    News via http://www.planetvb.com/modules/news...hp?storyid=294

It's anniversary time! From today, Planet Virtual Boy can proudly look back at a lifespan of 10 years. Although I don't want to make any big, sentimental speeches now, I'd like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank those, who make working on this site so much fun. To our fantastic community: Thank You!

Now that this is done, we can have a look at the presents (YAY!).

Parallely and independently of each other, two programs to convert ISX files generated by the official Virtual Boy C compiler "VUCC" to the VB ROM format have emerged. There is RunnerPack's ISX to VB ROM Converter v1.0 as well as LameBoy's VeeBee ISX2ROM v1.00. With those, it's now not only possible to compile official source code, but also to use the official compiler for homebrew. Quote LameBoy:

    Quote:
I have decided to release VeeBee ISX2ROM, even though it may still have a few bugs.
ISX2ROM will convert Intelligent Systems ISX files (the files created by the official Nintendo Virtual Boy SDK for use with the VUE-Debugger) into ROM files usable by emulators or flashcarts.
This means that people can now use the official VUCC compiler to create Virtual Boy ROMs. Hopefully people will be more willing to create VB ROMs now they can use VUCC as well as GCCVB.

Oh, and HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY PLANET VIRTUAL BOY!

Thanks to those great tools, we can now also release all 4 different versions of the VUE demo program from the official dev disks released last November. Those were converted by LameBoy using his ISX2ROM.

Complete with all new ‘Action Cam’ that will take gamers right onto the pitch and into the heat of battle, Codemasters® today announced International Cricket 2010™, coming this summer for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®.

International Cricket 2010 is set to continue Codemasters 15 year association with world class cricket and follows last summer’s Number One best seller Ashes Cricket 2009. Produced by Codemasters and developed by Trickstar Games, the Australian developer with a team pedigree that includes Ashes Cricket 2009 and the Brian Lara series, IC 2010 steps up to the crease with a range of innovations and enhancements to set the new standard in authentic cricket gaming.

The new Action Cam will immerse players in all the on-pitch drama, intensity and excitement of fiercely competitive international cricket. Supplementing traditional broadcast views, players can now feel the satisfaction of smashing home 90mph+ deliveries and experience the thrill of thundering down the track to bowl from Action Cam’s new on-field perspectives.

A key addition to the range of fielding, bowling and batting improvements is the new ‘Power Stick’. Giving batsmen 360° analogue power and direction control, Power Stick enables the widest selection of shots, from pushing quick singles to gaps in the field to risky shots and everything in between.

Officially licensed by the England and Wales Cricket Board and Cricket Australia to feature official players, stadia and kits, International Cricket 2010 can be enjoyed in a wide range of game modes including new instant tournaments. A comprehensive player editor enables gamers to put themselves into the game and the squad editor allows players to edit the player name, appearance, team and attributes of all athletes. Gamers can compete as any of the expanded roster of 16 nations at an improved selection of 21 stadia around the world, including Lord’s, the Home of Cricket.

“With a focus on taking gamers into the action like never before, International Cricket 2010 will deliver the most authentic cricket gaming yet,” said John Szoke, Producer, Codemasters. “Codemasters enjoys an unrivaled heritage in producing cricket games, and International Cricket 2010 will build on this success with a range of innovative gameplay features and enhancements.”

“We’re delighted to partner with Codemasters to develop the next leap forward in cricket gaming,” said Tony Parkes, Studio Director, Trickstar games. “Our passionate team of industry veterans, which includes development talent who have worked on the Brian Lara series and Ashes 2009, is determined to deliver the most immersive and intuitive cricket experience for all fans of the sport.”

The acclaimed videogame studio Mobile Pie (developers of Oh, My Word! and B-Boy Beats ) today announced they will be publishing David Mile’s Deception Wars for Xbox LIVE Indie Games.

The title, created in Microsoft’s XNA, won the Judge’s Award at this year’s Bristol Global Game Jam, beating a handful of other titles to the accolade.

Mobile Pie’s Creative Producer Will Luton said:

“As soon as David pitched the title I knew we had a winner and what he created within 48 hours was simply breathtaking. He’s clearly a future star of the indie scene!”

The game, a mixture of Geometry Wars and the backstabbing party game Mafia (aka Werewolf), features up to 8 players blasting and deceiving each other.

    Luton added:

“Most of the game happens off screen. Someone will blast you and you’ll throw the pad down and scream at the *@&% knowing you’ve just been double-crossed. If it doesn’t get you cursing and laughing you’re probably clinically dead!”

Mobile Pie have been working very closely with Miles on giving the title a very retro vibe, both in terms of the classic EGA visuals and dual-stick shooter mechanic.

    Miles said:

“I’m really keen to see what people make of the new game play ideas Deception Wars brings to the Xbox 360, and working with Mobile Pie is really helping to bring it to the next level.”

Deception Wars will be available via Xbox LIVE Indie Games in Summer 2010. ...
