Earlier this year, Nintendo pegged a June 4 North American release date for its Opera-developed DS Web browser, trailing behind the software's European and Japanese debuts of 2006. As in both of those territories, the software will arrive in two packages: one compatible with the original DS hardware and one with the redesigned DS Lite.

However, North American stores will be stocking only the DS Lite edition of the browser. Web-wanting owners of the original DS will have to order it online. A representative of the company told GameSpot that "a version of the Web browser for the original Nintendo DS will be available online, while a version for Nintendo DS Lite will be available at retail."

The online store of GameStop is currently offering preorders only for the DS Lite edition of the browser, which it has tagged with a $34.99 price. A complete list of sites that will sell the original DS browser is not yet available, but the Nintendo representative did say it would be carried on Nintendo's own Web site.

This is not the first time Nintendo has kept one of its offerings from the aisles of most brick-and-mortar outlets. Last year, Nintendo released the DS music title Electroplankton exclusively through its online store, the Nintendo World Store in New York City, and "major online retailers."

The idea of Resident Evil 4 for the Wii just got more tasty-like-brains delicious with the pricing pegged at $29.99. Capcom's official site priced the game confirming earlier reports of the low pseudo-budget price. The original Resident Evil 4 for Gamecube (which works fine on Wii, without waggle) and PS2 is budget priced at $20.

Now we wait until June to see if the Wii controls do the game justice. We already know we like the European boxart better than the American. Resident Evil 4 was arguably one of the best games of last-gen. If these tacked on Wii controls don't elevate the title, make gamers happy and, let's not forget, sell well, then RE4 for Wii may be another log on the Wii-fad bonfire. If it doesn't end up making the amazing RE4 even better, what was the point of birthing the Wii edition other than as a blatant money-grab? ...

Not exactly the first lightsaber experience we were looking for with the Wii -- but we'll take it. Codename Revolution reports that Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is coming to Wii this holiday season. The assumption is that this will be a one disc version of the sleeper hits in the Lego Star Wars series. Beyond this basic information, discovered through a distribution contact, there is no news on how the Wiimote will be used.

If they somehow change the camera to over-the-shoulder or attempt to keep it behind the character in classic platformer style the blaster and lightsaber may be incredibly fun. If it's from the top down or random camera angles, like it is in the versions available now, we fear for a Marvel: Ultimate Alliance on Wii feel. That experience need not be repeated, thank you. ...

    News/release from luislizard:

Hi, this is my second release of this program and now has support for as much themes your memory stick can hold.

Now it checks if file is present before flashing, meaning that now you can just throw in a BG and a topmenu_plugin and it will still work (Last version you needed all the rco's for it to work).

This program changes your XMB theme every time you restart your PSP automatically. It works by using the autorun feature in OE firmwares (Not working in 3.03 OE-C, but as an alternative...) , you can also cycle your theme by running Cycle Theme at your game menu. It supports gameboots, BG and most rco's commonly flashed (If you want support for another rco to be added please tell me.)

This was tested on my 3.40 OE PSP and worked flawlessly.

In case that for some reason the psp would turn off when flashing you just have to restart the psp and it will flash the files again (if you have the autorun feature enabled.)

If you have any suggestions or feature requests post to this thread so i can keep improving this.

    Installation instructions at README.

    Features:
-- Unlimited slots for saving themes NEW!!
-- Automatic theme flashing at startup

Files it can flash: (Requests accepted)
    --topmenu_plugin.rco
    --opening_plugin.rco
    --savedata_plugin.rco
    --gameboot.pmf
    --system_plugin.rco
    --01-12.bmp
    --impose_plugin.rco
    --premo_plugin.rco
    --system_plugin_fg.rco
    --system_plugin_bg.rco
    --photo_plugin.rco
    --game_plugin.rco
    --sysconf_plugin.rco
    --ltn0.pgf

    TODO:
-- Flash dummy font to free space.
    -- Monthly theme cycling.
    -- Randomize Function.
-- More cycling options (like each day, or week).
    -- Improve scripting.

    DOWNLOAD LINK:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/29365788/Theme_Cycler.zip

    IMPORTANT:
-- The README file is your friend, take a look at it before using.

