In a trickling update on its official website, RTS veteran Ensemble has released a new Halo Wars image, but don't get too excited; it's only more concept art.

But while it's not in-game, the pic does reveal a new vehicle that will likely crop up as a controllable unit in Wars; a sort of Command & Conquer Orca with a big laser gun on the bottom.

Going by the swarming, wasp-like appearance of the 'copter and lack of UT-style redeemer launchers, we're guessing that this is some sort of scouting unit available early in the game - though that's just our educated guess.

Actual gameplay details on Halo Wars have been scarce since the game was unveiled last year, though an assortment of random MS execs apparently had a good time during recent internal playtests, where a "fairly polished" version of the 360 RTS was up and running at Ensemble.

Maxis Game Designer, Robin Hunicke, has spoke out about her enthusiasm for Wii and the thought behind the reinvention of the Sims series for the console.

"The Wii is so cool ... Almost everyone on my team is a Nintendo fan. Almost all game developers are Nintendo fans," commented Hunicke. An appropriate choice of words after fellow Maxis developer, Chris Hecker, last week cited the Wii as "a piece of shit".

"It's not clear to me that Nintendo gives a s**t about games as an art form," said Hecker, who has since appologised.

Now it seems Maxis are only too pleased to express please with Nintendo's console, with Hunicke pointing to its clean design and family-orientated approach to gaming as the key factors in the new direction MySims has taken.

Despite the radically changed controller, Hunicke stressed the importance of sticking to the fundamentals of a franchise on a new console. "We wanted to bring The Sims to the Wii in a way that we could say we were at home on the Wii."

Unlike many other Wii games out there, Hunicke also wanted to avoid using flailing arm movements in MySims.

MySims comes with a radically re-invented cartoony style, and a new emphasis on community as players seek to rejuvenate a run-down town to attract new residents.

MySims is due out on Wii and DS later this year.

Juárez Mayor Héctor Murguía has condemned Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 which is set in El Paso and Juárez, reports the El Paso Times.

Ubisoft's tactical shooter launched last Friday here in the UK, which features fictional battles between the US Ghosts and Mexican rebels. Keyword there being 'fictional'. But the Mayor of Juárez (one of the locations featured in the game) isn't impressed.

He said, "Violent video games instill values which are upside down, and these actions are despicable because they attempt to divide the good will of the residents of American and Mexican cities."

Murguía sais that GRAW 2 exposes children and teens to ideas that are xenophobic and warlike and that generate violence. He went as far as asking Mexican federal authorities to band the game from reaching children. On the flipside, El Paso Mayor John Cook said he had no problem with the game.

Rebellion has snapped up Ignition's Banbury dev studio, formerly known as Awesome Developments, which was responsible for puzzle game Archer Maclean's Mercury on PSP.

Whether the Ignition Banbury will continue to work with the PSP platform at Rebellion is unknown. Rebellion wouldn't spill any beans when contacted earlier, only saying that it's currently working on "three major projects" in connection with "large publishers".

"This acquisition takes the Rebellion headcount to 280 full time members of staff. We're fully booked with work until later in the year so these additional highly talented staff will be a valuable addition to the team", Rebellion's CEO and creative director Jason Kingsley has added. ...

Mark Rein has responded to reports that Gears designer Cliff Bleszinski confirmed a Gears sequel is in development, saying there are wrong.

On the back of GDC, Gamespot posted an article (quickly followed-up by IGN) proclaiming that Bleszinski has confirmed Gears of War 2 is in development. Hardly a suprise really.

But Epic VP Mark Rein was quick off the mark over the weekend to shoot down the stories saying, "The Gamespot article is wrong. Cliff didn't confirm anything of the sort."

Of course a Gears sequel will be in the pipeline, especially on the back of the success of the original. Just don't expect anything official until Microsoft says so though. ...

