As reported back in May, Soul Calibur is punching its way to Wii in a new adventure-based game dubbed Soul Calibur Legends. Many thought the game was being toned down with the new 'adventure game' focus but Namco's making the game as brutal as ever by placing an emphasis on weapon-based combat that uses the Wii Remote.

Speaking exclusively to CVG, director Jin Okubo told us, "Many people have already experienced the sword play and action of Soul Calibur, but we really wanted to expand its potential - and that's why we decided to go in a new direction. We'd like to make Legends appeal even to people who have never played a game in the Soul Calibur series."

So how can we expect the Remote to be used? "By swinging the Wii Remote as players please, in-game characters will perform the exact sword actions that players are thinking of," Okubo added. "The Nunchuk is mainly used for body movement, but by shaking the Nunchuk it's also possible to block incoming attacks, evade dangerous situations, and to perform other unique moves. And there are various moves that can only be pulled off by combining Nunchuk and Wii Remote actions."

Look out for the full interview in the coming days where Okubo talks further on the control system, the characters we'll be seeing, the game's new direction and game modes other than adventure. We'll also have a batch of new and exclusive screens too! ...

Wii owners, you can't hide from them. They're everywhere. They've even infiltrated Majesco, who is now working on Furu Furu Park containing another 30.

Attacking your Wii this autumn, it's got breakout clones, baseball, number-based memory puzzles, asteroid-punching, karate and other Japanese-influenced madness. Some of it sounds cool. But how many times have you hit a baseball with your Wii Remote already? A million times, maybe? That doesn't matter. Like we said, you can't hide from it.

Soon, you'll be living your life in small, 30-second intervals. Doing a single task for long lengths of time will become a distant memory.

Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 are your only hope - the light at the end of a long dark, mini game-filled tunnel built using mini-game bricks. ...

Bungie's Halo 3 multiplayer beta may have shut up shop but the fun continues today with no less then 30 - yes, that's 30 - new screenshots from the multiplayer bit of the hotly anticipated Xbox 360 shooter.

Many of the shots show the remake of the Zanzibar level - renamed Last Resort for Halo 3 - that's being squeezed in but there's also new map Shrine and Brute Chopper action to be had. Let your eyes rampage all over the goodness.

September 26 just can't come quick enough for us here at CVG Towers. No doubt it can't for you lot either.

Microsoft plans to repeat its trick of beaming E3 into your living rooms next week, promising that high-definition trailers and playable game demos will be among the treats that form part of its second annual "E3: Bringing It Home" selection on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Last year's E3 offering included a playable demo of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, and while the platform holder isn't confirming which games will be offered in playable form this year, it has identified some of those that will be covered by a range of "trailers, themes, gamer pictures and demos" - including Assassin's Creed, BioShock and Project Gotham Racing 4.

The other name-checked titles are Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, Blue Dragon, Burnout Paradise, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, FIFA 08, Guitar Hero III, Lost Odyssey, Madden 08, NCAA Football 08, Need For Speed: ProStreet, The Simpsons, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008.

The release of assets on Live will take place between Tuesday, 10th July and Friday, 13th July. The company's pre-E3 press conference, held on 10th July at 8.30pm PDT (or 4.30am BST on Wednesday, 11th July for you), will be offered as a high-definition video download during that period, but won't be simulcast on Live. (Do you like the word simulcast? We're thinking of using it more often. Also: caribou.)

Anyway, Microsoft says that you should keep an eye on its E3 Marketplace Ticker for more information on things as they emerge. And of course don't be surprised to see games missing from the above list emerge in some form as well. We're sure there's something that's not on there. Something to do with gnomes. ...

Koei has stamped a fresh release date of September on the Xbox 360 version of Fatal Inertia.

But the poor old used-to-be-exclusive PS3 copy is still lagging behind, and a spokesperson for Koei was coy when it came to suggesting a date. It's all down to that Unreal Engine 3, you see, which is apparently less fiddly when used with Microsoft's console.

The spokesperson also told us a Live demo is planned for sometime before launch, although the exact timing is yet to be confirmed.

Fatal Inertia is a futuristic racer that's not too dissimilar to WipEout; you drive a fast spaceship-car around canyons at ridiculous speeds and use bizarre weaponry to slow the progress of your chums.

It's been on the cards for a while, and we're keen to get our twiddly thumbs on a fresh playable version soon. ...

SouthPeak has blown its fantasy trumpet this morning to announce a collector's edition of Two Worlds.

Each version will come in fancy holographic packaging, include a map of the world you can take to work and tack up on the wall [incorrect - Ed], plus you'll get a bonus disc with extra content and a whopping 72-page colour fantasy book. Fantasy that.

PC owners will also be treated to exclusive in-game items, while Xbox 360 adventurers can relish a 48-hour Live Gold Trial card.

Both will be available across America on 7th August at USD 69.99 and 59.99 for Xbox 360 and PC respectively. We're waiting to hear back on the exact European details, although 10th August costing GBP 49.99 and 39.99 wouldn't be out of the question, if you ask us.

Two Worlds is a free-roaming and sprawling role-playing game from developer Reality Pump. And although it bears a striking resemblance to Bethesda's Oblivion, there's a few key differences. The most drastic of these is a persistent-world-style multiplayer offering that promises to keep the adventures fresh and challenging for days to come. ...

Sony has announced a collaboration with developer Quantic Dream for a new and exclusive PlayStation 3 title.

"We always believed that 'next-generation' meant more meaningful content based on players' emotional involvement," said David Cage, CEO of Quantic Dream.

"To us, the PS3 is the only platform that can truly deliver on this promise, and SCE is a group that is both inspiring and pleasant to work with."

Cage founded Quantic Dream in 1997 and released the critically acclaimed and award-winning Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in the US) in 2005.

"We're really excited to be working with Quantic Dream for the first time and to have this opportunity to once again push the gaming experience to realise a new level of interactivity and, in particular, to engage players at an emotional level never experienced before," commented Michael Denny, VP of SCE Worldwide Studios. ...

New commercial game demo time and its the rather great in my opinion SOCOM game for the PSP. Heres some info about the game:

Defend America and her allies through broad combat experiences —including dynamic non-linear missions, 40 deadly and authentic real world weapons, multiple terrain types, weather conditions, enemy types, and encounter possibilities.

Enhanced Crosstalk with SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault, including a single story arc, and all new action events and unlockables.

Association with Naval Special Warfare ensures realistic SEAL team tactics, missions, weapons and character movements.

We've had two weeks of good PSN updates so far. Can Sony make it a hat-trick with a third? In short, yes. Check the full release list below.

    • Super Stardust HD (£4.99)
    • Championship Sprint (£1.99)
    • Gauntlet 2 (£1.99)
    • Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo (free)
    • Superman Returns BD trailer (free)
    • Full Metal Jacket BD trailer (free)

That's right. Sony were good to their word and have released Super Stardust HD worldwide within 24 hours. This is an excellent game and we will have a review up before too long to tell you exactly why. The other two available games (ah, it feels good to be able to say that ... ) are midway remakes, so have a think about it before you buy. Having said that, we've heard that Gauntlet 2 was pretty good online.

The Ninja Gaiden demo is a must get, if you haven't already nabbed if from the US store. Hopefully it will be compatible with the full title's in-game rewards for completing the demo, as the US version will be. Keep these killer updates coming, Sony. ...
