UPDATE: Paramount-backed bundles on offer from distributor Gem
UK distributior Gem is readying two new Xbox 360 Elite bundles, MCV can reveal.
The new bundles have been put together with Paramount Pictures to support the upcoming releases of Star Trek and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on DVD.
However the packs don't include the movies on DVD - the films are instead provided on USB, and bundled with the Elite consoles.
The details were originally published in Gem Distribution's The Future supplement, published with this week's MCV.
The Star Trek bundle includes the Elite console, plus the movie on a themed USB stick with the movie on it as well, 800 MS Points - described 'to download Star Trek PDLC', presumably the XBLA game from Paramount - and an extra controller.

Meanwhile the Transformers bundle includes an Elite, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on a themed USB stick, the latest Transformers game and extra controller.
The bundles are a special offer being put together by Gem and Paramount.
Pricing is not yet known, nor is the exact release date or price. it is assumed the packs will appear once the respective movies' DVDs are released, which are November 16th for Star Trek and November 30th for Transformers.
MCV understands that Gem and Paramount will be making an official announcement of the bundles shortly, and that details of which retailers will offer the packs is still to be decided. A representative from the distributor said the packs might end up as a special offer available only through indie retailers.

Microsoft and Sky have said that consumers demand is to blame for the service being pulled from Xbox Live on the same day it launched.

The companies apologised for the delay, and intend to roll-out the movie and TV viewing service in stages to avoid similar problems.

"Sky Player on Xbox 360 launched on Tuesday 27th October and was met with phenomenal demand, with many tens of thousands of customers attempting to sign up within the first hour of launch," said the companies in a statement.

"Unfortunately due to the unprecedented levels of simultaneous demand, we did not have the capacity to satisfy all service requests and therefore temporarily suspended all access to the service.

"Today, the roll-out will be implemented in phases to ensure that consumers experience both a smooth sign-up process and high-quality experience. We apologise to all customers that have not been able to experience Sky Player on Xbox 360, we assure them that this is being rectified and we thank them for their patience," added the companies.

Nintendo has confirmed it is to release a new version of the DSi with larger screens in Japan on November 21.

Rumoured earlier in the week, the company officially announced the console at a press event held in Tokyo.

The console will feature two 4.2 inch screens – a 93 per cent increase on the screen size of the DS Lite - reports Kotaku.

It will be targeted at gamers who want to use their console for browsing the internet and display reading intensive software in a bigger font and retail at JPY 20,000 (USD 220), compared to the current DSi's price of JPY 18,900 (USD 208).

The DSi LL will come bundled with two touch pens and three pre-installed DSi Ware titles – two brain training games and the DS Easy Dictionary. It will come in dark brown, wine red and natural white colours.

Nintendo has confirmed the console will launch in Europe during the first quarter of 2010.

Nintendo has cut its full-year profit forecasts as sales of its Wii home console fall, with net income expected to be JPY 230 billion (USD 2.53 billion) for the year ending March 2010 - down from the JPY 300 billion (USD 3.30 billion) of previous forecasts.

For the six months to September 2009, Nintendo reported a JPY 69.5 billion (USD 772 million) profit, down 52 per cent from JPY 144.8 billion (USD 1.59 billion) a year earlier.

First half sales fell to JPY 548 billion (USD 6.1 billion), a drop of 34.5 per cent. The company has blamed a Wii price cut and the strength of the yen on the lowered performance.

For the six months to September, sales of Wii home consoles were 5.75 million, compared to 10 million for the first six months of the previous year. It expects to sell 20 million Wii consoles by the end of March 2010.

"There were fewer [Wii] software titles that briskly drove hardware sales this six-month period versus the same period a year ago,” said Nintendo in a statement.

Worldwide unit sales of Nintendo DS consoles – including the DSi launched in April in Europe – were 11.7 million during the six months, bringing life-to-date sales to 113.48 million.

While the most recent Pokemon titles performed well, the company admitted that "there were few noteworthy titles released overseas" with game sales for the handhelds reaching 71.15 million units during the period.

    News/release from PixelDragon

    Hi All

I'm back with an updated version of PSPedict, now V0.2.

Three extra edict files have now been included.
    Computer Terms (10,547 entries)
    Legal Terms ( 3,232 entries)
    Life Sciences (31,382 entries)

    Download:
    Download PSPedict V0.2

    Source Code:
    Download PSPedict V0.2 Source Code
(I would suggest people new to programming C do not use my source as a learning tool,
basically because it will be a mess and my knowledge is not that great )

    Original release (V0.1) thread
    [RELEASE] PSPedict V0.1 (Japanese Dictionary)

    Changelog for V0.2:
    - Included support for other EDICT files, Computer Terms, Legal Terms
and Life Sciences. Unfortunately, Proper Names is just too large to
include. The extra EDICT files can be loaded via the Menu (the icon
is next to the exit icon and looks like a book with an up arrow).
Please be aware that study lists and found sets now are exclusive to
their own EDICT files. This means that when you have the Computer Terms
edict open, you can only view found sets and study lists relevant to that
EDICT file. This is because found sets and study lists use an index rather
than saving the actual contents of an entry. This is also to conserve memory.

    - Added Ini file support to store search/sort options. If there are
any problems with the file, just delete "PSPedict.ini" in the data
folder and the file will be recreated when you next launch the app.

    - Match Whole Word has been enabled for Kana/Kanji. What this basically
does is expect to match the whole string only. For example, if you search
for hiragana 'hi' with match hole word enabled, if a string has 'hima' the
match will fail. Strings consisting of 'hi' only will be matched.

    - Fixed the screen flow slightly so it is more natural. For example, if you
exit out of the On Screen Keyboard (OSK), you will now return to the screen
    where you opened the OSK.

    - Deletion of previously saved found set files is now implimented. This can be
done from the "Load a Found Set" menu item.

    Installation
    ============
See the readme in the download file for full information.
Simply copy the contents of the folder "PSPedict" to the
game folder of your psp, e.g. "X:\PSP\GAME" where X: is
the drive letter for your PSP. If you are asked to overwrite
any files, select yes/yes to all.

Please note, installing a new version will not overwrite your
saved found sets or study lists.

    Todo list
    =========
    - Looking at the possibility of including support for Tanaka Corpus example scentences, can't
    promise anything though.
    - Tried looking into using the full OSK as suggested by tinmanx, but couldn't find a way.

The Headsoft Team, which has recently developed Warhawk DS, Just put online version of 1.00 "Manic Miner The Lost Levels DS"Remake of the game platform Manic Miner (ZX Spectrum, 1983). To improve the compatibility with linkers, 2 versions are available .

    Quote:
    Installation

We recommend the EFS version for most people. For people exeriencing problems with the safe-show EFS should try the FAT version. This game requires a patch DLDI compatible card to play.

    * EFS Version - Just copy the included ManicMinerLL.nds file to your backup card and play.
    * FAT Version - MMLL Copy the folder included in the archive to the root of your sd card. Copy the ManicMinerLL.nds to anywhere on your card.
    * DSTT Cards - There may be some problems with this card. We are not 100% sure why but this card does not seem to like. Nds binaries that are larger than 2.7 MB. We may release a new version in the near future with all music from loading EFS / ATF to make a smaller and binary compatible DSTT. Sorry for the inconvenience!
