Indepth Details
In Depth:
Payback is entirely non-linear - to complete a level you simply have to obtain a certain number of points - how you get those points is entirely up to you; you can do what the local kingpin tells you, uncover secret missions or just go on a mad killing spree. There are lots of hidden surprises to discover, so you'll have to play the game through several times to find all the extras.
Take on the police, stage a prison break, take on the Mafia, steal cars, trucks, buses, taxis, tanks and even helicopters!
Use a flame thrower to set fire to your enemies, run over the local police chief, rob the city's biggest bank - you choose what you do to succeed - or how you die trying.
The GP2X version features a full voice & radio tracks, awesome 3D visuals, full TV out support, jukebox mode (make your own soundtrack), over 50 missions and 11 cities to cause mayhem in.
Boxed version comes on a huge 512MB SD card.
Requires at least 2.0 firmware.
+ New for the GP2X: Full high dynamic range lighting - a first on a handheld machine. The lighting in scene is calculated based on the real laws of physics - so a red wall illuminated by bright sunlight will tint the environment around it red, sunlight dazzles the player, street lamps leave trails, vision takes a moment to adapt when you enter a dark alleyway.
+ New for the GP2X: New & Redesigned vehicle models with 50x as many polygons than previous versions
+ New for the GP2X: Streaming dialogue for every mission.
+ New for the GP2X: Totally redesigned front end and HUD.
+ Varied soundtrack - 20+ songs, including 7 new tracks added for the GP2X version. Also new to the GP2X version is a converter which allows you to add tracks from your own library to the game.
+ Fully 3d environment, with spectacular particle effects and totally destructive vehicles. Based on the highly optimised GBA core, the 3d engine has been radically reworked and optimised for the GP2X, making this version of the game by far the most advanced yet made.