-- if you want both autorun and the manual Cycle Theme function you need to set the 1.5 kernel to GAME since the boot folder has to be strictly at GAME, not GAME150.

-- DO NOT RENAME THE BOOT FOLDER, AND IT SHOULD BE LOCATED IN THE GAME FOLDER, NOT GAME150, NOT GAME340, IF YOUR ARE GOING TO USE AUTOBOOT.

-- AS A PRECAUTION, FREE SPACE IN FLASH0 BEFORE USING WITH A PROGRAM SUCH AS FLASH AGENT OR ELSE IT CAN SEMI-BRICK BECAUSE FLASH0 IS FULL.

The item is a new extended battery for the PSP from Blue Raven
Technology, promising 8 to 15 hours of extra power. The exact
amount of time is influenced by what type of game is being played or what other kind of PSP functions are being used.

The selling point, however, is the design. The battery comes as part of a rubberized, five-ounce half-shell that the PSP slips into easily, leaving the back of the device encased in a manner that offers a comfortable, balanced grip. It was a bit of a squeeze, but the enlarged PSP still fit into the zippered protective case I use (and which I would have been annoyed to give up).

Now, some quibbles: There’s just a single sheet of instructions for the battery, and that’s just a clumsily written installation guide.

When last we saw Electronic Arts' original Wii title Boogie, it was in an extremely early form at the Game Developers Conference. So early, in fact, that it was just a single concept demo, and we had to collectively imagine what the final game would end up becoming. Earlier this week, however, we had a chance to visit EA Canada to check out how Boogie has evolved in the past few months. Though it was still not anywhere close to ready for prime time, it at least took on a form that more resembled a playable production.

At its core, Boogie is a dancing and singing rhythm based party game. In the dancing portion of Boogie, you bust your moves using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combination; specific dance moves are handled by waving and twisting the remote in specific directions, while control of the character's upper body's taken care of by moving the Nunchuk. Moving the analog stick will rotate the character's head, and hitting one of the Nunchuk's trigger buttons will open and close his or her mouth for a bit of "lip syncing."

It's the bank holiday weekend and that means when you're not getting stuck in traffic, complaining about the rubbish weather or stuffing your face with fish and chips at the seaside, you've got a whole THREE days to spend playing games. So, here's hoping there are some decent releases today, eh?

First on the list this week is Spider-Man 3 - which is released on every format under the sun. While our definitive review will appear on IGN later today, from what we've seen previously, Spider-Man 3 isn't too far removed from Spider-Man 2 but with fancier graphics on Xbox 360 and PS3 - and, of course, Peter Parker's floppy new fringe.

Moving away from the more 'emo' Spidey, we come to the extremely cute Eledees on Wii. Originally released in America last year, it was lauded for its inspired use of the Wiimote. However, several months on and the novelty of shooting Pikmin-style creatures and chucking furniture around the room has worn off a bit. As such, we scored it '6.5', concluding that "for all its off-kilter charm, Eledees is simply too shallow an experience to hold attention for extended periods of time".

If you like a little more depth to your games, then you're in luck with Final Fantasy III on Nintendo DS. Technically it's extremely impressive and one of the best-looking games on the system. However, while the graphics have evolved, the gameplay hasn't. IGN US scored it a "good" '7.8' and noted: "Just know that the game definitely has its flaws, lacks a ton of DS presentation, and can be incredibly difficult despite its downright entertaining core".

Another handheld release sneaking to stores this week is Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops on PSP. Once again, Snake stars in an extremely impressive stealth title and IGN US applauded the game, awarding an outstanding '9.0'. "It's been a long time coming, but this is what Metal Gear Solid fans, and indeed PSP fans have been waiting for," roared our US comrades. "A title that demonstrates what the technology of the PSP can actually do, with a solid action title to boot."

Elsewhere this week you can also pick the up PSP version of Tony Hawk's Project 8 which scored a disappointing '6.0' and Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom on PS3, which only managed a passable '6.5'.

Enjoy your bank holiday and try not to get sand in your DS slot for goodness sake. ...
