Franxis has updated his port of MAME to the GP32, heres whats new:

The frontend is finally working, which means: All games in a single menu!

Here is the list of changes:
- TheGrimReaper: General frontend working !!!. Only a FXE file is needed in \GPMM\ subfolder (mamegp32.fxe). All other FXE's are placed in \GPMM\MAMEGP32\. Please delete old FXE's from \GPMM\ folder. NOTE: It is NOT mandatory to use the general frontend, FXE's can be copied to \GPMM\ and use the emulator like in previous MAME GP32 versions.
- TheGrimReaper: Source code: Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 support.
- Franxis: Sound core rewritten to be faster. Please, report possible bugs...
- Franxis: Corrected slowdowns in Psycho Nicks Oscar.

Hooka released a new version of Sarien for Beta Testing.

Here's what he says about it:

NOTE: I wouldn't consider this a full fledged release, it's missing too much and is based on sarien 0.7.0 not the newer source in cvs!

I've made a beta of sarien incase anyone wants to check it out! You actually NEED a chatboard for it to work atm, not sure why it crashes if their isn't one but I guess there's better versions with sound out there that have no chatboard support for the rest of you. Also, backspace on the chatboard is enter and their is currently no backspace or esc. I hope to get them added soon. This currently doesn't have sound (it's in there but it's not playing properly so I'm not sure how to fix that yet :S) also it maybe a little fast I slowed it down quite a bit from how it was earlier today but it's still got a bit of tweaking needed. All real thanks goes out to spiv, woogal and ander granlund for this! Without spiv I wouldn't have had a chatboard driver and without woogal I wouldn't have had some example code and well, this is directly based on anders granlunds port of sarien so he gets all the real credit!

Woogal has released a new version of the Port of Quake to the GP32, heres whats new:

Only a beta release at the minute. Lots of new stuff including a little speed increase (thanks to gcc 4.0.1), but I think saved games may be even more broken (hence why this is only a beta). I've been trying lots of hacks to get the saved games working, and I've managed to reduce the saving time, but I'm still getting corrupt files (shouldn't corrupt any other config files any more though). I'm not sure if it's still quake at fault or if my smc is finally on it's way out, so please let me know your experiences with loading and saving. If you have saved games from 0.5 that work then make a backup first as you could easily lose them by running this version!

Demos are also now working in this version, which means the timedemo command also works. If you have a chatboard, type 'timedemo demo1' (or demo2 or demo3) into the console and it will play through the demo then at the end you will be shown the average frames per second. Could some kind person with a chatboard who can overclock high (200mhz+) please do me a favour and post all average fps values from 160mhz upwards (I can only reach 160mhz on a good day). You could even post values with turbo on/off and doublesize on/off if you get bored . The 200mhz value should be particularly interesting as it should show the worse possible case for gpx2Quake (assuming the gpx2 doesn't have hardware floating point - I've seen posts that say it will have but I'm not going to get my hopes up until I have actual hardware in my hands).

Here's the full list of changes -

Approx 10% speed increase (roughly 1 fps) by compiling with gcc 4.0.1 (tested at 160mhz with 'timedemo demo1').
CD emulation added (11khz 8bit mono wav). (check the readme for music instructions)
Console commands that interact with files now work (eg map).
FPS optimisation variables taken from fuhquake (r_fastsky, r_fastturb).
Removed unnecessary options (mouse speed and invert mouse).
Demos fully enabled, but not activated automatically for loading speed reasons. Press start on menu before starting game to see demos (or use playdemo command).
Timedemo command now available (plays demo and calculates average fps - very useful for testing the effect of optimisation variables).
Added cmdlist and cvarlist console commands.
Status bar is visible in doublesize mode. Can be toggled on/off in options screen (or with doublesizestatus 0).
Games save quicker.
Doublesize mode bugfix when saving doublesize settings.

I made a simple website for my drum machine and re wrote my sequencer code so the timing issues should be gone.

This software was inspired by the PSPKick software. I saw a lot of potential and thought it would be a cool experiment to design my own drum machine software that had a user interface similar to the classic Roland TR series drum machines.

I was originally going to make a TR-707 clone but decided to use a digital screen type display because it was more versatile.

Since I am a novice C programmer most of the code I used to make this program had it's origins in the SDK examples and code from wavloader by jpadams (audio) and the Nem's Hello World source (graphics). I have to give these guys props for sharing thier code to show us newbs how to do it. The sequencer code was all mine and is rather simple.

Thanks also go to my brother for making me some kick ass samples to use and Tri for making some great looking graphics!
