New release of the Custom Firmware that also supports the Full Speed Playstation Emulator, heres whats new:

    Firmware Updates:

    * AVC videos bitrate limit patched. The firmware limited the bitrate of avc videos to only 768 Kbps. OE now forces the limit to be 16384 Kbps. (Note: this doesn't mean than the psp can handle such a high bitrate, this means than they won't show error. I don't know which is the real maximum bitrate than the psp can handle at full speed)
    * Speed of OE boot is now ~3 seconds faster than previous versions. (without plugins)
    * CPU speed of XMB can now be changed.
    * Wifi can now work at 333 Mhz!
    * Added access to flash 0 and 1 via usb in the recovery menu, based on the great idea of USBSSS by Booster. Note that writing is enabled, so this is intended only for advanced users that know what they are doing in each moment.(It is not a great idea to change anything from the kd folder). Because of this addition, the rest of flashing options were removed.
    * PSP isos can now be deleted as any normal memstick games. (also the size of the iso now shows fine when you press triangle->information).
    * When formatting memory stick, GAME150, GAME303 and ISO directories will be automatically created!
    * Changes in internal HEN core:
o If a EBOOT.PBP with a plain DATA.PSP had a data.psar, modulemgr took as size of the executable the size of data.psp+data.psar. Fixed. (this fix enables psx games to have plain data.psp without causing a memory error).
o Added a couple of patches found by Tyranid. One allows syscalls instructions to be used in kernel mode without causing a crash. The other allows sceKernelQueryModuleInfo to work with sceInit and previous modules.

    Popstation Updates:

    * The writing is now a bit different. This will avoid "Memory stick blinking too much" bug when using the plugin to load the 3.02 pops.
    * popstation now lets the use of non-encrypted DATA.PSP. If data.psp is in the same directory as the app, popstation will use that as the DATA.PSP of the eboot.pbp. Otherwise, it will use the one from BASE.PBP. A DATA.PSP that imitates the original sony one is included.
    * EBOOT.PBP generated with a non encrypted data.psp won't need the file KEYS.BIN at all. (Note: these EBOOT.PBP cannot work in versions prior to 3.03 OE-C due to a bug that those versions had.)

Check out our Popstation Compatibility List

    news/review via totalvideogames

Emerging from a hugely triumphant worldwide launch, many gamers and newcomers are still struggling to get their hands on the Wii as Nintendo attempts to cope with the sheer demand of those tuned into their energetic vision for the future of videogames. For those lucky enough to have their hands upon one, there is just one niggling uncertainty... the need for more games that aren't tired old ports with gimmicky features or merely mini-game compilations.

Suggesting that Nintendo has learnt from its own mistakes about the importance of getting titles to the market early on, Wario and the gang make a swift return in the latest title in the highly irreverent WarioWare series. It may be another mini-game compilation to join the likes of Rayman Raving Rabbids and Wii Play, but you can be sure Wario will always make others seem tame and relatively redundant in comparison.

Initially conceived around the pickup-and-play nature of the GameBoy Advance, the WarioWare series has won over gamers with its intense gameplay, crude presentation, and downright insanity. Featuring a rapid succession of mini-games to test your timing, nerve, and reactions, the WarioWare series highlights Nintendo's philosophy towards targeting wider audiences with simplistic yet nonetheless entertaining concepts and seems a natural fit to continue the early charge behind Wii.

Taking full advantage of the Wii Remote, WarioWare Smooth Moves replaces the sole necessity of pressing buttons at the right time with a variety of 'Forms' to master. Specific ways to hold the Wii Remote (or the 'Form Baton'), Smooth Moves features 19 different Forms that will have you sweeping like a 'Janitor', holding the Remote above your head in tribute to 'The Mohawk' or standing proudly with the Remote by your hip to emulate 'The Big Cheese' - as the game insists from the start, this is one game to play without any inhibitions!

Many of the characters from previous WarioWare titles make a return in Smooth Moves, along with a handful of equally bizarre, new additions to the cast. From the Nintendo fanboys, 9-Volt and 18-Volt, with their collection of classic Nintendo themed mini-games to the Bronx cabbies Dribble and Spitz, each character has their own back-story that does little else but to add to the madness that makes up a WarioWare game. Smooth Moves continues the series trend with a huge number of immensely creative, varied and most importantly fun, games to play. Whether it's guiding a paper plane past obstacles by holding the Wii Remote like a pen, or attempting to pull a tablecloth away without smashing any plates, Smooth Moves features some of the most inventive ways to use the Wii Remote and will hopefully provide inspiration for other developers looking to use the device in imaginative ways. Intelligent System's obsession with the weird and frankly obscene carries on throughout Smooth Moves, the obligatory nose picking games are there, whilst further tasks find you hitting old men and scrubbing the backside of a dirty cow!

