I'm sure many people thought this project would end up as vapourware when I first posted news on Jman420's little project. Here I am today happily reporting we have the first screenshots of it running with 3D character models and rendered backgrounds. Its only a matter of time before the team releases a tech demo.

Here's what the lead programmer Hardhat had to say:

Well, I finally got some debugging done. I'm now loading the cameras successfully, and the displaying the backgrounds correctly. I don't yet use the camera, but that'll come soon. I've made a build to show off my modest progress. I'm sending it to the team, but I'm posting some screen shots too.

Generic Survival Horror Clone #1 Team: Jman420, Hardhat, accordian boy, Meyitzo,Sumo X, NeoDudeMan and rmedtx.

Remember to check out the project page and the development thread.

MTWomg has done it again by patching the great Devhook program (created by Booster) and making it clean for us. Devhook 0.45 includes new controls for flash emulation and a few other new memory-stick protecting measures. In laymens terms this new version is more stable then ever before and in the world of Homebrew risk its always nice for safer eboots.

I've also included a token guide for those who may be new to Devhook. Remember that the version mistakingly number reads out as v0.44.

kozine has released a new flashing app for 1.5 PSP's. Here's what he had to say about the release.

    Hey guys,
Here is my latest project. You havent heard from me for a little why but this is what ive been working on.

    Aqua-set is a flashmod for 1.50 firmware PSP's. Currently,
this does not contend with Art's Xflash at all but I wanna
catch up lol. Anyhow, Currently, as this is an Alpha version,
treat this as a proof of concept. In this version you can:

    Change Wallpapers
    Change Font
    Change Gameboot
    Change Bootsound

Not alot but it does work Im hoping to add a theme installed
if I have permission from SodR. I am also going to try and
    include a custom firmware installer.

Edorul has ported Nehe tutorials 11 to 20. Here's what he had to say.

Nehe11-Nehe are adaptations of cygwin versions of Nehe tutorials modified in order to run on a PSP.

You will notice in each folder a working Makefile, "psp-setup.c" needed to compile pspgl programs and "copy.sh" that permits to copy directly your program to your PSP without living cygwin, just type "./copy.sh".
All parts I've modified are maked by "@@@".
    IMPORTANT NOTE:
To get those tutorials working you'll need the modified version of PSPGL I made (it handles display lists and resolve some bugs). You'll find it there:
    http://edorul.free.fr/psp/pspgl_modified.rar

As you saw Nehe13, Nehe14, Nehe15, and Nehe18 are missing:
    - Nehe13, Nehe14, Nehe15 : because they need a buit'in font system.
    - Nehe18: because it needs too many functions that are not coded in pspgl (gluQuadricNormals, gluQuadricTexture, gluCylinder, gluDisk, gluSphere...)

    Known bugs:
    - in Nehe12: in this program default light have a strange result everything seems dark unless you rotate the cubes enough. In this case there is no color applied on various cubes (lighning bug ??? or color material bug ??? or both ???)

uo_Ograniser is a homebrew that allows you to organise 1.5 homebrews (KXploited ones) and remove corrupted data icons on the XMB menu of your 1.5 PSP. Originally developed and released by modsyn (named Ogranise-w_SCE_**), this 'UnOfficial' version extends the core functionalities of the original program by allowing you to do more things like keeping your favourite homebrew on top of other titles without a USB connection. For the safety conscious, this program does not write to the flash memory so there is no risk in *BRICK'ing*
    your PSP.

    What's New In This Version?
    ---------------------------
Although this homebrew-mod is only an initial release, it is packed with many
features. To start off with, the user interface has a facelift! This new
version sport a new graphical interface, menus and backgrounds to improve the
    end-user experience.

You may now sort your homebrew titles automatically in alphabetical ascending
or descending order! If you are still unsatisfied with the order arrangement,
the manual sorting (positioning) tool will allow you to place your favourite
    homebrew to your favourite spot.

Say goodbye to the corrupted data icons that may show up on the XMB menu! New
feature to this version: uo_Ograniser allows you to repair (rename) the
existing homebrew folders in your game folder automatically by removing those
corrupted data icons. This one-time process is completely safe***, you may even
reverse the process if you wish to restore the original folders name.

And finally, before you could answer 'Yes!' to begin the organising
(finalizing) process, safety checks will be kicked in to make sure your PSP
have sufficient battery life or it is plugged into an AC-adaptor before you are
allowed to perform read/write operations on your memory stick.

Of course! A progress bar indicator will show the percentage of completion
during those long organising process. Upon completion, a summary report will be
generated to give you a brief report on the folders that were processed and
    each individual success failure result.

Side Note: **Ever wondered why ORGanise is spelt OGRanise? Well, I must say I'm
clueless too to begin with, maybe modsyn has the answer to this question?

***Dark_AleX and a few others have recently developed custom firmwares for 1.50
PSP, and one of the features enable you to hide corrupted data icons from your
XMB menu. The downside of it is you may risk *BRICK'ing* your PSP because these
applications write directly to the flash memory. Another disadvantage is if you
have a lot of homebrews in the game folder, it can cause a noticeable slowdown.

