The EZTeam have released kernel 3.0 OB6 for the EZ5i line of flash cards. It joins the other top tier cards in allowing support for the 3ds (potential users do note Nintendo have promised a counter update to all this to be released in the near future) and fixes a bunch of games (including pokemon).
To achieve 3ds compatibility the internal firmware needed an update to v103 for which you need to be at v101 to start the update process (an error should be displayed if you are lower than that but do try to sort things before you get to that stage- this thread has links on the EZ5i firmware).

    Changelog
    Firmware upgrade
    1.Support 3DS,add new AP patch
2.Show warning screens when can not find any TF card and kernel.
3.fireware updated to V103, must upgrade from V101, if not, please update to V101

"Dear customers who resell Nintendo 3DS "
    "non purchase able 3DS system"
In case if you use equipment which is illegal or unapproved by Nintendo or if you do customization which is unapproved by Nintendo, there is a possibility that Nintendo 3DS become non bootable by system update.

    - From Nintendo 3DS terms of agreement

Because of terms of agreement above, Enterking refuses to buy 3DS system with record of illegal or unapproved equipment.

"Request to format before you sell"

To protect from leaking your personal and internet connection information, We ask customer to format system. In case purchasing could not be established after you format 3DS system, Enterking is not responsible for lost datas and settings. Please understand before you format.

Japanese game retailer Enterking issued a notice that it would not be buying back any 3DS units that were used with a R4-type devices - specifically "illegal or unauthorized devices". The notice states that there seems to be a record of such use left on the system. This would be in line with the rumors that the 3DS keeps a log of flash cart use, which then can be checked.

The Nintendo terms of agreement clearly state that it is possible that the 3DS might not be able to boot up after firmware updates if unapproved or illegal devices are used in the 3DS. You've been warned! But will this still stop you?

Here are some videos of flashcards running on Nintendo's new 3DS:

Kazuki is currently developing an adaptation of the popular multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 for the Nintendo DS, " Team Fortress 2 DS . The game is not finished yet or really played but is already well advanced.

    Controls
    DPad - left/right to move
A - Jump. The Scout(1st class) can double jump by pressing A while in the air.
    B - Fire (currently only Soldier w/ rockets and Demoman w/ primary/secondary)
Y - Secondary Fire (Demoman: detonate stickybombs)
    X - Reload
    L - Change weapon backwards
    R - Change weapon forwards
Touch Screen - Change class (must be in your team's base), health/reload testing

    01-25-11
    - Switched the functions of the X and Y buttons. Let me know if you liked it better the other way around!
    - Blu team can no longer go into Red's base and vice-versa.
    - Swapped positions of Blu and Red bases to make it more intuitive since Blu team attacks in attack/defend game types and heading to the right is usually associated with moving forward in a side-scrolling game.
    - Started working on an actual map. If anyone's played Team Fortress 2 before, the map will be Sawmill.
    * I still have no idea how I am going to code in collisions with platforms and stuff without having to hard-code them in. Any ideas?
    * I also need advice on how best to implement shooting with the non-projectile weapons. Should I just use a sprite? Is there any trickery I can do with drawing pixels? I have no clue. :c

    01-22-11
    - Clip and ammo values now on the bottom right.
    - Demoman (4th class) can now fire his primary weapon (grenade launcher) .
    - Demoman can also fire his secondary weapon (stickybomb launcher).
    - - Only 8 stickies can be out at once. Y button 'detonates' them. (They're only deleted currently.)
    - Added reloading and reload sound effects for all classes. Press X to reload.
    - Plus/minus buttons on touch screen now increase/decrease the ammo in your clip for reloading tests.
    - Up and Down changes amount of metal or cloak if you are an Engineer (6th) or Spy (9th) (for testing).

    01-18-11
Changed the 'gameplay' from a horizontal scroller with depth back to just a flat horizontal scroller. Having to deal with jump position, whether or not you're in front of or behind objects, etc. using pseudo-3D in a 2D space was ridiculous and I'm not going to deal with that at all. :3

Health is displayed and you can now choose your team when starting the game (either by stylus or pressing the Y/B/A buttons). If you want to change classes you have to be inside your team's 'base' for it to change.

The four buttons on the right of the bottom screen are for testing. The faces increase/decrease health by 50 at once and the +/- buttons increase or decrease your health as you hold the stylus on them.

Only one class can fire right now and it's the Soldier (guy with rocket launcher; first row, middle column). Currently the rocket only just moves until it hits the edge of the room and deletes itself.

Reggie Fils-Aime has told press that the sparse first-party release schedule for the Wii this year is largely the result of Nintendo focusing on getting 3DS out to market.
Nintendo's only currently scheduled big title for Wii is Zelda: Skyward Sword - with Kirby's Epic Yarn and Mario Sports Mix its only recent releases. However, that will change, said Fils-Aime, claiming the company has not abandoned its console.
"We have had to effectively prepare for the launch of 3DS as well as effectively prepare for the launch of Pokémon Black and White," Fils-Aime told IGN.
"Candidly, we've pushed out some Wii launches so we can focus on our handheld business. We're already juggling two big balls. To add a third would be a little bit challenging. Or a fourth or a fifth.
"We're waiting to space things out and let Pokémon Black and White and 3DS live and breathe out there. But there's content coming and we'll be sharing more in the weeks ahead. We'll be bringing some content out before E3 and then certainly at E3 we'll be sharing some news."

