Ape Escape for PlayStation 3 launches in Europe this June, Sony has announced.
The Sony Japan Studio game is a family-friendly, colourful adventure that fully supports the PlayStation Move controller.
The Ape Escape series began with the 1999 PSone title. The PS3 game, which launched in Japan as Ape Escape On The Move last year, includes 15 stages and stars evil primate leader, Specter.
The Move controller is used as a gadget, such as the Monkey Net, Slingshot and Smasher, to help catch monkeys. You can "bash off" apes in Chase battle or attack and defend simultaneously to prevent monkeys from grabbing your bananas in Capture battles.
There are also three mini-games, unlocked as you play through story mode.

Grand Theft Auto IV has shipped almost 20 million unit worldwide since its launch in early 2008, Take-Two has confirmed.

This figure, it notes, includes shipments of the 'Complete Edition' and 'Special Edition' versions of the game.

This has seen total sales for the franchise past the 100 million mark since the original game released on PSone in 1997.

The firm's other Rockstar-developed titles have also done well. Red Dead Redemption has sold "more than" 8 million units. Meanwhile the Midnight Club and Max Payne franchises have sold 18 million and 7 million units respectively.

On the 2K side, the BioShock franchise has passed the 8 million sales mark, the Civilization franchise has done 10 million, Borderlands has passed 4 million and Mafia has done nearly five million.

All sales figures are as of February 19, 2011.

The rumour mill has recently taken aim at Rockstar's next GTA effort, with nods to it being codenamed 'Rush' in a run of recently-discovered casting calls from a firm regularly used by Rockstar.

Court lifts LG’s injunction against Sony for now as firm is ordered to pay legal fees

The patent disagreement between LG and Sony has been lifted – freeing 300,000 stranded PS3s in Holland.
Last month LG was granted a preliminary injunction against Sony for an infringement on Blu-ray technology, but now InsideGamer is reporting this has been lifted.

The injunction resulted in 300,000 PS3s being held by authorities, with many seized at the ports of Rotterdam and Schiphol.
All PS3s will now be released and there will be no more seizures, reports Eurogamer. LG has allegedly been slapped with an order to pay all €130,000 of Sony's legal fees. For each day it fails to do so, it will be fined a further €200,000.
FOSS Patents owner and IP activist Florian Mueller said: “If this is true, it is only related to the prejudgment seizure order.

“This means Sony can resume the distribution of PlayStations across Europe for now, but there will be a full-fledged legal proceeding to determine whether there is an infringement – and if so, how much Sony owes LG for it.”

When Sony releases a new firmware, its one of 2 things...apply new security patches or new features are added. With Sony's new 3.60 firmware, it's both. One of the new features is the option for Playstation Plus members to store their save game files on Sony's cloud based online storage system. Of course, if you wish to retain your jailbroken console or you plan on or currently have installed a CFW, DO NOT install the new OFW. It will overwrite your firmware and block the use of homebrew.

Hey everyone – We’ve got an exciting new feature coming exclusively to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Included in the system software update (v3.60) coming tomorrow to PS3, PlayStation Network’s new online storage for game saves feature gives PlayStation Plus subscribers the capability to back up game save data to the cloud. Online storage for game saves is a great way for PlayStation Plus subscribers to ensure that their data files are secure and also for users who wish to access their files from other PS3 systems.

The new online storage feature allows gamers to store up to 150MB of game save data and a maximum of 1000 data files per PSN account. Users also have the ability to back-up “copy-prohibited save data,” and all previously saved data may be restored once per 24 hour period. When the new feature launches, most PS3 titles will be compatible with online storage for game saves, and moving forward, all new titles will have the capability to offer the storage option.

As I mentioned before, online storage for game saves functionality is included automatically for PlayStation Plus subscribers with system software update (v3.60), which will be available on March 10, 2011, and users can access their stored data on the XMB at any time. Additionally, users who save their files to the cloud can access their data on any PS3, using their PSN sign-in ID.

PlayStation Plus subscribers should turn on the auto-download feature to ensure that the update will begin downloading as soon as it’s available, so you can start backing up your game saves right away. If you aren’t already a PlayStation Plus subscriber, be sure to check out our bi-weekly post highlighting the free games, discounts and exciting exclusives we offer, in addition to the upcoming online storage for game saves feature.

