    News from Play Asia:

Welcome to this week's Games Update, our weekly summary featuring all new product arrivals from the last seven days.

Torrents of hit games for various platforms are flooding us this week. Firstly, the long awaited weapon based fighter Soul Calibur IV has arrived. Take up your holy swords and destroy the shards of the Soul Edge.

Embark on a quest of ghost hunting in Zero Gesshoku no Kamen. Horror and suspense is combined to provide you with a bone chilling experience in this oppressive summer heat.

Come back from your ghost hunt and go on a witch hunt. Dokidoki Majou Shinpan! 2 [standard & limited editions] takes on a completely different tone from your previous supernatural phenomenon sighting trip. Instead of unlocking skeletons hidden in your wardrobes, you go out to learn about girls and capture their hearts.

Witches and ghosts are hardly friendly most of the time, but angry gods are fearsome in their own right as well. Izuna the unemployed ninja must set off in Izuna 2 to find her friend and evade the wrath of the gods as well as earn a few bucks and make a living.

The emphasis on money is much stronger in Dokapon Kindom and Dokapon Journey. You are promised the throne of a country and the hand of the princess in these games if your group of friends manage to kill the monsters that rob the country of its gold.

However, there is only one throne and one princess, and why share all that gold if you can keep them all for yourself? Have fun betraying and being betrayed by your ex-friends.

Gold and treasure are tempting a lot of people to venture into dangerous places. Slip into the demon lord's territory and steal all his treasure in Steal Princess: Touzoku no Oujo. And since you're at it anyway, rescue the prince the demon lord has abducted.

You can still be rewarded with anything you wish even if you refuse to betray your friends or sneak into the demon's lair. Just participate in the Windy Tournament in Windy x Windam. The winner's any one wish will be granted and all participants can enjoy the experience of battling out of gravity's constraints.

Reward isn't everything, you can go on adventures for pure philanthropic reasons. Save the world in one of the best RPGs in all time, Final Fantasy IV. The classic game is upgraded with 3D graphics for your Nintendo DS, so newer generations of gamers can still enjoy the epic story.

Another RPG which you save the world, or the universe in is Phantasy Star [JPN & Asian versions]. Get partnered up with an android and soil the evil plans of people who wishes to use machinery to take over the colony.

Aside from the massive amount of new adventure and RPGs that came in this week, two interesting music games also arrived. KORG DS-10 simulates a synthesizer where musicians can compose, rearrange and remix their music on.

Opposed to KORG DS-10's professional uses, Rhythm Tengoku Gold is pure fun. With simple controls that anyone can master in no time, Rythm Tengoku Gold is truly a game for all ages.

Having seen the Wiz/GP3x photo the other day it seems that Gamepark are going to release a GB Micro sized version of the GP2X, is that a good or bad move, would it not be better to release a souped up version of the GP2X with more memory, Hard drive, faster processors that work without recompiling GP2X releases but instantly give more speed to say emulators.

A new batch of screens for Atlus's dungeon crafting game Master of the Monster Lair has been released. Take a look below.

The DS game lets players design and create dungeons that will lure loot laden monsters into its traps. It also features a talking shovel, apparently. We're sold.

Altus has confirmed the game will hit American shelves on October 21, but unfortunately there is no sign of it being released in the UK. We'll let you know if that changes.

With all the recent bad press from Nintendo who are targeting the DS Flash Cart scene and who think that everyone is a pirate although i think that pretty much anyone in the world has some time downloaded something dodgy to their PC but anyway :P

Is it possible to create a Homebrew Only Flash Card for the DS a card that locks out Commercial games and one that Nintendo itself might welcome. It would be something is Nintendo themselves released such a cart, what are your thoughts on such an idea ? ...

Wedbush Morgan's infamous fortune teller Michael Pachter is at it again, this time predicting that a successor to Nintendo's money-printing DS could arrive as early as this year (via Edge Online). In investor notes, Pachter said, "DS sales are solid worldwide, but are weak in Japan, leading us to expect an introduction of a new device in Japan before the end of the calendar year." Looking at the Japanese hardware sales, the PSP has overtaken the DS almost every week this year with few exceptions.

The logic falls in line with recent comments from Nintendo's Satoru Iwata, who said a Wii successor would come only when the Wii itself begins to slow in sales (read: unlikely for some time). If a new Nintendo portable is to be announced, our best guess would be an announcement at October's Tokyo Game Show. That's assuming Nintendo can swim their way out of that kingdom-sized pool of cash. ...

Capcom's Ben Judd has teased the "VERY cool surprise" in store for the PSN version of side-scrolling remake Bionic Commando: Rearmed.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, Judd said that the PSN version of the download game will support rumble on Dualshock 3 and excitingly, remote play on PSP.

"Rearmed is one of the only PSN games to feature Remote Play support," he said. "This one wasn't as easy to add and, matter of fact, there is one point where we had to 'creatively' reprogram the controls to give players the illusion of using 2 sticks (you'll know when you see it).

"The classic 2D side-scrolling graphics really fit with the PSP and just make the PSN version all the more cooler," he added.

"Of course there is one more VERY cool surprise for those of you who purchase the PSN version... but that is another story for another time."

Any one got any ideas what it could be? Surely he's not talking about Trophy support? We'll let you know when we find out... ...

Microsoft has popped the Ninja Gaiden 2 Mission pack back on Xbox Live, but there are still freezing problems that need "a little more time to figure out".

However, the Achievement hiccup has been solved, and anyone yet to unlock any of the 10 new rewards should be "good to go", according to Microsoft's Gamerscore blog.

Those who have already run into problems with the Achievements are advised to clear the console cache or recover their Gamertag.

To clear your console cache, go to the system blade in the Xbox 360 dashboard and select "memory". On the HD symbol press these buttons in sequence: X, X, left bumper, right bumper, X, X.

Once complete, a message will pop up asking if you want to perform maintenance on your storage devices. Yes you do. But remember: by clearing your cache you will need to download any software updates again.

The Ninja Gaiden 2 Mission Pack costs 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) and adds 10 new Achievements to the game. ...

Don't expect a sequel for Sony Japan Studios' quirky PSP and PSN puzzle title echochrome, two of the creative folk behind the game told Eurogamer today.

Producer Tatsuya Suzuki and Kyushu University's Jun Fujiki - whose academic research into realising "trick imagery" in 3D inspired echochrome in the first place - were chatting to us at the Develop conference in Brighton.

It took a bit of discussion before they could work out whether they were allowed to say anything, but eventually, Fujiki told us starkly that "we're not doing a sequel - we're not doing echochrome 2".

It's not all bad news for fans of the mind-bending puzzler, though, because Fujiki definitely wants to work with Sony's development team again - and they're already working on a new title focused on an entirely different kind of trick imagery.

Expect more brain-breaking, M.C. Escher style visuals, then - but not echochrome all over again. Excellent. ...
