Nintendo has told Eurogamer that July release dates for MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort are "purely rumour and speculation".

Timings are "still TBC", added the spokesperson - dismissing leaked retailer information from Holland (displayed by GoNintendo).

Specifically, that information claims Wii Sports Resort and the MotionPlus controller will arrive on 10th July, both as a bundle and sold separately. The same schedule also says Wii Fit Plus will be released on 19th November.

Nintendo US boss Reggie Fils-Aime also recently dodged Wii MotionPlus date queries by squashing June rumblings and sticking to the "spring 2009" estimate promised at E3 last year.

The MotionPlus accessory clips into the bottom of the Wiimote and allows rotation around the X, Y and Z axes, resulting in six degrees of freedom.

Wii Sports Resort will showcase the new technology, and impressed us back at E3. Furthermore, claims Reggie Fils-Aime, "the level of motion capability is far in excess of what we showed at E3". ...

Curve Studios' has announced the development of Explodemon!, a 2.5D platform game inspired by SNES-era Japanese games.

The game's due out for PlayStation Network in Q4 2009, with PC and WiiWare versions planned for release later.

Explodemon! puts you in the pyrotechnic boots of a hero who uses his explosive skills to fight enemies, blow away obstacles, fly through the air and solve puzzles, and promises a solid physics base.

It's "a loving parody of badly translated action games and everything they embody", according to the independent developer, who would do well to mind how things went for Matt Hazard in which case.

"Explodemon! is best described as what Treasure would create if they mixed Yoshi's Island with Half-Life 2," said design director Jonathan Biddle, who came up with the original prototype.

"It includes many elements from games as diverse as Street Fighter II, Halo, Super Metroid and Bangai-O."

And hopefully a few of its own. See the game in action over on Eurogamer TV. ...

Sony's PlayStation 3 outsold Nintendo's Wii during March in Japan for the first time in 16 months, according to Japanese magazine publisher, Enterbrain.

The console's spike in sales has been credited to titles from Sega and Capcom, with the PS3 hitting 146,948 units, compared with 99,335 units of the Wii and 43,172 units of Microsoft's Xbox 360, reports Reuters.

Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 and Resident Evil 5 for the PlayStation 3 took the top two spots of the region's software sales chart driving demand in the console.

Last week, Sony's John Koller described how the company expected PS3 and PlayStation Portable sales to climb 10-15 per cent worldwide, following a "bullish" approach to sales.

Shares in Sony Corp are trading at JPY 2420 (USD 24), down 1.04 per cent from the previous close. ...

Today I got my brand new white Nintendo DSi, ordered from Amazon uk for Ł145 with free delivery. I decided to take and post some photographs with everyone on DCEmu. Yes you're probably thinking "Meh, there's other sites that already have some pictures and videos of it in action". Still I wanted to share some here on the site. They're not the best as some of the photos are a bit blurred and darked in some as they were taken in low lighting conditions but I think they'll do anyway. Anyway, you can see them all via comments below. ...

Team Fortress 2 is set to receive its largest update yet, Valve has revealed.

The next of the shooter's never-ending stream of character updates will be focused on the Sniper, the developer revealed on its blog, and new content for other classes is also planned.

"The next class pack will focus on the Sniper," Valve said. "It's actually shaping up to be the largest TF2 update yet, with multiple new maps and a bunch of gameplay tweaks.

"In addition, we've got another update in the works that should be done before the Sniper, and that one will include some new content for all classes."

Addressing the patch-less Xbox 360 players, who probably feel akin to battered housewives next to their spoilt PC cousins, Vale said that the 360 update "is still being worked on".

"If you're wondering what's taking so long, since the content is 'done' on the PC already, it's mostly been around fitting it all onto the Xbox," it said. "The original version of TF2 in the Orange Box was very close to the Xbox's memory limit, and all the additional TF2 content we've produced has pushed well beyond it.

"We've found a couple of nifty ways to get back a bunch of that memory, but it's turned out to be a lot of work, and that's what most of our time is being spent on. In the meantime, we're going to get a code update out to address the server cheating that's going on."

The last time we heard from Envizions, the company was just starting to get its game plan together -- but it looks like the gears are officially in motion on its Linux-based game console. The final specs for the box now seem to be in place, with off-the-shelf components like the Athlon 64x2 5600 CPU (clocked to 2.4GHz), an ATI HD 3200 graphics chipset, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 120GB hard drive filling out what is essentially a standard PC housing.

Envizions say that the console will run a modified, quick-boot distro of Fedora called Mirrors (which can be upgraded to a beefier build named Mirrors Evolution X), and will feature a "cloud" service stacked with Amiga (!) games and an Akimbo-based video service. Beyond that, proper titles will be sold online and on SD cards for around $20. Envizions is currently taking pre-orders for the box, and say beta units will be shipped on April 10th. Pricing for those consoles will run between $280-350, while the final retail version can be had for $380, and should be available sometime in June.

We have just two words of advice for the fledgling company: get some killer games on there fast, and please, please update your site. ...

Marvelous Entertainment's announcement last week of Valhalla Knights 2: Battle Stance was just a bit on the mysterious side, with no solid details on the game. Those details came today with a major update to the game's official site and a few new screenshots.

Battle Stance offers up some major differences to Valhalla Knights 2. Most notably, the game has a new battle system, known as the "Active Action Battle" system. As part of this system, the battle party count has been dropped from six to four, and you can now team all your characters together for a simultaneous attack.

Outside of battle, you'll find some neat little features that make the game more user friendly. Gate Crystals can now be found around the world and help you instantly transport to past regions of play. The game also has improved status screens and an updated tutorial mode.

In terms of content, there's plenty new on offer, it seems, including over 40 new items and weapons, new boss-level beasts, and a variety of quests. There's also a gallery mode which links up to parts 1 and 2 of the series and unlocks movies as you progress through those titles.

All these updates are being made available for a pseudo budget price point of 3,990 yen (most PSP games in Japan cost about 1,000 yen more). We're not sure if this game has a chance of American release, so importers looking for an RPG experience on the PSP should check with their favorite sources on June 25. ...
