WinUAE v4.1.0 Final is released. WinUAE is the commodore amiga emulator for Windows. WinUAE is a mostly complete software emulation of the hardware of the Commodore Amiga 500/1000/2000. A Commodore Amiga, for those who don’t know, is a 16/32 bit computer system based on the Motorola 680×0 CPU and a few specially designed custom chips that provide very good graphics and sound capabilities. Its first incarnation, the A1000, appeared in 1985, followed by the highly successful A500 and A2000 models. WinUAE is a port of the originally written for Unixish systems UAE; but over time, it seems the Windows port, WinUAE has become the best version available on any platform. WinUAE is free software: you are welcome to distribute copies of it and/or modify it, under certain conditions. There is no warranty of any kind for UAE. For more details concerning these issues, please read the GNU General Public License, which describes the terms under which WinUAE is distributed.

QEMU v3.1.0 is released. QEMU is a generic and open source machine emulator and virtualizer. When used as a machine emulator, QEMU can run OSes and programs made for one machine (e.g. an ARM board) on a different machine (e.g. your own PC). By using dynamic translation, it achieves very good performances. When used as a virtualizer, QEMU achieves near native performances by executing the guest code directly on the host CPU. A host driver called the QEMU accelerator (also known as KQEMU) is needed in this case. The virtualizer mode requires that both the host and guest machine use x86 compatible processors.

    2. Nintendo DS News

melonDS v0.7.1 is released. melonDS is an open source Nintendo DS(NDS) emulator. melonDS is part of a second wave of DS emulators. There are a few other emulator projects that are part of it, which you might have already heard of. Either way, check them out!

    melonDS Features:
    * almost-complete 2D graphics
    * 3D graphics (software renderer) with texturing, alphablending, lighting
    * input: keyboard and joystick, touchscreen
    * backup memory
    * booting from the BIOS
    * resizable video output window, preserving aspect ratio of individual screens

    melonDS Changelog:

    As title says.

We're not showing screenshots because they wouldn't be a good medium for conveying the number of changes in this release.

The biggest change here is that the core timings were entirely renovated to try being closer to the hardware.

First of all, after several days of gruelling testing and guesswork, we were finally able to understand the GX timings, and emulate them properly for the first time. But, as we weren't gonna stop there, we also renovated the timings for DMA and memory accesses, so that both of them are closer to their hardware counterparts. DMA and ARM7 should be pretty close to perfection now, ARM9 less so but it's still more realistic.

We have also been fixing the emulator's main loop, so that the ARM9, ARM7 and system clocks shouldn't desync anymore.

All of this, with a few added optimizations, fixes a whole bunch of issues, from things flickering to audio crackling to games outright going haywire (hi RaymanDS). Your games are now running better than ever!

... or not. That's also the point of the 0.7.1 release, I want to hear about any issues caused by the timing renovation, so we can get them fixed for the epic 0.8.

We already have one such issue, all of this is causing sprite flickering in Pokémon Platinum. Quick attempts at fixing this went nowhere, so we will have to investigate this proper.

There's also a number of misc fixes. For example, the 3D glitches that showed up in Mario Kart DS were fixed, but there's already a lengthy post about this.

There's a small fix to 2D windows, nothing really noteworthy, just fixes a game that was setting up backwards windows.

The input system no longer requires a dpad to be mapped to directional keys for joystick axes to work.

The code that looks for local files (melonDS.ini, BIOS, firmware...) was modified to explicitly check the directory melonDS is in, if that is not the same as the working directory. So in these cases it will no longer fail to find its files. Also, if melonDS.ini is absent, the preferred directory for creating it is the directory melonDS is in.

And, finally, we finally got rid of the old savemem type autodetect code. Considering its complexity and the amount of failures, it was a trainwreck. So instead, now, melonDS will pull that information from the provided ROM database (romlist.bin).

Edit- If your game is still failing to save: you might have an old failed save file lying around, try deleting it. When a save file is present, melonDS determines the savemem type from the file size, so if a file is present with a wrong size, you will have to delete it.

    Enjoy!

    2. PS1 News

Yifan Lu and madmonkey1907 managed to dump the PlayStation Classic MTK boot ROM via serial interface and then realized the key Sony used to encrypt areas of the system was the shared public key as opposed to using a private key kept secret as it should be in this case. In other words Sony failed to secure the device by mistakes in the encryption signing process, and it's not the first time that happens. You can use this search to find the related releases so far in the download section for this hack. News spread around quickly on Twitter so mainstream outlets like arstechnica.com and hackaday.com picked up the story. Thanks goes to GaryOPA for letting me know about the BleemSync tool.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate breaks franchise records to become this week's No.1 UK boxed game.
It is the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game released so far, eclipsing the combined launch sales of Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon: Let's Go Eevee.
The game's launch sales are 302 per cent higher than the numbers achieved by Super Smash Bros for Wii U and they're 233 per cent higher than Super Smash Bros for 3DS. Launch sales are also 62.5 per cent higher than the Wii game Super Smash Bros Brawl. All of which means Ultimate is the fastest-selling Smash Bros game in the franchise's UK history.
It's worth noting that the sales only include physical numbers, so digital downloads of Ultimate have not been counted.
There was a Switch hardware promotion this week featuring Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, which boosted sales of that game 45 per cent week-on-week. The title rose four places to No.5.
Over Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the launch of Smash Bros, around 200,000 Switch consoles have been sold in the UK - retailers have told us.
The arrival of Smash Bros means that FIFA 19 loses its No.1 spot, and actually falls two spaces to No.3. Red Dead Redemption 2 holds firm at No.2 for a second consecutive week.
The other big new release this week is Just Cause 4. The Square Enix title debuts two spaces below where Just Cause 3 landed three years ago, and sales are down 61.5 per cent compared to the launch sales of that game. It's the slowest selling Just Cause game released so far, although if digital sales were included, it may have outsold the 2006 original.
The PS4 version of Just Cause 4 accounted for 55 per cent of the sales, with the rest coming on Xbox One.
One other new launch this week was PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on PS4, which propels the action game back into the charts at No.22 (sales up 321 per cent).

