MixeryM@axe joins the fun of the PSP Genesis competition (more than 4500$ to win!) with a Flashlite for the PSP, very useful for that time you lost your keys in the dark… It also provides a toolbox for testing your buttons, and test the pixels of your screens. Quite handy

    News via http://wololo.net/wagic/2011/04/10/p...s-compo-entry/

Coldbird and Virtuous Flame announced a while ago that the next version of their CFW would be part of the genesis competition, and here they are, with CFW Pro B4, a new version packed with features.
One of the things that will probably get the most attention is that CFW Pro is now compatible not only with Firmware 6.35, but also with firmware 6.20 (separate download), a feature that was announced as a “big surprise” in an interview here on wololo.net. Not only that, but the 6.20 package actually has 2 versions, one being a regular HEN/LCFW, the other one being a permanent CFW (Permanent patch is not possible on 6.35 for now). This gives even more choice to all the people who were staying on 6.20 to benefit from TN’s Hen. It is now possible to use both TN’s Hen or CFW PRo on 6.20. A way for the two coders to let you try their work, and decide if you want to upgrade to 6.35.
There’s lots of stuff to be said about this new update, but I’ll simply quote Coldbird here:
Sony has always been trying to put a lock on our consoles, preventing us from using the full abilities of the devices we bought, well… if something’s locked then you just need the key, right?

    From 360lizard.com:
    [QUOTE]
We are releasing an update to Gecko OS (1.07) and Lizard Toolbox (B016) to support the C4E 9504 Slim LT release. You can get the Toolbox on our download page and the Gecko update using the Lizard FW Updater application.

In order to be able to generate the CFW files it is MANDATORY to update your Fileset Templates (those file need to be placed in the "CFW_Templates" folder). Visit the Official Fileset blog to download them as they are not included with the Lizard Toolbox Software Releases.

Please NOTE in order to successfully flash your 9504 Drive you need to go to the "Read Key from Slim Drive" option under Slim Liteon Menu on lizard, this will dump a full serial and key area.

** IMPORTANT !!: If you did a dump already with previous Gecko Releases (for example to change the drive for a phat model) you need to re-dump the original drive using the latest Gecko OS (1.07) as this new dump required portions of the firmware not included in previous releases (Key area and full serials).

The Procedure to Flash your drive is as follows (We are doing a proper tutorial)
    a) Get the Key using the Read Key from Slim Drive option on the Slim Liteon Menu on Lizard (this will generate all required files and will send to PC)
    b) On the Lizard Toolbox application go to CFW Generator tab and then to the Easy view and load the source_dummy.bin file just created.
    c) Select the type of firmware to make (original or CFW) and Save As.
    d) On Lizard enter on MTK icon follow onscreen instructions
    e) Go to Write option on Lizard and when prompted send the Generated File (default Liteon_CFW.bin) in the Toolbox.

Currently the Lizard toolbox will not allow you to open the generated firmware on the Advanced Tab, only on the easy view tab, the main reason is because Advanced tab is mainly for spoofing and 9504 release don't allow spoofing. We will work on a fix on the couple of days to enable opening the file on the Advanced tab; but for now it’s not really needed.

Also we have got reports of people that have Drive’s labeled as 9504 but that are reported as 0225, well this is a known issue and it just happen that are 0225 drives that were not re-labeled by the factory, it’s not a TBX, nor Lizard nor Jungle flasher problem.

Also we had a support request from a guy who just did his first bad flash (he accidentally lost power on the drive while flashing). Since the flashing had gotten to the 2nd bank the drive was no long detected nor being able to enter on MTK mode again (he used all tools available, dosflash, JF and lizard). So we just did a Quick Tutorial for Recovery from a bad flash using our friend The Scorpion. It’s not required every time, its similar to Benq Brick and is only required when the flash pass certain stage of flashing and it can happen with any flashing tool.