    News from reanimate:

hey guys look at the sketches and basic program i made for this project....i came up with this idea, (maby in VB or C# or C or C++ what ever) we could make a game maker that uses Lua programming to make psp games.

    simiar to game maker

my concept is very CRAP and the design will probably not be used but that about as much VB as i know

    here are some concept sketches

    by the way the buttons along the top are;

the first buton on the sketch is New
    the second is Open
    The third is Save

    the forth is test
the fifth is compile to eboot (lua file)

    the sixth is add sprite
the seventh is add a sound
the eight is add a custom code
the nineth is add a room
the tenth is add a prgrammable object eg player

(sorry i know its crappy but its all i could do in the time i had)

use it and see what i mean, we can have it like if you put this code picture and setting here then this code snipet will be placed here

the custom lua code for advanced people...

    pressing add sprite would be like;

(first copy the file to the games temp folder then add the code to the begining of the index.lua code its editing)

    load.image("data/sprite.png")

    (or somthing)

maybe (i think we can im not sure) if we use the source for the lua player for windows and mod it to fit here for testing the game and then use a precompiled case that needs a index.lua file that it follows (got one, not hard but i do have one) then all the gfx and sounds will be kept in a folder next to it called data

if you want we can (maybe) incorperate the lua encrypter to encrypt the .lua code you make so no one can take it

this software would alow nearly anyone to make homebrew

    wot do u think?

it a idea in progress so i come here plus this will mean alot more homebrew will come out

And not only that, it looks like it's coming later this year. There have been rumors ever since the DS Lite hit that Sony was also planning a redesign of its portable. Some of those rumors have ground in reality, some of them are just wishful thinking. Nothing official has been announced, and Sony has shot down any chatter regarding a redesign saying it's not happening. With all this, PSP2 looks to be a pipe-dream — Like it's not happening.

    Apparently, it is.

Various third party and highly placed sources state that the PSP2 is coming. Speculation is swirling around the industry, and third party publishers are hoping to tie their games to the PSP2 launch. Thing is, Sony has yet to pass along any information about when that will be. Meaning we won't see big third party titles at launch.

Word has it that a big announcement will most likely hit at E3 with Sony unveiling the redesigned portable. An announcement of launch date (which should be sometime 4th quarter) is entirely possible as well. The redesigned product apparently does exist as this is what we've heard so far:

    The screen is gorgeous
    The loads are faster
    Improved buttons
    Internal flash — 8GB
    Possible touch-screen
    Possible built-in camera
    Uses UMD
The recent blockbuster success in Japan should prove that the PSP is anything but dead and deserving of a make-over. Stay tuned!

Sanguinus has posted an update of files for the Mac Emu for PSP, heres the details:

Me and a friend recently spent loads of time getting basilisk II to work properly on the PSP and we have. We have put together a freeware tool we found on the internet for editing DSK files, Also we have made a DSK file with a game of checkers on it and a game of chess also a JPEG viewer.

Basilisk for PSP was written by ChaosKnight.

We have installed the mac os7 on a Virtual DSK Image (this is legal for those who doubt. You can download the files from apples old software section yourself but in 19 individual floppy disk images!! )

    Wikipedia:
Mac OS 7.5.3 and the 7.5.5 (US English) update can be downloaded for free: http://download.info.apple.com/Apple...intosh/System/

Also included is a copy of mac.rom that I found on a freeware site in a zip file.

So basically just extract the basaliskII files into the game section of your PSP Memor Stick and Run.

    Notes:
    It is surprisingly Quick.
Some window moving things cause it to hang such as scrolling the horizontal scrollbar.
Shutdown causes it to hang so just use Home button to quit.
Installing Quicktime is virtually impossible I spent several hours trying without success as after it was installed it caused it to hang after booting.

    New from ZiNgA BuRgA

So, you may know about editing the topmenu_plugin.rco file to change your XMB icons, eh? But, did you know that other RCO files also contain ("lesser important") icons?

Basically, this program aims to be a generic RCO editor. Currently, you can change almost all your icons, and basically all the text in any RCO.

    NOTES:

Being experimental, this MAY create corrupt RCOs - ALWAYS keep a backup, and make sure you know how to recover from a brick (ie use recovery mode)

I'm too lazy to implement much validation in this release, so it's a bit unstable

ONLY use DECRYPTED RCOs (get them from the FW2.50 dump)

It seems that it WILL work on 3.10 OE! However, it seems that topmenu_plugin.rco customizations will not work, but changing other RCOs seem to work.
