For the last few months I have been working on a new download database for all dreamcast releases, and I'm happy to say that its really to launch

    DCNews.co.uk New Download section

I would like to thank Metafox, Quzar, SouLLy, GPF, Bluecrab, dawd, Mark30001 and wraggs for helping me set this up (sorry if I forgot someone)

Also lets not forget all the coders that made all the homebrew

Also thanks to Martin for hosting and installing Cfiles

All dreamcast releases should be there but if I have missed any please to report them ( or even submit them yourself )

Downloads are free, you don't even need to register, but if you do register, you can vote, submit and leave comments

There is a problem with the register for hotmail and yahoo users, but works fine for other e.g. Gmail, I hope to have this fixed soon.

Also as all releases are now on cfiles, dchomebrew now redirects here, well only dchomebrew.org/index.shtml all other links to dchomebrew e.g http://www.dchomebrew.org/kamjin/ still work.

Also from money generated from all the ads on DCNews.co.uk will be going back into the deamcast scene via contests or donation to coders
e.g. DCGP or DreamOn, or "get a bba for coding etc

So if you would like to support the scene you can click on the pay per click adds on the top (left of logo) or buy some stuff from the feature online store ads

This includes all ads bar the to google adds above the news post area ( they go to hosting and I encourage that you lclick them to help martin pay for hosting)

    thats all, I think

    digg it ...

Someone called Scrivener has posted some interesting bits on the PSP, seems like he knows his stuff but we cant clarify who he is:

Ok, so onto some PSP news…
The GPS is currently on hold. Bummer, I know. PSP has outsold DS and DS Lite by 1.2m units (Edit: Checking on this. May actually be NA only). The PSOne emulator will be attached to an October firmware update. The online store for PSP and PS3 should launch soon thereafter (around November 11). A new PSP entertainment pack is coming next month. It costs $250 and includes a 1GB MSPD, ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin Trails (game), and Lords of Dogtown (movie). No headphones.

PSP integration with PS3 is still planned. You’ll be able to use your PSP as a remote control for your system. Currently, the plan is that you’ll even be able to see your PS3 screen on your PSP so long as both are connected to the same network (almost like a location-free player). This feature may not be ready for launch, but if it misses, it will be added in an update soon after.

More than 200 new PSP titles will ship between now and Christmas!

You know about the disaster that was UMD movies? Well there’s a reason for that. Usually Sony works with companies who license their products and lay down certain ground rules (pricing, features, etc). With UMD, they had a hands-off approach and movie studios just started releasing every piece of shit movie in their vault, without special features, at highly inflated prices. Sony is not happy about this at all and is going to try to jump start the UMD movie scene again (could take up to a year) by requiring that releases meet certain guidelines. Guidelines may include an MSRP limit of $15 and that UMDs include all the special features of their DVD equivalents. It’s possible that it may be too late to save, but Sony has a lot of muscle and the PSPs multimedia features are its biggest selling points… especially considering the target consumer is a male between the ages of 21 and 40.

    starts a new game.)
-High Score displayed (Only for this session. Still working on the save game stuff)
-Some graphics improvements. Still have work to do on this for next release.

    Thanks for taking a look!

This is the (probably) last version of Drag Mini, as I will soon start on Drag, which wont be a minigame, but a full blown work of art!

    Fetures:
    (+)Wifi, Go ahead play online!
(+)Tells you if you win or lose (or tie...)
(F)Blown Engine, so is more accurate
    (+)Menu
(F)No more constant Memory Stick light flashing during car select

Below is a Pic of me pwning youresam (thanks for testing!)

    Controls:
    Start to quit
    X to accelerate
    Triangle to Brake
    R to increase Gear
    L to decrease Gear

Since this is using netLib you will either need the custom netlib luaplayer by me or youresam. Or you could use the standalone eboot.

Thanks to: youresam, xigency, PTPTaylor(name change?), and anyone else I forgot to mention for testing this. And also Major thanks to youresam for making netlib and helping me get all the bugs out!

If you find a bug or error, please send an email to coolsdev [ at ] gmail [ dot ] com

If the game crashes from line 1 - 129, it just means that you have not connected to netlib properly, just reset the wifi switch and try again.

Edit: New File w/Bugix, please redownload!

    ** X-Flash V15c **
Play Free Space and Save Our Planet.

    - Win Free Space and a prize is unlocked permanently for the
    current X-Flash installation.

    - Save custom XMB label set as a file for later use or sharing,
and read from the file back into the XMB label editor.
    - The HOME and START buttons will now exit program from
within the custom firmware configurator and label editor.
    - Added startup checking of Theme.XF file, and Labels.XF file.
    - Added a new screen to the ASCII graphics demo.
    - Added feature to exit program and put PSP in standby.
    - Removed slow motion mode from ASCII credits demo.
    - Removed fast foward Easter egg from ASCII credits demo.
    - Bugfix to ASCII credits demo where line and circle drawing
routines excluded drawing on the bottom line of the screen.
    - Fix to Memory Stick free space check before firmware dump
to support over 2Gb for the new 4Gb Memory Sticks.
    - Another three Easter Eggs?

    ******************************************

    X-Flash Easter Eggs as of X-Flash V15 (11th September 2006)

    1. Use 13.37 Special version Spoofer to apply the 13.37 version spoof.
Now when you are in the credits demo, or document reader, the Triangle
button will toggle a 1337 text translator.

    2. Go to the menu option to start Simulation Mode, and select it with the
Circle button more than six times in a row before performing a firmware
dump, and the ASCII hand will flip you the finger!

    3. Set "Art" (case sensitive) as your PSP nickname in the XMB menu prior
to starting X-Flash. Now when you apply a custom nameplate picture, a
special built in X-Flash splash screen will be written to flash instead
of the file XFLASH/Modified/name_plate.png. This is different from the
sample name plate picture included in the Modified directory with X-Flash.

    4. Press Cross during the starfield display in the ASCII credits demo, which
will start the Free Space game in that screen. Use analogue joystick, or
the D-pad to control your ship, and press Cross to fire. You can only fire
one bullet at a time (oldstyle), and your ship turns green when it is ready
    to fire a new bullet.
Shoot the enemy five times in a single session before the time runs out,
and the "Free Space" string will be unlocked in the XMB Menu Label Editor
    for the current installation.
You can achieve a high score based on the time that it takes you to destroy
the enemy. If you beat the default high score, your high score will be saved.

    5. Set (case sensitive) "Free " (that's "Free" followed by a space) as your PSP
nickname in the XMB menu prior to starting X-Flash. Now when your Free Space
game is over, you can quickly restart it by pressing Circle to exit the
credits demo, then Cross to enter it again, and a new Free Space game will
    start immediately.

    Hope you enjoy the extras
    Cheers, Art.