ThatotherDev a Coder who has released homebrew for the PS3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and Windows has posted this news:

    The Bad:

I don’t know why it took me so long to realize it. But a few days ago it occurred to me that I actually was the only one working on original PS3 homebrew at the time when I began my current PS3 hiatus and nobody had taken my place since then. There was laterally nobody releasing original PS3 homebrew. Its not that there was just a disappointing number of devs or that they where working slowly. Its that there really where none. Just nobody at all.

There had been a few homebrew games put out by other people. Lachrymose released a Pong and shortly later a Breakout clone pretty early on. Apanloco released another Pong clone called Spin Pong. Finally Darkhacker released a game called Bomberman (which bares no relation to the bomberman franchise).

But even that most recent of them came out four months ago and those few simple games aren’t much for a system that’s been cracked open now for half a year and the devs that made those games don’t appear to be actively working on any new PS3 brew. Well it would be understandable that things may take time to start there is no evidence to suggest that it will get better. If anything the PS3 scene shows signs of slowing. Its effectively already a dead scene.

Homebrew is by comparison thriving on my other two primary platforms of choice. But the Wii community seems to be slowing. The Wii Homebrew Browser is no longer updated weekly and more importantly the total number of things added or updated each month seems to be shrinking. There is less content available to add then there once was. Similarly I remember a time when the release dates of the latest files posted on the openhandhelds GP2X file archive weren’t so far apart.

    The Good:

Still. there is news that Team XeLove has proclaimed there intentions to port some of their 360 brew along with some unspecified new stuff to PS3. They don’t appear to have ever done any original games of their own which makes me wonder what to expect from their new project(s). But regardless of that I’ll admit that I’m excited by the prospect of OpenJazz, Super Mario War and/or an N64 emulator (though their N64 emulator does seem to run unplayably slow on 360…) showing up on PS3.

Drunken Coders is having a competition this month for GBA, DS, GC and Wii. Nintendomax‘s annual Wii dev competition has begun again and will be running until May 31. Both of theme should incite some devs to work on things they might otherwise not bother making. Speaking personally I’ve already secretly begun working on something specifically for the Nintendomax competition and I’m hoping to be able to throw something together in the next few days for the Drunken Coders competition.

The GP2X community is still alive and kicking also. It may have slowed slightly but for a five year old and slightly obscure system there is still a reasonable amount of stuff that’s been put out for it in the past few months. Even just in the last day there was a new EinStein würfelt nichtgame posted.

So with any luck I think we can all expect to start seeing some cool stuff coming out in the future

Pokémon Black/White, the latest entries in Nintendo's beast-battling handheld series, notched up a whopping 1.08 million purchases in its first day on sale in the US alone.
That makes it the fastest-selling Pokémon title ever, smashing the 780,000 tally set by Pokémon Diamond/Pearl in 2007.
You should of course bear in mind that these sales are spread across two separate games, but still, those are some massive figures.
"These sales numbers illustrate the continued strength of the Nintendo DS family of systems," claimed Nintendo marketing man Charlie Scibetta.
"Already established as the nation's best-selling video game platform of all time, the installed base of more than 47 million makes it the ideal hand-held for developers to reach a huge gaming-focused target audience."
Nintendo hasn't released UK sales figures, but the games topped the multiformat charts after their first week on release. The games have sold over five million copies in Japan since they launched there in September last year.
It's hard to begrudge Nintendo its success here. The games really are rather good.
"With a great many small and well-placed innovations, a vivacious, inventive new cast and the biggest cosmetic makeover the series has ever seen, Pokémon Black and White makes it all feel new again," wrote Eurogamer's Keza MacDonald in her 9/10 review

Playing war-themed videogames like Call of Duty can help soldiers deal with the mental trauma of front line combat by blocking violent nightmares, according to a new study.
As reported by New Scientist, a survey of 98 military personnel by Jayne Gackenbach of Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada showed that regularly playing games that focused on war diminished the level of harm and aggression experienced while dreaming about their experiences.
Not only were the subjects' dream less intense but they reportedly also felt able to fight back against the threatening forces that appear in the nightmares.
A control group who did not play games reported having more violent dreams, as well as a general sense of helplessness.
Gackenbach explained the trend by suggesting that violent games act as a "threat simulator," conditioning the mind to process similarly brutal scenarios that manifest themselves in nightmares.
She also claimed that the popularity of gaming amongst soldiers serving in war zones could be seen as a form of unconscious self-medication against the horrors that many of them witness.
"They're taking (PlayStation 3s, Xbox 360s and other consoles) into the field and playing them all the time. And it turns out, there may be a good reason to let them do that."
