As if it wasn't completely inevitable, the Halo 3 concept art bundled with the limited edition Microsoft Zune has appeared on the internet, revealing more glimpses of what we can expect from the single-player campaign.

There's also a lot of artwork in there starring both the Chief and his Elite mate the Arbiter. How heavily will he feature in the campaign? Quite a lot if this artwork is anything to go by.

If you haven't picked up your copy of Crackdown yet, the multiplayer beta is still rolling. Bungie released an update yesterday adding Big Team Training and the Banshee - which Mike J still can't pilot to save his life.

Having been in hiding for several months, Gearbox Software's Brothers in Arms sequel Hell's Highway has finally stepped back into the light.

And pretty damn impressive the WWII first-person shooter's looking too in a new gameplay trailer that's emerged from Ubisoft's UbiDay event happening in Paris. Check out the goods on this here page. New shots have been released too.

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, which is in development for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, is based on Operation Market-Garden, the ill-fated Allied attempt to bring a swift close to the war in one daring offensive.

That was quick. Following the announcement Monday of an 80GB PS3 model for South Korea, the AP was informed by a Sony official today that the model is being considered for the US and elsewhere.

The quote that the AP uses is a bit ambiguous and really isn't much different than what we've been hearing since Monday. Sony spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka says, "Increasing capacity for models is one of the options ... We make such decisions depending on the needs of the market, and every country is different." Although they didn't get it in a quote, the AP says further on that Fukuoka did say they are considering the 80GB model in the US and other markets.

An 80GB model is great, but would this be a horrible time to mention the Xbox 360 Elite? Although being a rip-off of an upgrade compared to the regular Xbox 360, it still has a 120GB hard drive and HDMI. Even if the 80GB PS3 model enters the market at the 60GB model's current price, the Elite still has it beat by 40GB and being around $100 less. Yes, yes, add the HD DVD drive and it's practically the same price -- touché. Also, if it's just about a hard drive upgrade, you could simply do it yourself. At least the 80GB model is coming, we wonder what other changes Sony will place under the hood before release. ...

PSP will be the home of the next R-Type game, titled R-Type Tactics, reveals the latest issue of Famitsu magazine.

Firm gameplay details are yet to be revealed, but the word 'Tactics' in the title suggests it being some sort of turn-based strategy battle game, a theory supported by one of the screens in a blurry photo of the magazine. Just look to the right at the screen above the black box - that looks like a grid-based battle system to us.

We'd hope that the traditional shoot-'em-up gameplay of the series isn't completely abandoned, but we'll have to wait and see. ...

Hot on the heels of this week's announcement of seven more songs for the 1980s-themed Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, Activision has announced the first batch of songs for Guitar Hero III. The full list for the latest rhythm game, first revealed during an earnings call earlier in the year, is below--and contains many tracks by the original artists:

    ORIGINAL RECORDINGS:
"Cult of Personality" by Living Colour
"Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones
    "Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins
    "Sabotage" by Beastie Boys
    "The Metal" by Tenacious D
"My Name Is Jonas" by Weezer
    "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse

    COVER SONGS:
"Rock And Roll All Nite" as made famous by Kiss
"School's Out" as made famous by Alice Cooper
"Slow Ride" as made famous by Foghat
"Barracuda" as made famous by Heart

The company also confirmed that the game would be getting two new controllers--a Gibson Les Paul guitar model for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii consoles, and a Gibson Kramer guitar for the PlayStation 2. Both controllers will be wireless.

The new game will also get a host of new features, including a "multiplayer action-inspired battle mode," and authentic rock venues. An expanded online multiplayer mode will allow gamers to compete with other guitar heroes worldwide.

RedOctane's head of publishing, Dusty Welch, said that the team had listened to fans' requests for this edition of the game. He commented, "Many of the top bands and songs we've tried to get in the past are now on board, and we've definitely got some giant aces in the hole to say the least."

Guitar Hero III is due for release on the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii this "fall." It will be the first full-fledged entry in the series to be developed by Activision's in-house studio Neversoft--the first two Guitar Hero games were made by Harmonix.

With Killzone 2's release date still very much up in the air--more information is expected at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in July--it looked like there would be no PlayStation 3-exclusive first-person-shooter counterweight to Halo 3 this fall.

That is no longer the case.

This morning, Ubisoft revealed that the PS3 is now the "lead platform" for Free Radical's forthcoming shooter, Haze. Originally set for a release on the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 this spring, the game will now debut solely on the PS3 this fall.

    Haze MantelCorp wants you!
Watch | Download In fact, the fact sheet provided by Ubisoft no longer lists the PC or Xbox 360 versions of the game, prompting some speculation that it may become PS3-exclusive. The UK Haze site for the game also only bears the PS3 logo, although the American Haze site still sports the Xbox 360 and PC-DVD logos at its bottom.

When contacted by GameSpot, Ubisoft reps were somewhat cagey. "Haze is leading on PS3, but no exclusivity for any platform has been officially announced," a spokesperson said. This leaves open the possibility that the game could arrive on the 360 and PC sometime in 2008.

Set in the year 2048, Haze foresees a near future where megacorporations dominate the planet with private armies. Players assume the role of a solider for one corporation, Mantel, which outfits its troops with high-tech weaponry and biomechanical serums. For more information, check out GameSpot's latest Haze impressions.
