    Hi All,

TI99Sim is a very good emulator of Texas Instruments
TI99 home computer running on Windows and Unix.
The emulator faithfully imitates the TI99/4 model
    (see http://www.mrousseau.org/programs/ti99sim/)

PSPTI99 is a port on PSP of the version 0.1.0 of TI99Sim.

What's new then in this version ?

    - Speed improvements
    - Add vsync and autofire options
    - Add several new hotkeys :
. settings such as fps, render mode, auto fire speed
can now be directly modified inside the emulator
(no need to enter in the settings menu)
. quick save / quick load current state
(no need to enter in the main menu)
    - Default Hotkeys can now be set in the keyboard mapping menu
(useful to add hotkeys on existing/previous keyboard files)
    - Bug fix in the low battery watchdog

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

If you want to convert games etc ... have a look to Ti99/sim web site
    for more informations (http://www.mrousseau.org/programs/ti99sim/).

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public licence,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

If you encounter any issue with the "save state" then reload the cartridge
you were playing, and then reload the save state.

You can download it here http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/

    Enjoy,

    Zx.

Bootsector posted this very interesting news over at ps2dev

    Hi folks!

As we all know, Snes-station is kinda dead and sources are not available. What do you scene developers think about we join efforts and try to make a brand new port of snes9x for PS2?

I just love PS2 and I really love retrogaming and playing SNES on my PS2 with good emulation quality would be just heaven.

What do you guys think about it?

    Best regards,

    bootsector

Lets hope the project gets some help ...

Ptek has updated the port of Doom to the PS2, heres the release news:

Yesterday I was looking at the source to see how could I enable keyboard support. In fact it was very simple, since PS2 SDL already have support for it, it was just a matter of enabling it on the SDL makefile (HAVE_INPUT_DEVICES=1) and do a rebuild.

Unfortunably it seems to be an issue when loading from a USB mass storage from uLaunchELF 4.12 and enabling the keyboard support… When I try to load it using uLaunchELF, it didn’t started. But launching it from network using PS2client/PS2link it worked fine, even the version that loads the WAD from USB. There must be differences from the way uLaunchELF and ps2client executes the ELFs. I tried to do a IOP reset from the doom.elf but nothing changed.

So, at the moment, a keyboard enabled version is available here but it must be executed from the network.

If you have the means from launching from the USB using other than uLaunchELF 4.12 (Datel AR, older uLaunchELF, whatever) and want to try for yourself, try this. If it works, drop me a comment.

    Now enjoy keyboard support!

(I didn’t have yet the time to look properly to the sound issues and/or enhance the joystick controller…)

We’ve heard that the boosting was quite different in the latest edition of Mario Kart, but it still wasn’t confirmed that snaking was gone altogether. Well, according to Official Nintendo Magazine (UK)’s review, snaking is a thing of the past. Here’s a portion of their review…

The second big difference (in Mario Kart Wii compared to the rest of the series) is the removal of snaking. Ever since the N64 game, practically every Mario Kart game has included the ability to get a speed boost by waggling the controls left and right as you powerslide. This has finally been scrapped, and now your speed boost is determined by how long you can hold the slide.

Concrete details on the Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack, including its release date, will be formally revealed tomorrow, Bungie has said.

The developer has already shown off one map set to be included in the pack; Ghost Town - an "abandoned shell in Africa" set around the Sierra 117 level from the single player game.

"Ghost Town will be joined by a pair of other maps in Legendary," says Bungie, "the first of which will actually be formally unveiled Tuesday - there's one of those press releases announcing it and concrete details about the map's release date and other sundry details. So, much to your chagrin, the wait is a few days longer."

In anticipation for the reveal, the Halo house has offered fans shots of the pack's snow-ed up vehicle roster, which have all been given lovely white paint jobs.

"The Hornet is the only vehicle from this list that has seen gameplay adjustments, in addition to the cosmetic changes," says the developer. "If you've ever used the Hornet in a custom game, its missiles-n-guns variety of dominance is an overpowered spectacle to behold. Fun as that may be for the player in the Hornet, it's a less than awesome situation for players feeling totally helpless while the sky opens up and your Halo experience is reduced to staring at death cam.

