Welcome to this week's Games Update, our weekly summary featuring all new product arrivals from the last seven days.

One of the hottest games that came out this week is Bleach: Heat the Soul 5 [JPN, Asian]. Fight in pairs in this brand new Sony PSP™ game, choose any two from the twenty four characters and take on all the bosses' tag teams. The more teams you beat, the more hidden characters you can unlock.

Special skills from the manga are animated in fully voiced video clips, when you filled up your tag gage, launch attacks that combine both character's powers and deal some massive damages.

Another interesting game for Sony PSP™ players is Irem's Ikuze! Gen-San: Yuuyake Daiku Monogatari [JPN, Asian]. Become this hot blooded carpenter Gen-san and defeat the evil construction company that is harrassing the people in town. Gen-san's powers defy gravity and logic, and the wooden hammer is certainly mightier than missiles and tanks.

Two fantasy RPG that sets stage in medieval European land are released on Nintendo DS™, one of them is Luminous Arc 2: Will and the other is Dungeon of Windaria.

Use the engagement ring system in Luminous Arc 2: Will to form pacts with the witches and explore their powers by letting them transform your armor and weapons in dire situations.

Dungeon of Windaria is an epic tale of fantasy, war and romance. Adventure with Izu, a traditional fantasy hero as he joins in the war effort to save his land, preserve peace for his people and the love between the prince and the princess.

Infinite Line director Hifumi Kouno of Nudemaker showed up at last night's Platinum Games event (fully clothed, to our surprise) to debut the studio's forthcoming sci-fi RPG for DS. The game is built around two key concepts: Players command (1) a "highly-customizable" spaceship through (2) a "large and expansive" world that encompasses two galaxies. The team has prepared over 150 ship models, as well as more than 150 potential crew members that can be stationed around the ships. The insides of the crafts are modular, so players can place the bridges, engineering rooms, fire control rooms, etc. as they see fit.

As per The Space Opera Mandate® of 1941, Infinite Line will explore "what it means to be human" in this touching adventure around the stars. Nudemaker plans to show off some actual screenshots -- that will apparently "blow you away" -- in the near future.

We're pretty sure that Castlevania series director Koji "IGA" Igarashi is out to claim an award for "most sequels in a series on Nintendo DS." His latest, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, was revealed by the long-bearded, whip-wielding IGA at last night's Konami presser (and before that, the ESRB), and is set to stir up renewed Castle-mania this fall.

Order of Ecclesia stars a new female heroine who is a member of the ... wait for it ... Order of Ecclesia, a group out to destroy -- who else -- that vile Count Dracula fellow. The game introduces a new Glyph system that Konami promises will offer "more than 100 different combinations" of weapon and spell attacks. These attack mash-ups enable players to unleash two blows simultaneously. Buying and selling items and weapons via the Nintendo WFC is also pegged for this latest, characteristically beautiful addition to the classic 2D franchise.

While we've known for some time that the "Gun Metal Gray" PlayStation 3 bundle -- featuring a shiny 40GB model, a matching DualShock 3 controller and a Limited Edition copy of geriatric sneakfest, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- would be available to Americans, we didn't know until now that it would only be available to Americans logging onto Konami's website. Online and inevitably scarce pre-orders for the $599.99 package will start on May 19th, so you'd better get clicking if you want Snake and Gray Box to face off in your living room.

No, we mean it. Judging by Konami's labyrinthine sign-up process for the Metal Gear Online Beta, you'll need at least several days to prepare a registration, obtain an ID, convert that into e-currency, trade it in for the microfilm, enter the password, steal the key code, write the secret URL on a postcard and summon Hideo Kojima in an arcane ritual.

Note: This bundle is different from the regular, $499 MGS4 bundle which includes an 80GB PS3 and a DualShock 3.

GameSpot is reporting that details for Guitar Hero 4 have been released. The biggest news seems to be that the new release will be adding drums and vocals a la Rock Band. The new drums are to offer three pressure-sensitive pads (which can tell if you are just tapping or really wailing), two elevated cymbals, and a pedal.
"The details in Game Informer also clear up the mystery surrounding the 'innovation' which Activision promised was coming to the Guitar Hero series in a recent earnings report conference call. The article outlines the game's studio mode, which will give users a variety of ways to create their own songs. Players will be able to jam along with one of the game's existing tracks, record songs as they're played, or meticulously detail note charts."

For those of you continuing to have Grand Theft Auto IV lockups on your PS3 even after the May 7th Rockstar patch... tough noogies. The latest 2.35 firmware won't specifically help. Sony says that the "minor update" will "improve stability of some PS3 titles" -- then clarifies that GTA IV is not part of the vagary. Nevertheless, Sony does say that they "have a identified a solution that should resolve the issue." So buck up Niko and get on the horn with Sony, God knows the police won't help.

On Wednesday, Microsoft announced that Xbox 360 has sold over 10 million units in the U.S. SVP of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business Don Mattrick stated, "History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle."

But analysts quizzed by Next-Gen question the logic behind the "first to 10 million wins" idea.

Mike Hickey with Janco Partners says that he sees "little significance" in Microsoft's announcement, calling it little more than "a corporate catalyst for a press statement and a last-chance chest-pounding moment."
"It's unclear to us if Microsoft considers the Wii console from Nintendo to be a competitive product, but we expect the Wii's installed base will likely eclipse the Xbox 360's installed base in CY08, and eventually win the console war by a wide margin."

Michael Pachter with Wedbush Morgan Securities simply called Microsoft's announcement "spin," adding, "Nintendo will pass them this month."

I'm very happy we didn't get into it, because launching a handheld platform is like launching another Xbox 360," he said. "You have to be fully committed, as an organisation, from a resource standpoint, to doing that."
"Frankly we've got a lot on our plate with Xbox 360 and Xbox Live. We don't have any experience in that space. Our content assets don't naturally lend themselves to driving success in that particular market. So we're happy to let Sony and Nintendo slog it out."

The Custom Firmware 3.95 GEN advance slowly and surely and, following your reaction, he changes a little bit. The goal of this news is to show you, in video, the Custom Frimware 3.95 working.

The Custom Firmware 3.95 GEN is still being tested and residual bugs are tracked closely. In the article ([EXCLU] [WIP] A Custom Firmware 3.95 in preparation...), we had clarified the status of the project. Have a look if you have not already done yet.

However, a small thing has been changed with one of your request: Recovery Mode will be launch no more via the R trigger but from the SELECT button. Better, it is now possible to choose between the launch of Recovery Mode or VSH Menu. This is chosen via an option in the Recovery. For information, it is still a little annoying bug to be solved on that part which has just been established but it should not resist too long ...

In the known bugs and unresolved, the 3.95's POPS does not work on the PSP "fat". It would appear that this is a problem of memory but no solution has been found until now. A problem that seems truly difficult to resolve.
This video shows the CFW 3.95 GEN in action in a PSP Slim and Lite
