Rockstar Games has finally set a date for the release of one of the year's most anticipated software releases.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be released worldwide on April 29 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

"We are so excited to be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV," commented Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games.

"We've pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment."

The date is later than some internet sites had speculated, and comes just within parent company Take-Two's end of financial year.

It also misses the crucial easter sales, considered one of the first big retail periods of the year.

With that being said, all we need now is to wait. Let's just hope that they release a Demo earlier. It could help us kill the time meanwhile.

Stonecut revealed some good news about the future of iRShell. And some bad news too...

    Good:

I would like to inform you that there will indeed be another iR Shell release for 3.80 M33 soon ...

    Bad:

However, this will be the FINAL release of iR Shell.

This means: After the next release there will NOT be any more releases. Ever. After that Ahman will be retiring from the scene for good. It should be out in a few days if nothing serious happens during beta testing.

    No more iR-Shell, huh?

There are so many great developers out there writing software all the time for the great hand-held console, but out all of them, which one is the youngest, and which one is the oldest!?

Who knows, there could be a 5 year old PSP coder out there somewhere, unlikely but maybe. :P Or even PSP coders in their 80's! Haha, ok well maybe not, but it would be interesting to see who is actually the youngest and oldest of them all out there. ...

As we turn down the home stretch of 2007, the Internet is bound to start buzzing with year-in-review articles. And we're no exception. In the coming weeks we'll be unveiling our Game of the Year awards, which will surely include more than a few looks back at the year that was.

But before we make history, we figured it would be worthwhile to remember it. From Zelda to Oblivion, from Liberty City to Azeroth, the greatest games of the past ten years have thrilled players while slowly but surely making a lasting impact on the pop culture landscape. Spanning several generations of consoles and introducing a variety of brand new genres, here are our picks for the best games of the last decade.

    The Games Are:

    -------------------------------------------------

    Gran Turismo - 1997

The racing game genre can be comfortably split into two historical sections: the clunkers that came before Gran Turismo, and every racer that's tried to emulate it since. Polyphony Digital's driving masterpiece introduced the gaming world to hardcore tuning, realistic physics, and replays so eerily lifelike they could make a bad race look great. With an unheard-of 166 car lineup and depth equivalent to a solid RPG, it remains the most influential racing game of all time.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - 1998

Welcome to gaming's second official Golden Age. 1998 was chock full of incredible, groundbreaking titles, every single one of which could easily make a case for Game of the Year honors. But there can be only one, and it's simply impossible not to choose Link's massive, legendary N64 journey. From its revolutionary targeting system to the sprawling Hyrule Field, Ocarina of Time remains the defining game in the Zelda mythos. And that's not just Yahoo's opinion - it's the highest-rated game ever according to both Metacritic and Gamerankings.

    Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - 1999

Trying to choose the best game of 1999 gave us fits. Noses were bloodied. Friendships were ruined. A chair actually went sailing through a window. But after cleaning up the rubble, it became clear that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was the single best game of the year. Next to Madden, this might be the most innovative sports game ever. Its control scheme and gameplay system have been ripped off by scores of developers. People who had no business getting within 100 yards of a skateboard took to it like grip tape to a deck. Yes, the competition was fierce, but the game that launched one of the longest-running franchises ever deserves its due.

    The Sims - 2000

We had no idea what to make of Will Wright's digitized dollhouse when it first invaded our PCs, but after countless hours spent poring over wallpaper, redesigning living rooms and, of course, forcing our beloved babies to mercilessly mingle, eat, work and pee, we knew it was a big deal. In addition to its profoundly addictive gameplay, it was one of the first serious efforts to bridge gaming's gender gap, proving a major hit with boys and girls alike. Truly no one escaped the clutches of The Sims in 2000 and few have escaped since, as it's currently the best-selling PC game of all time.

Grand Theft Auto III - 2001

Talk about another tough call: 2001 brought home some of the biggest games ever to hit consoles, including such luminaries as the original Xbox killer-app Halo and the monstrous Metal Gear Solid 2. But when you talk about size, quality, and cultural impact, the conversation begins and ends with Grand Theft Auto III. Incredible, open-ended gameplay? Check. Seamless transition between on-foot and in-car action? Check. Trailblazing soundtrack? Check. Never before had an action game offered so much freedom, fun and brutality in one controversial package. Welcome to the jungle, Rockstar.

    Battlefield 1942 - 2002

A year o' plenty, 2002 offered terrific experiences spanning every platform. No game, however, was more instrumental to the decline of general productivity than Battlefield 1942. Its contributions to online shooting are immense; capturing spawn points and trudging through land, sea and air in one cohesive game world was simply not part of the landscape prior to 2002 (Codename Eagle, the little-known game BF 1942 was based on, being the exception). Though hampered by a bland single-player experience, its multiplayer was so addictive and revolutionary that it's one of the most commonly referenced PC games ever.

Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic - 2003

By the time ace role-playing game developer Bioware turned their considerable talents towards Microsoft's Xbox, they has already created a lasting legacy with legendary PC RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. Shifting away from Dungeons & Dragons in favor of George Lucas' licensed universe ...

After the release of 3.80, with the very welcome feature of an Internet Radio Player on the PSP, we all put an eye on it, including the hackers. FreePlay has made a hack that will let us play radio from different stations other than Shoutcast.

    Steps:

    1. Set up a DNS server on your PC. Make radio.psp.dl.playstation. net point to your PC's local IP.
    2. Set up a web server.
    3. Mirror: http://radio.psp.dl.playstation.ne/p...ayer/PLAYER_I/
    4. Edit the files however you want.
    5. Set up a network connection using your PC's local IP as the primary DNS server.

    Have fun doing this!

Our hero Dark_AleX released the newest revision of his Custom Firmware, also known as 3.71 M33.

    Changelog:

    - Bugfix: Multidisc psx games bought in the psn store would not work due to the format being different
and M33 treating them as decrypted games.

    - Added support for decrypted multidisc psx games created with popstation_md (supplied with this release).

Included in the package is a new version of popsloader.

    Popsloader:

    - Bugfix: Games without compression had sound issues when using 3.72 pops. Fixed.
    - Added support for multidisc px games created with popstation_md. Note: multi disc games will
only work in 3.71 and 3.72 pops. Previous pops will exit to the xmb with generic error 0x80000004
when attempting to run multidisc games.

    Enjoy.

That's right, according to RipTen the Sony PS3 outsold the Nintendo Wii for 2 weeks in a row.

The latest sales are in from Japan for the week starting 12/11 and ending 18/11, and surprisingly the PS3 is holding on in there with its new 40GB model, fighting off Nintendo’s Wii for another week. The Xbox360 also sees a rise, and Super Mario Galaxy and Heavenly Sword also having respectable sales. Find out the numbers after the jump.

    Hardware:

    DSLite: 81000
    PSP: 66000
    PS3: 53000
    Wii: 36000
    PS2: 8800
    Xbox360: 5700

Impressive, huh? The Wii is going down very bad.

Dark_AleX updated his 3.71 Custom Firmware to revision 3 as mentioned a couple of days ago. And released the PopsLoader as well.

    Changes in Custom Firmware:

    - Fixed a bug in access to flash by usb.

    - HEN core: kernel prx's with syscall exports work again.

    - PSP Slim: programmers can set the size of user memory to 52 MB by using a sfo flag.
~Check sample in sdk for usage.~

    - March33 NO-UMD driver:
    * Fixed a bug that could hang the psp when exiting with home.
    * Fixed compatibility issue with Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, and maybe more games.

    - Vshmenu: it wasn't displaying properly with PSP slim TV-OUT due to the change of resolution. Fixed.

    Changes in PopsLoader:

    - Support for 3.71 and 3.72 pops has been added. Note that 3.71 however will not appear in the
list in 3.71 M33 as it is not necessary.

List of files needed for each version:

    3.00-3.03: kd/popsman.prx, kd/meaudio.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx
    3.10-3.30: kd/popsman.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx
    3.40-3.72: kd/popsman.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx, vsh/module/libpspvmc.prx

The files must be decrypted. (use square in psardumper). Support for encrypted&packed files is planned
    for the future.

    Download: PBP Unpacker
    Download: PSAR Dumper

    That's it, Enjoy!

I was messing around with my Flash0 after installing 3.72 HX firmware on one of my PSP. Since I read it's basically the same as 3.71 M33 I was very trusted. I ended making the 3.72 HX firmware to run 1.50 kernel'ed applications. So here's a tutorial how to make it.

Warning - You need to manage the Flash0 manually, be extremely careful -Warning

You need files from the Flash0 of 3.71 M33 firmware. Make a back-up before installing the 3.72 HX

    Creating Flash0's back-up:

    1. Go to the Recovery Menu
    2. Select Advance
    3. Connect your PSP to your PC using a USB Cable
    4. Toggle Flash 0
    5. Copy the folders to your PC

    Install 3.72 HX-1 Firmware

Flashing your folders on 3.72 HX:

    1. Go to Recovery Menu
    2. Select Advance
    3. Toggle Flash 0
    4. Copy the folder /km to the root of the Flash0
    5. Copy the file reboot150.prx to /kd/

    Good luck!