Other minor features will also be added via system software update (v3.60). For more information please visit http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/ once the update is live.
KaKaRoToKS has confirmed via Twitter: "Wow, in 3.60, Sony removed all the loaders, no more isoldr/lv1ldr/lv2ldr/appldr.. but they added lv0.2! Seems they found a way to secure ps3"

A legal tussle between Sony and electronics manufacturer LG over alleged copyright infringements has gathered pace, with a key courtroom showdown scheduled to take place in Holland tomorrow.
According to court documents dug up by the FOSS Patents blog, Sony is appealing against a court order granted to LG allowing it to seize any PlayStation 3 units stored in the Dutch city of Tilburg. Reports last week claim this could add up to tens of thousands of consoles.
It's a crucial battle for Sony to win. Not only will the seizures have a huge impact on European sales, but if LG's requests are ratified it could open the floodgates for injunctions elsewhere in Europe and further afield.
As reported last month, the dispute centres around LG's claim that Sony has infringed its use of Blu-ray technology. Should LG's suit be successful, Sony could be forced to pay compensation for every single PS3 it has sold worldwide. Which would be expensive.
The new court documents published by FOSS shed a little more light on LG's complaints. Apparently the two parties held talks last year about awarding each other licences for a wide-ranging array of technology.
However, LG only wanted to offer a licence to cover Blu-ray technology whereas Sony wanted a more inclusive deal.
According to LG, the discussions failed, prompting Sony to launch legal action in the US. LG then counter-attacked in Europe, bringing us to the ugly showdown due to play out in The Hague tomorrow.

PS3 Online Storage for game saves arrives tomorrow as part of firmware update 3.60, Sony has announced.
But only PlayStation Plus subscribers can use it.
PS+ subs get 150MB of space to upload and dump saved game files to (to a maximum of 1000). The average game save is 1-2MB. These are then accessible from any PS3 with a net connection.
Uploading to the cloud, to give it a fancier name, requires pressing triangle on the chosen save file, selecting "copy" and the destination as "online storage". When on another PS3, sign into your PSN account, go to Saved Data Utility and hey presto, there's your saved game file.
Save files from games with copy protection can still be cloned and uploaded, but are unavailable to download elsewhere for 24 hours.
If your PlayStation Plus subscription lapses your Online Storage files will be inaccessible until you renew. Save files are kept for six months before deletion, however, allowing plenty of leeway.
A PlayStation Plus subscription costs £39.99/€49.99 for a year or £11.99/€14.99 for 90 days.

Homefront launches next week, but maker Kaos Studios has revealed a sequel is part of its plan – success permitting.
And success certainly looks likely. The near-future first-person shooter is the most pre-ordered game in publisher THQ's history in the US, and Eurogamer understands pre-orders are healthy in the UK, too.
While outspoken core games boss Danny Bilson doesn't expect Homefront to match Call of Duty, Medal of Honor and Battlefield's phenomenal sales figures, Kaos and THQ have been plotting a sequel for longer than you might have thought, Kaos creative director and general manager David Votypka told Eurogamer.
"We've been talking about it for quite a while," he said. "THQ and Kaos have always looked at it as a franchise. Assuming it does well, that's certainly the plan – to move on to future Homefront products."
So, what can gamers expect from Homefront 2?
In Homefront, players join a small resistance force that fights back against a fictional Korean invasion of the US. Votypka told Eurogamer future Homefront products will retain that central theme and be "about fighting for things that are dear to you".
Going further, Votypka teased one mechanic – closely linked to the gameplay – he's keen to implement with the sequel.
"I can't talk too much about it," he said, "but I will say that in Homefront we have some great in-game storytelling moments and we have our combat moments. I'd like to add a third gameplay layer to that. A really gameplay centric layer. I'll leave it at that."

PS3 exclusive White Knight Chronicles II has been announced on the European PlayStation blog - it's coming to Europe. Unfortunately there's no indication of when.
Instead we're given a summary of the game's most eye-catching features: a 30-hour RPG storyline, redesigned combat that's deeply customisable and online co-op for six people - either questing, free roaming or building a dynamic town. Voice and keyboard chat compliments the latter.
White Knight Chronicles II was released for Japan last summer, where it picked up 33/40 from publisher-funded magazine Famitsu. Wikipedia mentions a bizarre feature whereby developer Level-5 demands you finish White Knight Chronicles 1 before you can play WKC2. Odd - we'll investigate.
Eurogamer awarded the Western, International Edition of White Knight Chronicles 7/10.
White Knight Chronicles is also heading to PSP, courtesy of a Matrix Corp.-developed game subtitled Origins. Events here take place a mere 10,000 years before WKC1. There's a 30-hour story to unravel, co-op for four and you can trade quests and avatars with friends.

The PlayStation Store has been refreshed but will be taken down for maintenance at 4.05pm UK time today.
It won't be up and running again until 3am tomorrow morning.
Nevertheless, those fast enough have access to a single-player MotorStorm Apocalypse demo.Eurogamer's MotorStorm Apocalypse review was published this morning, the racing game scoring 8/10. "It works because it's not subtle. Not much about Apocalypse is, from the crushing orchestral dubstep soundtrack, through the astounding visual assault of bounding cars, flying masonry, landslides, dust clouds, twisters and moody, filtered light, to its sheer breakneck speed," judged Oli Welsh.
There's a demo of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 as well as free trials of Explodemon! and Telltale's Back to the Future episode series.
Downloadable content arrives this week for LittleBigPlanet 2 (animal costumes), Homefront, Need for Speed: Hot Paninis and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