Last but not least, we want to express many thanks to c4e for his fair play of this release and keeping his word about not locking the release to any specific hardware, that means allot to us and all our customers. Full credit on the Slim LT firmware goes to c4e.

c0z released a new version of his Disk Swapper plugin for DashLaunch. This new version is now also comptable with the 12625 dashboard, which is useful since the 12625-rebooter came out for homebrew 360s:
    [QUOTE]
    Multidisk game switcher
This plugin is not hard coded to require any specific version of dash (fixed in this release) or for any specific game.

    What it does:
If you have games with more than one disk installed on your machine, this plugin takes care of switching from one disk to the other (once you set up the multi.ini file, the plugin, and dash launch of course) ingame.

    v1.1
    - fixes export table lookup to be versionless

Unless you're into weird promotional mascots, video games, or measuring the rotation of the earth, the PlayStation Move probably hasn't caught your eye. Here's an idea: what if you could wave it about to control your PC? Earlier this week, electronics hobbyist Jacob Pennock used the Move.me C library to build a gesture-controlled mouse driver, and we've got the project's tech demo after the break. Watch as Pennock launches Facebook by drawing an "F," starts a video with a jaunty "V," and closes a few items with a quick "X" motion over the offending windows. Control motions are loaded through the creator's own gesture recognition library, called hyperglyph, which he claims can record motions with 98 percent accuracy. As Move.me is currently a closed beta, Pennock is keeping the source code under wraps, but he hopes to eventually put the driver to use controlling a gesture-based Linux media center. Pretty neat, but not quite enough to stave off our Kinect hack envy.

A secret memo released online by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in its 'Vault' has emerged as proof for the famed landing -- or crash or capture -- of a flying saucer with three dead aliens in Roswell in New Mexico in June 1947.

The memo, titled 'Flying Saucers', was written by FBIagent Guy Hottel. The decades-old memo, which was published by the FBI in its 'Vault,' says "three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico', citing an Air Force investigator.
The memo also says the investigator passed on the information to a special agent. Hottel says this about the flying saucer: "They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter." "Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall."
Newspapers were awash with news of the alien sighting, and headlines said a flying saucer has been captured with three dead aliens. Subsequently, photographs of three aliens, who were much like human beings in shape but shorter in frame, emerged along with reports that the dead foreigners' bodies had been autopsied.

The newly emerged Hottel memo also describes the alien bodies found in the flying disc. It says the bodies were "dressed in a metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots."
Initially the military released a statement saying the rumors concerning alien sightings in New Mexico has turned out real with the crash of the flying disc.
"The many rumours regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the intelligence officer of the 509th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain possession of a disc," the military statement said.
Rumors flew thick and fast that the U.S. military had captured aliens who frequently visited the area, fuelling fears of aliens and theories about alien invasion.
But the military immediately backtracked, saying what it had reported as a flying disc with aliens just hours earlier was indeed a weather balloon that crashed in the area. Although the issue died down immediately, theories of a government cover-up of the alien landing resurfaced strongly in the 1970s. Many people believed that the U.S. government covered up the alien issue in order to prevent public panic and since it did not have clear clues as to how to deal with this new, strange problem.
Emboldening the conspiracy theory of the government cover-up, the Hottel memo says there were no further investigations into the incident though the air force investigator passed on the information to a secret agent.
Hottel's explanation that possibly the flying saucer was brought down, or crash-landed, also gives credence to some of the conspiracy theories. He states that, according the informant, the "very high-powered radar set-up in that area" set up by the government may have interfered with the "controlling mechanism of the saucers."
The Roswell incident was forgotten by contemporary people but it resurfaced strongly in the 1970s when serious UFO researchers scanned the issue once again.
Here's some history from Wikipedia: "...in 1978, physicist and ufologist Stanton T. Friedman interviewed Major Jesse Marcel who was involved with the original recovery of the debris in 1947. Marcel expressed his belief that the military had covered up the recovery of an alien spacecraft. His story spread through UFO circles, being featured in some UFO documentaries at the time."
Again, in February 1980, The National Enquirer ran its own interview with Marcel, garnering national and worldwide attention for the Roswell incident.
The release of secret documents from FBI's records will certainly enliven the UFO debate once again. While releasing the document the FBI has said the contents of the memos may not reflect the agency's current beliefs and positions.
