Boston (dbTechno) - In a recent interview, the SCEA Vice President of Product Marketing, Scott Steinberg, stated that the company has no plans to copy the Nintendo Wii Remote for the PS2.

He was interviewed and asked about the rumors that Sony may be coming out with a controller just like the Wii Remote, only for the Sony PS2 console.

He stated “I think a Wii Remote style would feel a bit less innovative on the PS2, so I don’t think we have any plans to go there.”

“I think it’s interesting to think of what different controller configurations could do for the PS3 and possibly the PS2, but as a Wii Remote knock off, I don’t think we’re in the business of creating knock offs.”

So it appears, at least according to Steinberg, that the rumors that Sony is working on a Wii Remote clone for the PS2 are just that, rumors.

To speak out straight, some of the screenshots in the screenshot section are pretty old and heavily outdated. For those who are interested in keeping the old pictures, make a backup of them, as they will be replaced in the next few days.

Our all beloved coding machine from France did a great job the past days and the bugtracker has become slightly empty. Overall the progress speed concerning the code is excellent, while the graphics part slows down again (always the same…).

Sega confirmed espionage RPG Alpha Protocol was in development at Obsidian Entertainment last month, and we've now got first screenshots from the project.

It's a PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 game set in the modern day where you strap on agent boots as Michael Thorton. And no he doesn't make chocolate in his spare time.

Thorton's been cast out by his government and possesses information that could stop an impending international catastrophe. Guess who has to save the day?

Sega and Obsidian promise that the decisions made in game will ultimately transform the type of secret agent Thorton will become. Considering Obsidian was a the helm for KOTOR II, we imagine the choice would involve a light or dark Thorton. LOL. Get it?

imbNES is a NES emulator for PlayStation and PlayStation 2.

    Information:

imbNES is now open source! That's the good news. The bad news is that due to time constraints, I personally won't be able to work on it anymore. I hope that someone out there has the desire to take this project and do something interesting with it. Especially if you're a programmer who is interested in working in the video game industry some day, the knowledge that you'll pick up working on an NES emulator that runs on the PSX will be extremely useful even today in terms of understanding how this stuff all works.

If anyone is looking for ideas on where to get started, I could suggest a couple. First, the CD reading code could use a bit of error checking and retry logic. It's pretty dumb right now and it causes imbNES to freeze at the intro screen on some people's consoles with old lasers or poor quality CDR media. Also, the CPU and the GPU on the PSX could be made to run a little more asynchronously than they currently are. That should do a lot to get those games that just barely miss a solid 60fps up to speed. Of course, there's always more mappers to add, bugs to fix, and code to refactor.

Thank you to everyone who has used imbNES over the years. It was a lot of fun developing it and I can't wait to see version 1.4!

The match making services have been terminated for the SegaAM2's arcade-to-console port of Outrun 2SP. Outrun 2006 was terminated randomly without any notice given to SumoDigital (the company that ported it to home consoles). The time gap for when it was taken offline, is somewhere between November of 2007 to February of 2008. The last time I took the game online was back in November of '07.

This game can still be played online though via LAN tunneling. Outrun 2006 can only be tunneled NTSC vs NTSC, and PAL vs PAL. If PAL and NTSC players try to start a match, it results in players from the other region being dropped from the race.
