the fact that we stop releasing from that place does not mean we wont keep posting in there. I think that most sites got carried away and forgot that comunauties are before all created by the users, for the users.

P.S. I do not think that deleting the threads is a solution, and I do not believe that moderators were closing those on purpose. A forums need to be moderated. As long as we discuss of things peacefully there is no reason for a thread to be deleted, if not then indeed there is. If people start flamming, bitching or cursing all over the forums, then indeed those threads need to be deleted or closed. I personally know most of the moderators responsible for the psp section on the max-console forums, and I pretty much doubt that any of them would have deleted threads just to prevent anyone from express themselves or share their opinion (wether good or bad) about this forum.

Also a personal message to Brakken: We (the M33 team or even the Prometheus group) never worked for divineo even once, and even if we did, how would this be ANY of your business ? I have yet to see your so called "proofs" about us working for divineo (which do not exist since we never done such a thing) Keep in mind that we were not forced to make free releases available to everyone, we just CHOSE to do so. I can tell you for sure that we would have not if we worked for such company as divineo to begin with. Now please stop making pointless assumptions without proper evidences. Thank you for your understanding.

Personally when you have your own website why would you release anywhere but on your own page, its great to see that from now on the Dark ALex homepage will be the only release venue and im sure like most others do that the whole team behnd these custom firmwares deserve all the donations they can get for the tireless work they put in on behalf of the PSP Community.

It is nice to hear it straight from one of the people behind the custom firmwares. ...

    News/release from Mirzab14

    pspPrank

    What is It?

Its a little homebrew app thats meant to be played as a prank to other people. It will look like it is deleting some important stuff then tell you it is a joke.

Its disguised as a flasher called "alpha-flasher". Use your imagination to tell your friends what it does.[*] Program auto-exists at end[*] HOME button does not work (I disabled this on purpose)[*] Uses colors: White, red, blue, green

    .::::.How to use.::::.

Put pspPrank folder into ms0:/PSP/GAME. Execute like any other homebrew. Works on both 1.50 and 3.XX kernel.

You might want to rename the folder if your using the prank on a friend.

First off thanks to rememberthe8bit for the news tip

DWEdit has released a new version of the excellent Gameboy Colour Emulator for the GBA(and DS).

    Heres the release info:

New version of Goomba Color! Just bugfixes if you were using the WIP versions, but major changes if you were stuck using Alpha 6.

*Finally fixed the problems with extra layers going out of sync (notably the bug where it takes out screen border)
    *Lots of other little changes

    Other notable bugs fixed:
    * When a rom does a repeated stack push crash (such as recursively executing RST instructions), it no longer corrupts the emulator's memory.
    * No longer uses NES-style sprite-bg priority, because a GB is not a NES.

    The Cart

    The Packaging and Contents

    Review

Neoflash are one of the worlds biggest and well known makers of flash carts for the Nintendo DS and the toptoyDS is the latest one to grace the DS Community.

The Toptoy DS comes in a sturdy plastic packing which means that no damage should occur on route to your house, Inside the packaging comes the Flash Cart, a Mini USB adapter for Micro SD Cards (they go inside the flash cart) and a Mini CD containing drivers/firmware for the Flash Cart.

The Flash Cart itself takes Micro SD Memory Cards which are fairly cheap these days, so you can easily go up to 4GB and yes thats a shedload of Homebrew

OK now my DS Lite hasnt got a power lead so i couldnt do a thorough review but heres my findings

When i first switched on it booted up with a question mark and an error with no menu so i went to Neoflash and installed the latest one from them. I just unzipped the file and dropped it on the root of the Micro SD Card.

I then booted up and was presented with a Nice and functional Menu screen with the list of games and apps i put on to try.

Needless to say i tried some commercial roms of games i own ie Mario 64, New Mario Bros, Nintendogs and Theme Park all loaded perfectly and saved too, no slowdowns or glitches to report of. With the commercial games it does tell you some info but me being me takes no notice of it

Then onwards to the Homebrew stuff and my first to try was the latest version of DSOrganize the browser cum filofax type for the Nintendo DS and believe me Nintendo Should actually make this a base app that is on every Nintendo DS, anyway it played perfectly.

I then tried another fave A Touch of War the RTS game and yet again perfect. One game that stalled on loading was Starlite the Starcraft Clone for the DS, it had a blue cross signal so must be imcompatible i presume.

Moonshell was last on my list whilst trying to preserve my battery and it worked flawlessly.

    Conclusion

An easy to use Flash Cart with excellent compatability both on Commercial and Homebrew Games, simple to use and easy to understand just drag and drop. One big feature is the ability to auto DLDI patch in memory.

The ability to use any size Memcard makes this a decent buy and well recommended.

Score out of 10, well for me id give it an 8.5/10

    Ordering and Delivery

I ordered my JXD301 from USA retailer GP2XStore.com (who sell a lot more than just GP2X). The order was dealt with within the hour and was shipped the same day which was very impressive, nothing worse than ordering and waiting weeks for the console. Shipping and the console were at a good price too, even more so with the weak dollar .

My parcel was delivered by EMS and i had no Customs Charges something which pleases me no end and even though it was the festive season it arrived within 4 days, yet another plus.

    Opening the Packaging

The console comes in a box which tells you what it does etc but no mention of emulators most likely to avoid customs etc. The console itself is a similiar size to a GBA Micro although thinner. In the box was a soft case for the console, Headphones, USB Lead, USB Adapter, Driver Disc, Manual and Worldwide Compatible Power Lead (you just need a shaver plug in the UK).

    The Review Itself

Turning on the JXD301 reveals what must be the best GUI on any handheld system ive ever played, its so user friendly and easy to use, plenty of options to change, bright and cheery. A major thumbs up so far.

Connecting the system to my laptop via USB cable was an horrid experiance it just wouldnt work at all, i then went to my PC and it connected straight away, godknows why this happened, but i wasnt happy with it.

I then tried some roms and movies on the console and to my surprise the movies played quite well infact i enjoyed watching heroes on the jxd301 so much that ive got 6 episodes on now

On the rom side of things GBA Emulation was a waste of time, sure it booted up but was as slow as hell.

Nes emulation was much better infact quite decent.

Snes emulation was amazing with sound on its crap but the speed was very very nice. I did find the controls a tad strange without L and R buttons.

GB/GBC emulation seemed to be crappy, whatever emulator they ported over didnt work well at all, low compatability and no sound.

Megadrive emulation was also nice enough but sound is rubbish luckily the games play reasoably well.

NeoGeo emulation is also a plus for the console, roms need to be with a .neo extension

The Ebook reader also seemed pretty decent and because i love my harry potter ebooks its great to read when i feel like it

Battery time for me lasted about 4 hours ive heard its supposed to be a lot more but thats what i got out of the system.

    Conclusion

The JXD301 is a nice console/media player for the price, it has a nice built in battery and 2GB hard drive and the build quality and display on the screen are very good. The GUI is simply the nicest on any console in my opinion, For movies your going to have to try and see what works best for you in terms of encoded quality, the tv shows i tried ran decent although an adult film i tried was a fraction slow but in some ways that was a benefit

On the emulation side of things Snes and Nes with Neogeo trailing were passable but not awesome. GBA was a waste of space and GB/GBC and Megadrive need a lot of work.

But for the price and with some excellent coders already working on the console this could be the budget emulation console of the year. The lack of buttons even though its a fairly powerful machine mean for ...