So the first post on our new forum for Marvel News, im a massive fan of the MCU but not really a comic fan, first off heres the trailer

So we dont see a lot in the trailer but some key points, are Tony Stark/Ironman with Nebula, it looks to me like hes near Knowwhere ? as hes running out of air. 42 seconds in, is Nebula in the milano with stark ?

Captain America has got rid of the beard yeh.

Black Widow still has the blonde hair and hasnt aged much ?

Scott Lang knocks on the front door of the avengers base, so he got out the Quantum Realm? and also has the van to get into the quantum realm.

    Bruce Banner is there

Hawkeye obviously lost his family and is now adopting the ronin persona.

Thanos is still farming and has the damaged infinity gauntlet and his armour is acting as a scarecrow.

Nice touch with the dusting of the logo and also the joining together for the title.

    Tony is in the Milano

Thor is in normal clothes and no rocket Racoon. ...

It's a bumper week for UK video game sales, with 1.66 million boxed games sold and more than £53 million in revenue.
Unfortunately, it's a weaker Black Friday than last year, with revenue down 4.6 per cent and unit sales down 6.7 per cent.
There's a few caveats to consider, of course. The first is that digital sales are not included - we do not know if download sales over Black Friday were up or down. In addition, Black Friday ran for a far longer period this year, having started (in some cases) up to two weeks before.
Discounting on FIFA 19 propelled the EA game to the top of the charts (it was also bundled with PS4 consoles). The title's average selling price was just over £30 (on Switch), and under £40 (on Xbox One and PS4), which meant the game shot up 177 per cent in sales to reclaim No.1.
Also firing back up the charts with an impressive 360 per cent sales rise was Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Activision's game was discounted even further, selling at just over £35 on average.
It means Red Dead Redemption 2 (which wasn't discounted) fell to No.3. But even the Rockstar game enjoyed a small sales improvement (up 36 per cent) thanks to hardware bundling with PS4.
All of this means that the one big new release of the week, Battlefield V, had to settle for No.4. It's not a great start for EA's shooter, with launch sales down more than 63 per cent compared with 2016's Battlefield 1. Even with the expected rise in digital sales, it seems like the shooter is another AAA title to struggle in the current marketplace. However, it did perform better in its first week than titles such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Fallout 76.
One interesting stat about Battlefield V is that the game sold best (in a box) on Xbox One. Microsoft's console accounted for 50 per cent of the game's sales.
It wasn't the only new release in the charts, however. The impressive Farming Simulator 2019 makes it to No.16, while Bendy and the Ink Machine comes in at No.30.
As for last week's big new games, Fallout 76 dropped 51 per cent in sales week-on-week. Bethesda's game was discounted slightly over Black Friday (barely a week since it came out) and now sits at No.7.
The online title is just ahead of Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu at No.8, which saw sales drop 43 per cent week-on-week. That game's sister title, Pokémon Let's Go Eevee, dropped 55 per cent in sales and is at No.18.
However, it was Spyro Reignited Trilogy that endured the heaviest fall. Sales fell 62 per cent week-on-week and the game tumbled from No.1 to No.9.
Black Friday is a big sales period for hardware, and you'll often find exclusive games (particularly those bundled with the consoles) tend to perform strongly during the weekend. According to retailers talking to Gamesindustry.biz, more than 300,000 consoles were sold over Black Friday. It was pretty close between all three formats, but we understand that PS4 was the best-selling machine, narrowly ahead of Xbox One, which was narrowly ahead of Nintendo Switch. Over Black Friday, PS4 consoles were being sold at just over £220 (with bundles featuring FIFA 19 or Red Dead Redemption 2), Xbox One was on sale for as low as £170 with a game (including Forza Horizon 4, Minecraft or Battlefield V), while Nintendo Switch saw its first real price drop, falling by around £20 in price overall.
As a result, Xbox One exclusives such as Forza Horizon 4 (No.5), Minecraft Master Edition (No.33) and Forza Motorsport 7 (No.34) all shot up the charts, with sales rising 535 per cent, 1768 per cent and 573 per cent respectively.
PS4 exclusives Spider-Man (No.6), God of War (No.21) and Detroit: Become Human (No.35), saw sales rise 634 per cent, 1283 per cent and 826 per cent respectively.
