All of the juicy details needed to control a camera from your Nintendo DS are now available at the Open Camera Control project. This is the descendant of [Steve Chapman's] setup from a few years ago. The system has been polished up and has seen many feature additions. It’s been used in movie production and works with a wide range of cameras.

Start by building your own interface cable using an AVR microcontroller running the Arduino bootloader. Finish up by loading some open source software onto the DS to add a cornucopia of shot options.

The third entry in the Pokemon Ranger series on Nintendo DS has cruised to an easy victory in the weekly Japanese sales charts, with sales of 161,000 units. Its predecessor sold 193,337 units in its debut.

The second highest new entry of the week, at number two, is Namco Bandai's .hack//Link with 60,000 unit sales. The new title is intended to be the last entry in the cross media franchise but is the first to be released on the PSP.

New at number three is the budget-priced re-release of Square Enix's Dragon Quest IX on DS, which despite record-breaking sales on its original release still managed to sell another 41,000 units. Square Enix also re-released its other Dragon Quest DS titles this week on the same Ultimate Hits budget label, with Dragon Quest V re-entering at number 20 and Dragon Quest IV at number 30.

The final new entry in the top ten is Tecmo Koei's Nobunaga's Ambition: Tendou for PlayStation 3 at number seven. The latest title in the long-running strategy franchise, the game sold 33,000 units in its first week.

The rest of the top ten is made up of the usual evergreen titles, with New Super Mario Bros. Wii still unmoved at number four, Friend Collection down only two places to number eight and Wii Fit Plus unchanged at number nine.

Notable release outside the top ten include From Software's Armored Core: Last Raven Portable on PSP at number 12 and the Xbox 360 version of Bioshock 2 at number 25.

01 Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light (DS)
    02 .hack//Link (PSP)
03 Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (DS)
04 New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
05 Kenka Bancho 4: Ichinen Sensou (PSP)

EA has announced that EA Sports Active 2.0 will be released this autumn on the Wii, PlayStation 3, iPhone and iPod touch - but not the Xbox 360 or Project Natal.

The original title was released on the Wii last spring and used the standard Wii controllers, bundled accessories and, optionally, the Balance Board. The title proved a substantial hit for EA, after a heavy marketing push and even two dedicated retail stores in the US.

The third game in the series, after expansion EA Sports Active: More Workouts, will feature new leg and arm straps with motion sensors, a heart rate monitor and a new online hub to "track and share workout data".

The lack of an Xbox 360 version comes after yesterday's announcement that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 would support the Wii MotionPlus and PlayStation Move, but not Microsoft's Project Natal.

EA's only explanation for the decision has been that the "timing" of the release (Tiger Woods is due in June) made support impossible and that Natal functionally would not be implemented until next year's sequel.

EA Sports Active 2.0 is due for release this autumn, but with few other Move or Natal titles announced so far it is unclear whether this pattern of support will continue at other publishers.

Warner Bros. has announced that The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest will launch on the PlayStation 3 with full PlayStation Move support.

The family-friendly game, loosely based on the film trilogy, will ship this fall for the PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii and DS.

"Utilizing PlayStation's upcoming motion controller for precision through mastery, The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest videogame engages players with intuitive motion-control gameplay where every controller gesture instantly and accurately translates to weapon strikes in the game," reads Warner's press release.

While the Wii version is being developed by Headstrong Games, all other versions are being worked on by TT Fusion.

Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux has given a brief description of working with Natal for Fable III.

Speaking at GDC, Molyneux said: "Natal is wonderfully adaptive to this experience. I can't give you specifics, but it's been a real joy to put some Natal stuff in there."

The developer also announced that John Cleese will be providing the voice of the butler throughout the game.

Fable III will see you take control of a Dickensian kingdom and is set for release sometime before Christmas. Will you play the game as a good king or a 19th century Darth Vader?

OXM has translated the foreign sayings in Modern Warfare 2, including some of the English military jargon - so we can finally find out what "tangosucker" actually means.

With Modern Warfare 2 spanning Brazil, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Moscow (not to mention the Russians invading the US), there's a lot of international jargon flying round.

OXM has translated the bulk of what you hear during the game, most of which understandably translates to "target destroyed", "throwing stun grenade" and the like.

But interestingly enough, there's also a small voice-acting error in Arabic that has been picked up on.
