By now, you're probably familiar with the ambitious, multiplayer puzzle-platformer, Trine. Shacknews is reporting that the upcoming PC version of the game will have an "official" price of $40, with Steam pre-orders available for a discounted $30. (Check out a downloadable demo at BigDownload.) Those who want to experience Trine in the most affordable way possible will want to download the PSN version of the game, priced at $20.

Obviously, that's a rather high price point for a downloadable game. However, developer Frozenbyte says the high production values merit the sticker tag. "Trine is far from a game created by a solo hero developer (we have over 20 employees and Trine has contributions from a double amount of people) ... we are very confident that we can deliver a full retail experience with Trine."

Our early impressions of the game suggest Frozenbyte is right. We'd much rather buy this than, say, the equally priced Watchmen: The End is Nigh. While an official PSN date isn't set, the publisher is expecting a July release. An Xbox 360 version of the game, which will support online co-op (a feature not included in the initial PC or PSN releases), is also in the works. ...

We respect the fact that Gran Turismo 5 will have a billion cars, each made with a trillion polygons and all that. Great. But when will we get to play the damn game? The producer, Kazunori Yamauchi will tell us "soon", apparently.

The game is expected out next year, but exactly when is anyone's guess. When quizzed recently on the game's release, Yamauchi said: "We made the announcement today that [the handheld game player PSP GO] is coming out Oct. 1 [with Gran Turismo 5 on it]. We will give the release date of the Gran Turismo 5 soon."

We think he meant that PSP Go will be out on October 1 with Gran Turismo PSP on it, which looks swell, by the way.

Fingers crossed the PS3 game will get an early 2010 release. ...

Rising Star Games plans to bring Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon to Europe early next year.

The Wii-exclusive RPG will head to the US this winter, and has already been released in Japan, where Famitsu scored it 31/40.

Developer Tri-Crescendo (Eternal Sonata, Baten Kaitos) is at the helm, and pens a story about a boy whose world has suddenly had all its inhabitants mysteriously removed. He must explore, using his torch, metal detector and microphone to solve puzzles and uncover hidden enemies.

You'll be able to pick up items like sticks, crowbars and hatchets to swing around in motion-sensing Wiimote fashion. ...

Who says the Dreamcast is dead, years after Sega left us the Console is still getting Commercial Games released for it:

Developed by HUCAST, DUX is a 2D shooter that combines strategic gameplay with exhilarating shooting not completely unlike its predecessor.

Instead of orbiting satellites, control a cute and chic, pink and orange aircraft and shoot down all the opposing forces.

Utilizing the graphical capabilities of the console, the game includes some smooth and vibrant movies that will surely stimulate your gaming appetites.

Although the tactical aspect is still present, it plays a smaller role than in Last Hope, making the system easier to master. Still, not everything depends on your reflexes and button punching skills, you also need an intact brain with adequate memory to carry yourself through this crisis.

Now have a look at the colorful screens:

Dux is available as Limited and Standard Editions. The Limited Editions carries and original soundtrack that records all music in the Obvious Soundtrack and original pieces.

    DUX US$ 27.90

Another Dreamcast shooter is going to hit the markets soon, watch out for the Pink Bullets!

Last Hope: Pink Bullets US$ 39.99

Besides shooters, the comedic brain twister Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles is restocked, order your copy now:

From the day of the PS3's launch, Sony have pursued a bold strategy of constantly launching new, original IP as exclusive titles on the console. But while it's a move that should be applauded on principle, it's just not translating into sales.

Number-cruncher Matt Matthews has, in a report over on GameSetWatch, detailed the sales performance of Sony's new, exclusive titles, revealing a lineup of games that are two-headed beasts: somehow managing to consistently find critical success while being, relative to their exposure and advertising backing, commercial flops.

Excluding games sold as part of hardware bundles, for example, only a single game published by Sony on the PS3 has sold over a million copies at retail, and that's the original Resistance. LittleBigPlanet is close to this figure, but many other high-profile releases - such as Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and Uncharted - are not.

The numbers look even worse compared to sales for exclusive titles on other platforms. Gears of War sold a million units in a month on the 360. Gears 2 sold 1.5 million in the same amount of time. Smash Bros has sold over 4 million units on the Wii, and Mario Kart over six million.

So what gives? Matthews raises the possibility that Sony put too much faith in new stuff. Rather than having Insomniac and Naughty Dog release Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter games, which would have sold, Sony let them first release all-new titles, Resistance and Uncharted, neither of which have so far matched the sales or pulling power of their better-known PS2 platformers

We're also only seeing proper releases in Sony's two biggest series - God of War and Gran Turismo - now. Well, not even now. 2009, 2010. Three, four years after the console was first released. They should perform better than any of the above titles, but you have to wonder whether it has been wise of Sony to release nothing but original titles to date (Killzone aside), when a God of War or two by now may have spurred sales of both PS3 hardware and software.

Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku, is coming to the PSP with Hatsune Miku -Project Diva-. So are her underpants! SEGA has been playing up the "3D modeling" of the Miku character. This is perhaps why?

Then again, maybe these are just her bathing suit — totally innocent. Still, a slew of new screenshots makes some wonder if -Project Diva- is a misnomer of sorts.

The rhythm game will be released on Japanese PSPs early next month. Many will buy it for all the wrong reasons.

It’s official! The North American version of Muramasa: The Demon Blade will come with the wall scroll Japanese gamers got for everyone who pre-orders the game. Gamestop is now accepting pre-orders, so you might want to hurry if you’re scared of the thing selling out.

No news from Rising Star yet as to whether or not they plan to offer the scroll in Europe, but keep your fingers crossed!

It's summertime, and on top of the usual crop of random puzzle games and a return to the Fantasy Zone, Nintendo has a couple of games available for download today that accurately simulate being outside.

What's outside, you ask? No earthly clue. As far as I am concerned my world ends at that heavy curtain I put up to keep that bright light in the sky out. Luckily for shut-ins like myself, two of today's three WiiWare titles help me get that outside feeling from the privacy of my own, darkened living room. Turn the air conditioning off and prepare to cool down with Hudson's Water Warfare (800 Wii Points), a first-person shooter that's all about getting your opponent's wet. Yes, water pistols are the weapon of choice in this shooter, which features online multiplayer for up to 8 players and randomly generated maps to keep anyone from devising one of those pesky strategies.

If that's too much running for you, there's always Natsume's Reel Fishing Challenge (800 Points), which allows you to fish, which I hear is very relaxing and often smelly in real life.

For those of you who'd rather not even deal with the simulated outside, there's always the classic Sega Master System shooter Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa (500 Points) for the Virtual Console, or Agetec's WiiWare offering, Silver Star Reversi (500 Points).

Finally, if you are forced to leave the house, Hudson has you covered with Sudoku Master for DSiWare (500 DSi Points), which offers up 150 new ways to place sequential numbers in boxes.

For all the details, check out the full official listing below. I'd look down there, but it's just far too bright.
