SEGA Europe has today confirmed that the PlayStation 3 exclusive RPG, Valkyria of the Battlefield, will be heading West from Japan this Autumn.

Despite undergoing something of name change to the snappier Valkyria Chronicles, the Japanese RPG title remains on course to deliver the fantastical story of two superpowers(the Federation and the Empire) heading for war intact. Developed by SEGA's Game Studio Japan, which has also produced the CANVAS engine specifically for the title (in true Japanese RPG fashion), Valkyria Chronicles follows a Federation soldier called Welkin and the rest of the 7th Platoon as they fight back against their aggressive neighbours.

"Valkyria Chronicles has been enthusiastically requested by European fans" said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director SEGA Europe ltd. "The unique graphics and compelling gameplay are just two reasons why we're delighted to bring it to them." ...

More progress on the Dreamcast emulator for Linux:

Real Life(tm) has been a little bit hectic lately, so there’s isn’t much to report for last week for lxdream. The render split is mostly done now, and will probably be merged back to trunk this week (as soon as I reintegrate the trans poly sorting). Unfortunately I didn’t really get any performance improvements out of it (well, I was probably a little hopeful there), but at least I didn’t lose any performance either, and it was worth doing for other reasons. Once that’s merged I’ve got a few small non-render issues to sort out, and then I’ll get back to the annoying rendering bugs…

In other news, dclinux 010605 is now hosted locally (as long as the bandwidth holds out), including a self-booting NRG image (thanks to The Gypsy), check it out on the wiki. Note that you’ll need the latest svn trunk to boot the nrg image properly.

And finally, I see that MAME now has a mostly complete AICA driver, thanks to ElSemi, kingshriek, dknute & R.Belmont. *jaw drop*. That… will _really_ help ^_^.

SEGA Europe today revealed that they are to allow fans the chance to help name one of the all new enemy races in the highly anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog RPG adventure, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood™. Developed by industry admired story-telling specialists, BioWare, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood will appear on the Nintendo DS™ system during Autumn 2008.

Between March 3rd and March 14th fans will be able to visit the Sonic City website (www.sonic-city.com) to cast their vote in naming the new race. After the votes have been counted the winner will be announced on March 15th and then appear in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood when the game launches in Autumn 2008.

Sonic fans should add these dates into their Official Sonic Calendars 2008 and then get back to playing Sonic Riders, go now, go play! ...

The Linux version of the Nintendo DS emulator for PC was released today.

Scheduled to begin Thursday, February 14, EverQuest Online Adventures (EQOA ) will celebrate its 5th anniversary with a game update that brings new adventures and storylines to EQOA's thriving community. Players will see the continuation of the Khalimet and Broken Blade storylines and the ongoing turmoil there, but the adventurers of Norrath will also make time to celebrate Valentine's Day until February 17, 2008. Players are encouraged to seek out a GM, and a Valentine's Day gift will be their reward.

Hoping to decipher the words written on the blade, they sought out many races throughout Tunaria for translation. The translation is currently unraveling and unrest is taking over the land once again. For those with a keen ear and a sharp mind the mystery will lead to the discovery of a shocking change to the land of Tunaria.