The DCemu interview site was one of the first of its kind and was originally set-up around the birth of the first dreamcast page (which refutes any other websites claim they did it first). Thanks to some hard work by Wraggster. We now have recovered over 40 interviews from the past with people from many different backgrounds. So for those of you too impatient to for the next edition of the "PSP Coder summertime interviews" I recommend you check out the many other interviews DCemu staff had over the years with many of the homebrew scene's most legendary coders.

To kick off DCemu's new interview website we thought it would be great to start off with a series of summer interviews of the PSP scene's favorite coders. For the first interview we had the privilege of sitting down with the great ZX-81.

To kick off DCemu's new interview website we thought it would be great to start off with a series of summer interviews of the PSP scene's favorite coders. For the first interview we had the privilege of sitting down with the great ZX-81.

Kaiser: To start this off I'd like to thank you for sparing some of your time to let us interview you. Would you mind telling us a little about yourself?

Zx-81: My name is Ludovic Jacomme, I'm 36 and I live in Paris, France. I've also got a Phd in *Microelectronic* and computer sciences.

    K: Whats your occupation?

Zx-81: I work as a software developer in EDA (Electronic Design Automotion). To summarize, my job consist to make some research and to develop software to help hardware designer to build their chips .

K: Can you tell us about your homebrew programming/coding previous to the PSP?

Zx-81: I've never made any homebrew before the PSP. I've already worked on free
software projects, but mainly in EDA not really the same as emulator port.

K: So what/who first got you into the PSP and in-turn developing for it?

Zx-81: A colleague has shown me his PSP, and i have to say that i've been very impressed by this beautiful piece of hardware . He show me many homebrews, and at this moment i wanted to buy one to do the same .

K: Mind telling us of your first PSP homebrew app/game?

Zx-81: My first homebrew was (as many other coders) a simple "hello world" program. Next, i was looking for a scientific calculator for my PSP, and I haven't found one, so i've ported the HP48 calculator. I've already ported this emulator on many other platform (mainly unix like systems). I knew very well the source code, so it was more simple .

K: What is your preffered development enviroment for the PSP?

Zx-81: I develop all my homebrew under
Linux, the best environement for coders .

K: So what are some of your favorite consoles and games?

Zx-81: I like many games, mainly FPS on PC. My favorite games at this moment are Joint Operation (Multiplayer FPS), HL2, F.E.A.R and Ghost Recon AW. On console ? I've got an old PS One, and i like to play Tekken or Gran Turismo with my son and my friends.

    K: Favorite PSP game?

Zx-81: I've bought only GTA (to be able to run homebrew lol), so i would say all PSP emulators and hombrew games!

K: So what homebrew/apps do you keep on your own PSP?

Zx-81: I've got many many homebrew installed on my PSP. My favorites are
    PSPRadio, AFKIM, ebook and FileAssistant.
Of course I've got also many emulators.

K: Who's your current favorite coder on the scene?

Zx-81:My favorite coder hmmm, hard question. I like them all for their hard work, for all the time they spend for free on their PC to develop homebrews, only for our best pleasure .

K: How do you feel about the PSP Scene? The people and sites surrounding it as well as other coders and fans.

Zx-81: The PSP scene is fantastic, there are many people from many countries, trying to offer the best. Coders who build hombrew, but also gamers, fans, and beta-testers giving usefull feedback, encouragements and good ideas.

K: What things are you currently working on or plan to work on in the future?

Zx-81: I'm working 200% on the Game Boy Advance emulator. I'm trying in the same time to improve other emulators I've already ported. In the future, I don't know for the moment. I've done nearly all emulators I wanted to port . May be I will focus on network applications, I like also this domain.

K:The fans seem to really appreciate your dedication to that GBA emulator. Lastly what words of wisdom would you give to an aspiring PSP coder?

Zx-81: The development on PSP is not so easy, mainly when you develop on 2.5 or 2.6 FW because you don't have any debug environment.
Fortunatelly, this time is over now with the downgrader ... To all new aspiring PSP coder, I would say that the PSP is one of the best small/portable harware and it's a real pleasure to make homebrew for it, but it requires a lot of work, knowledge and patience.

K: I can't thank you enough .Thanks for giving some of your time to allow us to interview you ZX, its much appreciated. Keep up the great coding. Merci, du réseau entier de DCemu!

    Zx-81: Thanks, Regards Zx .
PS: Sorry for my english, i'm not so fluent ...

A few new features have been added to the forums within this last week.

    New Warning System

In case you guys haven't noticed a newer efficient warning system has been implemented. There are different warnings with different levels. Think of it as a sort of decibel system for the forums. Each user is granted a limit of 10 warning points. Small offences such as double-posting and de-railing of threads will only result in small 2-point warnings while more serious crimes (such as warez discussion) will result in an instant 10-point fill-up. When a user maxes out their 10-point limit they will be banned for seven days. This warning system will allow a tighter control on certain undesirable content and will make keep the forums safe and clean.

    Staff Webmail addresses

Thanks to Martin again all staff have been given dcemu webmail accounts (e.g; [email protected]). The major advantage about this new webmail feature is the added effectiveness of post reporting. If any DCemu member finds an offensive or illegal post you can report posts by clicking the lower-left icon found in the corner of any post. These reports are sent to the majority of moderaters and staff. This creates much faster response times and makes it much easier for us to do our job. I encourage all users to report bad posts instead of PMing us.

The community is only getting better with these new features and the DCemu network will only continue to get better.

Don't forget about the ever-expanding DCemu Arcade ...
