    TinyLoad 0.2 released by marcan

TinyLoad is a simple original Wii game launcher. You run it, it launches whatever's inserted into the drive. Simple. It ignores game regions, so it's region-free. It won't install updates. It won't load burned copies. There are no controls or settings.

The user interface shows two things: progress, and error status. A white bar across the bottom of the screen shows the current (rough) progress. If an error is detected, a portion of the top of the screen will turn red. It will then attempt to launch The Homebrew Channel (only applies to recent versions with the JODI Title ID). If this fails then it will simply hang.

If the launcher freezes with the progress bar visible and no red error box, then you've probably hit a bug. Try the debug version if you have a USB Gecko.

If it freezes with a black screen after the progress bar has reached its endpoint and disappeared, then the game itself is freezing.

I obviously have only tested this with a few games. Chances are it doesn't work with every Wii game out there.

The debug version requires a USB Gecko and shows debug messages over it.

    Why?
    Because:

System Menu 4.2 forever broke region free via modchips
I have a USA Wii which I regularly use with EUR games
Gecko OS is somewhat annoying and recent versions are unstable (for me anyway)
I refuse to perform retarded firmware mods.
I autoboot HBC via BootMii-boot2 and using the System Menu takes longer anyway.
I also think that low-level apps that tightly hug the hardware are very educational, so why not. And hey, the code is pretty short, so you ought to be able to read it completely and learn how all this crazy Wii stuff actually works :-)

n Japan (like in many places in the world!), there is a strong culture of selling back used games and hardware.

Japan especially is quite good about keeping instruction manuals and boxes in pristine shape as many who purchase gaming goodies do so with intent to sell back in the future.

For retailer TSUTAYA, the Xbox 360 does not appear to be part of that future.

A "wanted" list for the Japanese retailer lists the Wii, PS3, DS, PSP, PS2 and the Xbox 360. Then there is the dreaded asterisk that notes, "We are not buying Xbox 360 consoles". It should be noted that TSUTAYA is not buying back Xbox 360 consoles from customers hoping to sell their used machines and that there is no reason to believe that TSUTAYA will stop carrying the hardware.

The long (long!) awaited Pandora gaming handheld is inching closer and closer to reality, with all but a few i's and t's left to dot and cross (respectively). It's so close to ready, in fact, that personnel from the device's production team invited a mere mortal (also known as a forum member) to their homes in order to test out and tinker with a pre-production model. Naturally, his hands-on experience was nothing short of glowing -- but really, we wouldn't expect anything less from a devout forum member who clearly digs even the idea of having a Pandora to hold and snuggle with. There's no denying the awesomeness that awaits you in the video past the break, though, and if the unit really does handle everything as smoothly as it does Super Mario 64, we're all in for a treat.

Publisher preparing to revitalise long-running survival horror series with innovative upcoming Wii release
Konami has described its upcoming title Silent Hill: Shattered Memories as a landmark entry in the survival horror series.
The game is due for release on Wii, PS2 and PSP on February 5th, making it the publisher’s first major release of 2010.
Early reviews for Shattered Memories have been very positive, supporting Konami’s claims that this will continue the success of the long-running horror series.
Product manager Martine Saunders told MCV: “The Silent Hill series is one of Konami’s many jewels in its crown, and Shattered Memories is by far the most important advance in the series to date.
“Silent Hill is a strong series with excellent recognition. The review scores from the US version are universally high, and the groundswell of opinion from UK press has also been unanimously positive.”

Konami is putting its full marketing weight behind Shattered Memories, hoping that the expected positive reviews will raise awareness of the game’s arrival in the same way the US press did.
The publisher is preparing a strong in-store presence for the game and is in discussions with its movie partners about potential horror tie-ins.
Shattered Memories is based largely on the original Silent Hill but Saunders is keen to stress that the game is much more than a simple port, thanks to some interesting new features added by UK developer Climax.
“The key to the game is that it changes constantly,” she explained. “While the game shares certain plot similarities with the original PSone title, Shattered Memories is an incredible new take on it.
“The game is constantly monitoring the way the user plays the game and responds to situations, and duly adapts to their decisions.
“This ‘psyche profiling’ means that characters and situations will differ depending on how the user reacts.
“Two different people playing the game will not experience the same reactions as each other, while other smaller differences will play out as the title continues.”
