Executive chairman Eric Schmidt has revealed that consumers will likely be able to get their hands on Google Glass in a year’s time.
During an interview with BBC Radio 4’s World at One, Schmidt commented that Glass was ‘probably a year-ish away’.
Schmidt explained that Google will be looking for feedback from thousands of current Glass users who’ve bought developer models. “Based on their feedback, we'll make some product changes,” said Schmidt.
Google’s chairman explained that wearers of the technology will have to take responsibility for keeping information safe and understand when and where it is not appropriate to record your surroundings.
"It's obviously not appropriate to wear these glasses in situations where recording is not correct. And indeed, you have this problem already with phones.
“Companies like Google have a very important responsibility to keep your information safe, but you have a responsibility as well, which is to understand what you're doing, how you're doing it, and behave appropriately and also keep everything up-to-date."

April showers might bring May flowers, but the only precipitation we really care for around here is that of flagship handsets into stores. In that case, it's time to break out the raincoats: the HTC One is officially on sale at AT&T and Sprint as of today. Both carriers and their resellers are offering the aluminum wunderkind in its silver guise at $200 on contract for a 32GB model, with AT&T still holding the US exclusive on a $300 64GB version. Those jonesing for different hues or radios will have to wait a little while longer, however. The T-Mobile edition won't officially land until the 24th, and a black 32GB model is still "weeks" away from landing at AT&T and Sprint. Provided you're not the exception to the rule, though, you're cleared to buy what's arguably the first US-bound flagship of the year.

Hit releases such as BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider were sadly unable to stop another month of annual decline in the US video games market.
Total video games industry sales declined ten per cent year-on-year to $1.9bn, Gamasutra reports. That is of course an improvement on February’s 25 per cent decline.
Digital games sales accounted for $670m of this total.
Fortunately the release of both BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider – both of which enjoyed record launches for their respective IPs – helped the month avoid an even steeper decline.
NPD added that March 2013 saw 20 per cent fewer boxed releases than March 2012 but that dollar value per SKU was around 70 per cent higher.
Hardware suffered the sharpest decline, falling 32 per cent $221.6m. 3DS was the only machine to grow sales year-on-year, creeping up nine per cent
The March US games chart is as follows:
    1. Bioshock Infinite (Take-Two)
    2. Tomb Raider 2013 (Square Enix)
    3. Gears of War: Judgement (Microsoft)
    4. God of War: Ascension (Sony)
    5. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Activision)
    6. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (Nintendo)
    7. MLB 13: The Show (PS3, PSV) - Sony
    8. NBA 2K13 (Two)
    9. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (Activision)
    10. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (Namco Bandai)

Disney has confirmed plans to release a new Star Wars film every year from 2015.
TotalFilm reports that the announcement was made at LA event CinemaCon. Apparently it will alternate each year between the numbered VII, VIII and IX ‘Episodes’ and a series of standalone movies rumoured to centre on characters such as Jedi master Yoda, bounty hunter Boba Fett and Han Solo.
It has been confirmed that Mission Impossible III and Star Trek director JJ Abrams will be handling Episode VII while Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg have already been recruited to pen the spin-offs.
However, with news earlier this month of Disney’s decision to close LucasArts, could the video games industry miss out on the cash bonanza?
"After evaluating our position in the games market, we've decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games,” Disney said at the time.
Even prior to this worrying news concerning reports about LucasArts’ Star Wars games output had already circulated. Promising gritty next-gen title Star Wars 1313 was apparently cancelled almost immediately upon Disney’s purchase of LucasFilm as the company was apparently only interested in titles associated with its movie reboot plans.
Will Disney license out the IP to other developers and publishers to movie-associated console releases? Or will instead it choose to focus on more mainstream projects like associated Facebook and smartphone titles? Or could – gulp – the games industry miss out altogether?

It's a big day for Nintendo gamers tomorrow, with three highly anticipated games finally hitting store shelves.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is probably the best known of the three, with a marketing machine inundating us with non-stop celebrity "versus" commentary, character announcements and trailers galore. Entertaining, sure, but it feels like it'll never end.
Everything should begin to wind down tomorrow though, when the game releases, the reviews hit, and we can finally sit back and draw our own conclusions by doing what fighting gamers do best - beat the snot outta each other. There's little doubt Injustice: Gods Among Us won't allow us to do this well enough, being developed by NetherRealm Studios. But a good game is always better when you can find it for a great deal, and thankfully, there are a number of 'em running, including a still-available $10 store credit pre-order bonus from Amazon.
Along with Injustice: Gods Among Us, Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is also available April 16th. 'Course, this is great news for Shin Megami Tensei fans, made better with the nice extra Atlus decided to include with the game - an arranged CD soundtrack featuring six songs voted for by fans. Retailers - including Amazon, Best Buy, and Gamestop - are referring to this CD as a pre-order bonus, and while pre-ordering is probably the best way to secure a copy, it looks more like the first (only?) print run of the game includes the soundtrack, so you may very well find this special packaging on store shelves.Last, but certainly not least - Pandora's Tower releases tomorrow! XSEED surprised many a Wii gamer by localizing this final installment of the original Operation Rainfall Trio, and while there's nothing in the way of special editions or pre-order bonuses or whatever, the fact the game is actually being released - and for $40, even - is cause for celebration. My only real concern for Pandora's Tower is the (possible) limited availablity - Amazon, Walmart, and Gamestop are all listing the title online, but other big retailers such as Best Buy and Toys R Us are not. Given this, plus the game release late in the Wii's life cycle (usually associated with a low print run), I'm not sure I'd wait too awful long before pulling the trigger on this one.

A report from New Jersey has called for tighter regulations on the sale of 'violent' and Mature rated games.
The report comes from the New Jersey SAFE Task Force on Gun Protection, Addiction, Mental Health and Families, and Education Safety (NJ SAFE Task Force), formed on the order of Governor Chris Christie on January 17, 2013, in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre in December 2012, which sparked a widespread and heated
debate on gun control and violence in media
.The organization was charged with "reviewing the root causes of mass violence and developing recommendations aimed at ameliorating those root causes". It includes talks on gun control, urban violence, mental health including substance abuse, school security and violence in the media. The report takes aim at the "interactive nature" of video games, requesting "particular regulation" versus other non-interactive forms of media."The interactive nature of video games, as opposed to other forms of media, may dictate particular regulation of such games," says the report, before going on to make the following recommendations:

    • Require Minors to be Accompanied by an Adult When Purchasing Video Games with an M (Mature) or AO (Adults Only) Rating

    • Require a Request for Identification for the Sale or Rental of a Video Game with an M or AO Rating

    • Require Retailers Selling Video Games to Conspicuously Display ESRB Ratings at the Point of Sale

    • Require Retailers Selling Video Games to Develop, Maintain and Conspicuously Display Their Policy on Selling Video Games with an M or AO Rating

The report also calls of public display regulations. "The appropriate authority with jurisdiction over certain State property where video games have been made available to the general public, such as highway rest areas, should consider the practicality and feasibility of regulating those video games to ensure that violent games are not made available to children."You can read the full 83-page report here.