"What's different about this version of the Hornet? Its missiles have been removed and its guns have had their effectiveness reduced. It's less of an airborne death machine and more of an aerial support vehicle now."

Our investigators tell us we should probably expect some snow maps, then. Because the arctic camo would stand out like a sore thumb in the jungle. ...

D3Publisher has promised a ginormous expansion for Puzzle Quest on Live Arcade this spring.

The publisher wants help naming it, too; starting today and ending on Friday you can submit ideas via the official website. Rather a frustating site, that.

Fresh additions are professions Bard, Rogue, Ranger and Warlock, as well as an undiscovered area containing 25 quests.

On top of that are 50 spells and 40 items to collect, and the story of Antharg, Lord of Plague to unravel, which means fresh bosses and monsters.

That all adds up to excitement, in our calculator, because Puzzle Quest was one of the freshest and most fiendishly addictive games of last year.

Adventure over to our Puzzle Quest Live Arcade review to find out more.

Puzzle Quest will also be given a proper sequel sometime this year that takes place in the far, science-fiction, future. ...

Though Ben's still hard at work at the modular "Access" one-handed controller to be sold by eDimensional, he's certainly not frittering away that free time of his. The latest and greatest mod by Ben Heckendorn is a refined version of his right-handed Xbox 360 controller.

As opposed to the one-size-fits-all modularity of the Access, his one-handed controllers puts all the buttons easily within reach and places the right analog stick at the base of the controller -- you play the game by moving the analog stick against your leg. The new version has slimmed down the design considerably and spruced up the aesthetics -- thought the inclusion of a PS3 d-pad could be seen as sacrilege to some. ...

Wolped has updated his entry into the Neoflash Coding Contest, heres the full details:

    Nickname: wolped
    Project name : DS-DOS
    From : Minnesota, USA
    Division : NDS APP
    Original enter : YES
    Support Motion : NO
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10 : NO
Project description: DS-DOS is an MS-DOS type clone, featuring a command line interface.

    Latest Version .45

(iDeaS cut off part of the picture)

The rest is from the readme:

    DS-DOS a MS-DOS clone by Shawn Winkels.

    Version .45
-Fixed names larger than 6 characters (thanks cornaljoe)
-Fixed bug that stopped hardware if fat3.dldi wasn't found

    Version .41
-Added Ability to copy files between cards

    Version .21
    -Added NeoFlash compo splash screen

    Version .20

    -Fixed some copy problems
    -Cleaned up "dir" command
    -Added "lock" and "ulok"
    -Added restart by pressing Start
    -"cd" is still broken
    -sound is still broken

DS-DOS is a first filebrowser of it's kind. This text-based application will allow
you to view/copy/move/delete/rename files on your memory card or built-in memory.
It also allows you to boot other .nds binaries (users of certain cards may have
trouble with this). Don't forget to DLDI patch it.

    Currently Implemented Commands (case-sensitive)
    date displays the date
    time displays the time
    cls clears the screen
    help displays help
    ver displays DS-DOS version
    del allows deleting of files
    copy allows copying of files
    move allows moving of files
    ren allows renaming of files
dir displays a list of files and directories in current directory
    cd change the current directory
lock locks the filesystem, preventing use of del/copy/move/ren
ulok unlocks the filesystem allowing use of del/copy/move/ren

To boot any .nds file, just type the filename (myndsfile.nds). If it is currently
in a folder, you will have to type the full path unless the folder it resides in
is the current working directory (folder\myndsfile.nds).

To use the extra device, you must have a dldi file called "fat3.dldi", which is a
renamed dldi file of the other device you want to use. To boot an .nds file on the
other device, you would type "fat3:\myndsfile.nds". Copying, renaming, moving, and
deleting all work this same way.

For some reason, typing any commands larger than five characters long, may break
certain commands. To fix this, press Start to restart DS-DOS (file must be named
    dos.nds).

Thanks to: TeenDev for bootlib; Chishm for libfat; cornaljoe for character fix:
Everyone involved with devkitPro and PAlib; And to all Nintendo DS homebrewers.
