    Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the best Mario game of all time according to ONM readers.

    Members of the ONM forum have been voting for their favourite Mario games and the plumber's latest Wii adventure took top spot ahead of the original Galaxy.

    Commenting on their reader's choice, ONM said: "We're only in the first year of a new decade but already it's hard to see how Miyamoto will better this masterpiece in the next ten years. He took the foundations of Galaxy, threw a ton of genius new ideas at it and added Yoshi."

    Today's top ten is one of several special Mario features on ONM this week as the site celebrates the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. Readers have also picked their favourite moments from the Super Mario series and shared their ideas for new Mario power-ups.

    Uplink for PSP is a Homebrew game for Sony PlayStation Portable. The game was entirely designed in LUA, and it uses Homemister's LuaPlayerHm (version 7 Release Candidate 1).
    The gameplay, graphics and sounds are based on Uplink: Hacker Elite PC Game (written by Chris Delay).
    The scenario is pretty simple: 'You are a hacker looking for fame.That's the reason why you register at Uplink. As an agent, you will have to work for worldwide companies and people to achieve some unworthy tasks: break into security systems, steal sensible data, falsify records...'

    Gameplay

    ============= Gameplay Basics ==================
    First, you have to registrate to uplink in order to create your own profile.You wll use this profile later to get connected to you personal gateway computer.
    When you are connected to your gateway computer, basically you can perform several tasks by clicking on corresponding icon:
    - Display Informations about your current gateway computer: its name, amount of CPU power installed (Ghz), Amount of memory storage (Gb), its bandwidth (Mb/s).Each gateway can be upgraded by installing more CPU Power, more memory devices and extra bandwidth.
    - Display the contents of your gateway computer hardrive, and run/execute softwares.
    - Display your banking status: You have a personal hidden account on International Bank,where your daily fee is transferred everyday at 00:00 o'clock, and where any payment is transferred too.You will later use these credits to buy new softwares/hardware.
    - Open the worldmap : the worldMap window shows the whole world with all mainframes, banks and governement databases location,plus Uplink services.You can connect to any of these public/private servers from your gateway directly or through a bounce connection.

    ============== Security systems & Sofwares ======================
    Most of the time you get connected to a server,you will have to deactivate some security systems:
    Monitor : These softwares start to trace you back anytime you are making suspiscious actions on the password screen.use Monitor Bypass softwares to deactivate them.

    Proxy : Use Proxy bypass softwares to deactivate them.

    Firewall : Use Firewall Bypass softwares to deactivate them.

    Elliptic Encryption Cypher : They main purpose is to encrypt the current connection between your gateway and the host. Use Decypher to deactivate them.

    ================== About Tracing ==========================
    When you connect to a public/private server, you're automatically traced back.
    As a hacker working for Uplink, you must never be traced back completely, or your career is over.
    Use Trace Tracker software to display in real time the traceback operation progress.

    ================== About Password screens ====================

    Most of the systems require a password for logging.Unless you know this password, use Password Breaker software.

    ================= About Servers ==================
    In this game, you have four (04) different types of servers:

    - Banks : a customer account cannot be hacked using Password Breaker.You will have to know the customer's account number and his password.Once logged in, you can read financial details and perform money transfer to another account.
    - Mainframes : They are public servers for sensible data storage, when you can perform illegal downloads.Most of them are just password protected, plus some security systems.
    - Databases: They are highly protected systems and belong to the authorities.They hold records about people.You can modify records.

    - Stores: They belong to Uplink. You can buy there new hardware/softwares.

    Additionnal Informations

    Peter Dille is quite possibly one of the most qualified people to speak about PlayStation's 15 year legacy. Minus a stint at THQ, SCEA's senior vice president has been working with Sony since the PS1 launch, returning for the PS3 era. Not only did we get to speak with him about the past 15 years, but we had a chance to talk about the future and the growing importance of the Network in Sony's vision of gaming's future.

    Joystiq: This is a difficult first question, but what in your mind is PlayStation's single greatest contribution to the industry since its introduction 15 years ago?

    Peter Dille: I think PlayStation changed the business in a way that made gaming popular and accessible to a much bigger audience than had been the case. When we introduced PlayStation back in 1995, we were competing against Sega and Nintendo -- two very successful companies. Largely, folks regarded gaming as something kids did, that something kids would grow out of it once they came to their senses.

    What PlayStation proved was that gaming was a legitimate form of entertainment, and the combination of the Sony brand and the PlayStation product and brand identity resonated with folks who were teenagers, but also people who were 35 years old. And the proof is: in 1995, the business was $2.5 billion, and today it's a $20 billion business. We helped grow this business in a way that I think speaks for itself.

    We knew it was coming, and now here it is: Sony's special edition PS3. To commemorate the impending release of GT5 the console is turning blue, and while the rather vibrant version we saw in the official press photos from August didn't do much for us, seeing the thing in the flesh (admittedly behind glass) gave us quite a different impression. It has the same matte finish as the current PS3 slim, but the rich blue gives it almost a metallic effect. It's really quite a looker, and while we wouldn't normally splurge for such "special" editions, how often does a new Gran Turismo come around? Once a decade at most. This Gran Turismo 5 Racing Pack hits Japan on November 3 for 35,980 yen. That's about $420 of those dollars you've been saving for oh so long.

