Know what happened to the game Doom II that was supposed to come out on Xbox LIVE Arcade late last year? Is it still coming to Xbox LIVE? Any new info on a release date perhaps?

We don't always have the answers, but we reached out to Bethesda -- who we correctly assumed would be publishing the port of id Software's classic first-person shooter -- to find out.

"It’s still in the cards," Pete Hines, VP of Public Relations and Marketing, told us today. "Just can’t give you a date just yet when it will be out."

So there you have it -- hell on Earth is still making its way to Xbox LIVE Arcade, Jim. We're just not exactly sure when.

    Here's something interesting from IGN:

A lawsuit filed earlier this week against retailer GameStop says the company is "deceptively misleading" its customers into believing a used game purchased from the store comes with all packaged downloadable content advertised on the box. This content, however, is only made available for free to those who purchase the game new, as the code to access the content can be only used one time.

This problem arose in January when plaintiff James Collins purchased a used copy of Dragon Age: Origins from a GameStop store in Hayward, California. Collins paid $54.99 plus tax for the game, $5 less than a brand new copy.

Collins states he purchased the game in part because of the box cover, which advertised that additional character and quest content could be downloaded for free upon purchasing the game. Collins discovered weeks later, however, he would have to pay an additional $15 to access the content, ultimately paying $10 more to purchase a used game with less content.

When Collins tried to return the game for a refund, the GameStop manager at the store said he could not because the seven-day return window had passed.

"GameStop, who makes more than 20% of its revenue and nearly $2 billion from the sale of used video games, is aware of this issue, and continues to fail to alert customers that this content is not available on used games," the suit states. "As a result, GameStop tricks consumers into paying more for a used game than they would if they purchased the same game from content new."
Collins is seeking restitution, punitive damages for fraud, and interest from the sale of used games that were wrongfully obtained.

IGN has contacted GameStop for comment. The lawsuit in PDF form can be viewed here. ...

In a recent interview, it looked like Sony Benelux brand manager Folkert Langeveld had confirmed a Sackboy sequel when he said the words 'LittleBigPlanet Twee', translating into 'LittleBigPlanet 2'. Unfortunately, this isn't the case.

The interview was set around the PlayStation Move, making many automatically believe that this was the confirmation of a sequel, and its support of the motion controller. Instead, we got in touch with SCEE, who told us the following:

"As demonstrated recently at GDC, LittleBigPlanet has been shown as an example of how an existing game could benefit from PlayStation Move Motion Controller support. This is not a confirmation of LittleBigPlanet 2, and we do not have any announcements to make about the LittleBigPlanet franchise."
So for the moment, there isn't a LittleBigPlanet 2. We wouldn't though, rule the game out for an E3 announcement in June, or at the Tokyo Games Show in September. ...

The new 250GB Xbox 360 hard drive will cost £64.99 here and not £79.99 as once thought.

That's according to Xbox Community Manager Graeme Boyd, who also revealed that a data transfer kit will be bundled with the new drive, allowing content to migrate from old to new.

"You probably saw the announce of the 250GB Xbox HDD, but just to confirm: It is coming to UK/Europe, RRP is £64.99/99.99 Euro," Tweeted Boyd, aka AceyBongos.

"Lower the pitchforks and douse the torches - the 250GB does come with a data transfer kit. Sorry for the confusion," he chirped.
The 250GB Xbox 360 hard drive will sell from 16th April in the UK.

Before then, Microsoft will lower the price of existing 120GB HDD drive to £80. Yes, that's more expensive than 250GB drive that arrives in under a month. We're checking 'why'.

    Update

Actually MS is saying £64.99 was a mistake, It really is £80 ...

Slitherine has announced the forthcoming release of HISTORY™ Egypt Engineering an Empire. The title is the first in a series of turn-based strategy games based upon the HISTORY™ television series Engineering an Empire. Each episode of the program looks at the history and culture of a great civilization through the prism of its engineering accomplishments.

HISTORY™ Egypt Engineering an Empire allows players to build their own empire from its foundation to the height of its power. Acting as the leader of a Egypt or one of its neighbors, players manage all aspects of its rise, from economic growth to political power, the development of armies, and expansion into other regions by methods such as war and diplomacy.

Empires are controlled using three main views:

    • Campaign Map: shows the entire game world, including mountains, forests, coastlines, oceans, rivers, cites, and armies.

    • City Map: gives players an overview of the structure and role of a town within the empire, and provides a basis for economic decisions.

    • Battle Map: to be used when diplomacy has run its course or when a city is being attacked, resulting in turn-based combat.

All nations, cities, armies, and events were carefully researched to ensure historical accuracy. The game is highly accessible and a great first game for newcomers to the strategy genre. ...

After several months of silent running, digital toy boutique Denki has revealed the first footage of Quarrel, its highly anticipated new game.

You can find it on YouTube by subscribing to and following ‘denkigames’, or by visiting: http://www.youtube.com/denkigames

Quarrel is designed for Xbox Live Arcade, and the company is hinting obliquely at other more ‘breathtaking’ plans.

Denki took Quarrel busking last year and encouraged hundreds of people – from families, tourists and gamers, through to competitive strategy gamers and Scrabble players – to play the game to near universal acclaim. The feedback from these sessions was collated, considered and then Denki decided to make the game even more awesome.

Quarrel now includes the following embellishments:
    - “More ways to play” - There are now THREE entirely new games modes for you (providing hours and hours of honest-to-goodness fun).
    - “More platforms” - Surely. Though Denki are remaining tight-lipped on what these may be.
    - “More characters, troops, maps, music and words” - Yes, no, there’s loads already, si senor and we have the best dictionary in there already.
    - “More cowbell” - Ha ha. Xylophone, yes; cowbell, not so much.
    - “Less timer” - Sorted.

Yes, Denki has revisited, revised and revamped the game. It now features a completely new single-player experience. The master funmakers have tinkered with and tweaked every aspect of the game to make it fast, fluid, fun and generally just spent the last few months turning the game into an even shinier example of lovely. ...