One word of caution, Smooth Moves is a game designed to test exactly how strong the connection between the Wii Remote and the strap actually is. Games that challenge you to drop the Wii Remote like a Yo-Yo or throw it to the side seem a little risky given the recent media furore, whilst the intensive twisting and turning that it has to undergo seems destined to test the durability of the safety device.

Like its predecessors, the sheer pace at which Smooth Moves throws games at you overcomes the shallow and repetitive issues that typically affect mini-game compilations, although the increase in different techniques compared to previous titles in the series is both a blessing and a curse. Undeniably a great example of the Wii in action and the possibilities that are impossible on any other format (trying doing the 'Sketch Artist' with a SixAxis), the occasional moment when the Wii Remote wont react properly or you unknowingly complete the game without performing the correct technique, makes it feel slightly more flawed compared to its predecessors. While anybody who refuses to play the game's properly (which includes holding the Wii Remote by your nose to perform 'The Elephant') should be banned from ever playing Wii, it is perhaps a little too easy to cheat the system with some particular Forms which leaves the game feeling a little more gimmicky then previous titles in the series.

With over 200 different mini-games, it's possible to rush through the game in a matter of hours; however, Smooth Moves has genuine long-term appeal because of the score based nature of the games, each getting progressively faster, more insane and as a result more enjoyable, the better that you perform. On top of this, there's an arrangement of slightly more comprehensive mini-games on offer such as ...

New screenshots for the upcoming balancing-liquid-puzzler Wii game have been released.

From Ignition Entertainment: "Mercury Meltdown Revolution is a brain-teasing puzzle game that challenges players to immerse themselves in a colourful world of sci-fi machines, crazy characters, and bubbling test tubes. Using the Wii Remote, Players guide a liquid mercury ‘blob’, around traps, door switches, spikes, moving floors and other hazardous elements in order to complete the level."

The Mercurcy Meltdown series has been previously released on PSP and PS2 consoles, but the Wii Remote tilt gameplay will bring a new level of experience that compliments the game. Mercury Meltdown Revolution will be coming in Spring '07.

You may recall that rumors ran rampant of a Wii port of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas in mid-2006, culminating in Ubisoft denying at the time that such a project existed.

Well, those rumors are back, this time fueled by listings for the game at Bart Smit (a Dutch retailer) and a number of other European retail websites. Not only do these listings for a Wii version suggest that the game is coming, but some even have boxart for the game (pictured). While the boxart could've easily been Photoshopped, in general major retailers don't usually show boxart for a game that hasn't been provided by the company itself. The listings also suggest that the game could be released as soon as the end of March.

So is it happening? Given the rumors last year (which started with a listing for the game on one of Ubisoft's websites), the retail listings now, and the commercial success (not so much critical) of fellow Ubisoft FPS Red Steel on Wii, it would seem like an official announcement could be just around the corner like a special ops soldier waiting to strike. Should it become official, we'll of course let you know. ...

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has been selling like the proverbial hotcakes on both Nintendo Wii, and surprisingly, on GameCube. In fact, according to the latest NPD chart, the Wii Zelda: TP sold 519,200 in December. But GameCube’s same title sold slightly more at 532,900. Who knew that the Cube sales would still be so high?

All in all, it was a million unit December for Zelda. Some stats from the Big N:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was purchased by an extraordinary 86 percent of Wii buyers, or more than 900,000 games for that system alone. Coupled with the companion version released in December for Nintendo GameCube, the two versions of the newest title totalled approximately 1.5 million unit sales in less than seven weeks, which would represent one of the five best-selling games for the entire year. ...

    new release via Dark_Alex

his plugin is to load 3.02 psx emulator in 3.03 OE.

Although a lot of games work better in 3.03 emulator than in 3.02, in some cases
it is the contrary, so you may want to load 3.02 psx emulator in certain cases.

    Instructions:

    - Copy seplugins to the root of your memory stick.
    - Using some of the latest psardumpers, extract the 3.02 firmware with the option of the button X.
    - Once done, copy the following files from /F0/kd to /seplugins/pops302: meaudio.prx, mesg_led.prx,
    pops.prx and popsman.prx.

    - Enter in recovery menu, and enable pops302ld.prx plugin if you want to load 3.02 emulator.
    - Run the game. It will run with 3.02 psx emulator.
    - Whenever you want to use again the 3.03 emulator, just disable the plugin from recovery menu.

    Known problems:

    * During tests i tried castlevania sotn compressed. During the game i noticed anormal high activity
in the memory stick (note: the fact that the prx's are in memory stick is not related to this issue,
since they are quickly loaded to ram).
It didn't happen with the game not compressed (and it doesn't happen in 3.03 compressed).
I don't know if this issue affects other games.
In such a case, it may be a problem of the mixing of modules, or maybe just a 3.02 problem.
If you experience that problem, you may want to use uncompressed games if it slowdowns the game.