    We really thought we'd seen it all when it comes to handheld video game controllers, but this upcoming "Ctrl+S" model from UNIQ brings a surprising quantity of new ideas. The most basic innovation is the weird "UNIQ wing" that sticks out from the rear edges of the controller, allowing you to passively support the controller with the insides of your index fingers instead of having to "grip" the controller to hold it up. Yeah, that sounds lazy, but the idea is to reduce muscle stress and cramps, which makes sense for people who game a few hours a day. The relaxed posture is also supposed to help improve thumb mobility, though we'll have to test it out with a game to see if that's actually the case. Around back are some nicely oversized and easily worked analog triggers, along with a grid of repositioned "face buttons."

    The feel of the prototype we were playing with felt just a little too light and a little too "cheap," but that's typical for prototypes, and the promises of improved ergonomics and optimized control placements are certainly compelling. The best news is that the controller will be highly customizable, with tweaks available for the analog sticks, "wings," and even the force feedback motors. We'll see how well this impacts gameplay when the controller hits the market in December for $69.99.

    Nothing spices up waning interest in an aging console like a special edition, and while one could say that announcing three special editions is something of a stretch for the word "special," these certainly are some... vibrant color schemes. At its press event yesterday, Sony announced a couple of new, pupil-assaulting two-tone color schemes for the PSP, along with a Monster Hunter edition that left many an otaku fainting in the aisles thanks to its gold highlights and redesigned analog nub.

    Microsoft reckons the release of Xbox 360 motion-sensor Kinect will be the "biggest platform launch ever".

    The confident predictions go on: Microsoft thinks Kinect will be the biggest home electronics launch of 2010.

    "We're investing in this so people will know Kinect is here," Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer told Eurogamer in a new Tokyo Game Show interview today.

    "Retailers are telling us from their buzz and what they hear from people walking the store asking questions that this is going to be the biggest consumer home electronics launch of this year, and they're gearing up towards that.

    "Given all the momentum that I see and the way we're investing, I'll bet this is the biggest platform launch ever."

    Yesterday Spencer's colleague Aaron Greenberg predicted Microsoft will sell over three million Kinects this Christmas.

    He also said Microsoft will flog "more Kinect sensors than we did [systems] at Xbox 360 launch".

    But the biggest platform launch ever?

    "For the holiday, yeah, I bet it is," Spencer replied.

    "We have 15 launch games - few consoles have shipped with 15 launch games. They're really high quality. And there are some things we can take advantage of - the fact the 360 is a platform people know, so the technology involved in putting a game on the platform, connecting to Live - those are things that developers have become adept at.

    "It will be about how we execute, but we'll see. I don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but we're invested and we expect, yeah, that this will be the biggest launch we've ever seen."

    Some will question Spencer's use of the term "platform". Is a mobile phone, such as the iPhone, a platform? If Kinect is a platform, is PlayStation Move?

    In June Apple revealed iPad sales had topped three million in the 80 days since launch in the US.

    Kinect's due out in the UK on 10th November and costs £130. A £300 Kinect console bundle, which includes a 250GB Xbox 360, Kinect sensor and a copy of Kinect Adventures, will launch on the same day.

    The new, slightly rejigged PSP designed to launch alongside Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 3rd will not be released in Europe, Sony's confirmed to Eurogamer.

    Sony has "no plans" to bring the special edition PSP, unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show this week and due for release in Japan on 1st December this year, to our shores.

    While the console's Japanese exclusivity comes as no surprise – Monster Hunter is infinitely more popular in Japan than in the West – fans will be disappointed.

    The redesigned handheld has grips that click out from the back of the machine, giving Monster Hunter players more to hold on to.

    It has a new, larger analogue stick with an indent in the middle. There are a number of cosmetic additions, too, including various Monster Hunter insignias in gold on the front and back of the console – the silver circle and 'PSP' lettering on the back are also in gold.

    The cross-media bar has been completely reskinned with tribal Monster Hunter designs, and the speaker holes have been redesigned to look like Felyne paw prints.

    The PSPgo is a successful platform for Sony and met sales expectations, SCEA senior vice president Peter Dille has insisted.

    "People, I think, have a mistaken perception that the Go is its own platform," Dille said in an interview with Joystiq.

    "The Go is a form factor for the PSP platform, and it was always intended for a specific consumer: the high end of the food chain that's very comfortable with digital. That's not everybody, and therefore, our expectations weren't that this was going to replace PSP.

    "It's met our expectations, it's part of a bigger ecosystem and it also helps us evangelise a digital lifestyle that we think will continue to plant its roots. In that regard, it's been a success."

    The PSPgo was launched in 2009 as a digital-only alternative to the standard UMD-enabled PSP. In June, Sony offered 10 free games as a purchase incentive to boost flagging sales.

    We're not sure what we were expecting to experience when we picked up this gun-style "shooting attachment" for the PlayStation Move, but it was hardly full of surprises. Basically, it's a comfy, lightweight attachment that makes holding your Move controller feel like holding a gun, and pulling the trigger button feel like pulling a trigger. We do love the retro look, quality Sony construction (we're pre-rolling our eyes at the inevitable crappy third party versions and their inferior plastics) and pretty much everything else about the attachment. The biggest perk is that for shooting games you'll be able to hold your arm out straight more naturally, instead of pointing "up" at the screen with the traditional Move controller grip. Unfortunately, the Big 3 Gun Shooting title we tested it on wasn't showing off 1:1 aiming to really let us know how this would feel in that scenario, but for the on-rails-shooter lovers out there (the attachment puts the face buttons out of thumb's reach, so it's useless for more in-depth games like SOCOM 4 or Killzone 3) we'd say there are worse things you could spend $20 on. Check it out on video after the break.
