Check it poseurs, Logitech's Wireless Guitar Controller Premier Edition for Guitar Hero is back and ready to take on international pretenders shredders. The new Black Edition prop for the PS3 and PS2 still features the same rosewood fingerboard, wooden neck, and metal frets and tuning peg handles of the US-only original. However, it now carries a lower, $199 price tag (was $250 at launch) and "minor construction updates" based on user feedback. Oh, and it's now black... black like the heart of Chuck Schuldiner. If that sounds like a "a great value" as described by Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech's director of product marketing for gaming, then by all means, have at it when it ships to the US and Europe in June.

We released our original Xbox 360 RROD repair kit during Christmas 2008 - and after over 100,000 sales it has proved to be a superb success.

Of course there were still many consoles that it could not fix, and 360 modders were using an X-Clamp kit along with the Xecuter RROD kit to do a more robust repair. Naturally we wanted to make sure that our customers had the very best solution possible so we took the time to investigate the many many X-Clamp kits available and found that no two were the same, with many giving varying opinions and methods.

So we spent a week or so testing the ass out of many many different fix designs and after finding what we think is the absolute perfect solution we can now launch the Xecuter RROD PRO Repair Kit for the Xbox 360.

Not only have we included our specially formulated K-Pads for the memory chips, we have custom designed our own X-Clamp and have manufactured the bolts so that the length is the absolute precise length and thickness to offer the very very best solution.

We also include perfect sized washers and the best quality silicon paste to enable you to repair both the GPU & CPU all in one kit. All other tools are of course included.

As a test, we purchased exactley 100 RROD consoles from a games store and applied the fix to all of these. After bench testing for 7 days we have 87 consoles working perfectly with just the RROD Pro Fix, 6 others needed a DVD drive replacement and 7 could not be repaired at all - so were returned to M$ for replacements

We are very pleased with the results and believe this kit will be the definative repair kit available anywhere for the XBOX 360.

Agenaworld: A "Homeworld" type of game. Agenaworld is an original multiplayer PSP to PSP game that allow you to command a spacecraft to other galaxies and visit all nine planets (plus the sun). In addition, the game backgrounds are real 24bit/pixel large space images that scroll in the background (courtesy of Hubble telescope). Try to reach Earth! Click on link above to download. Press the "Triangle Button" to use the "spacegate hypercube" gravity assist. Requires latest custom firmware to run. See PSP game discussion forum on this site for installation instructions.

    STORYLINE

In the near future, you captain a spaceship with extra-ordinary technology. Powered by nuclear fusion and fission generators and supported by ion micro-thrusters and gyroscopes, your ship can support long-term journeys. After a long travel in hybernation across the deep space, you come across the Juniper Belt and discover a mysterious asteroid surrounded by many "hypercubes". They are alien in origination, but one thing is known, when your ship touches one of the cubes, a gravitational assist field is generated around your ship. Firing an EMP afterwards, activates the field and your ship is slingshot at great velocity towards a destination pre-allocated by the respective cube touched. It is year 2492, the year that all eight planets plus dwarf planet Pluto are lined up end to end. With the help of the cubes, you are able to travel to distant galaxies, nebulas, and even all nine planets in the solar system, overcoming the laws of relativity.

    News via http://streetskaterfu.blogspot.com/2...-skfu-iqd.html

Howard Stringer (SONY CEO) recently gave an interview and here is what we think about his - Sir Howard Stringer (yes, he's a knight lol, no joke!)
    passionate view:

“We developed brand new, absolutely incredible technology for the PlayStation 3 (PS3), but the cost was high. We've adopted a slightly different approach now, and are evolving the PS3 into a platform for web services,[...]”

Wasn't the PlayStation3 system announced similar? "absolutely incredible technology"!? Yes it was. What did we got first?

A major buggy PlayStation Network which had (summed up) many vulnerabilities (fixed):

    - Logins/Passes exposed via "Man in the Middle" - attacks
    - Install games for free via redirecting game links
    - Free games caused of a credit card payment failure
    - Very slow PSN loading sequences

If the base system caused so many problems and has huge design flaws, we can imagine what the announced one introduces, but may we are wrong.

“A lot of people thought Sony's content download service was doomed, but it's in a pretty good place right now in the form of the PlayStation Network, available to PS3 users for network gaming, video, etc. The DRM is based on Marlin, an open scheme developed by consumer electronics companies and other companies."

Why is SONY always counting on DRM?
People want FREEDOM (as you stated yourself in the interview). DRM does NOT stand with FREEDOM, even though SONY is using an OpenSource DRM.

“What does all this mean? Very simply, it means that Sony has begun the transition from a closed system to an open one."

Open in what ways? Open for everyone or licensed developers ?
Open for free of charge or fees ?

“Next we will be expanding the PlayStation Network to hardware other than the PS3, because the number of PS3 units sold puts a limit on the scale of the network possible. Sony has a vertical structure for each product line, an organisational structure that resists change, so it will take time to achieve this network growth. However, a large number of employees share my opinion on this.”

A bit late mate ;-) Dashhackers "Open Remote Play" tool brings the PSN to any platform. Even a XBOX360 could access the PSN now.

So if your employees (at least a large number) are sharing your opinion, why are you always locking out yourself? Which means PSN Textchat, Voicechat and Videochat is PS3 only ! What were the problems to open those things to PC users right from the start, so they can communicate with each other like ICQ, TeamSpeak, Skype (which is already implemented in the PSP!).

Months after the launch of the PS3 the Store was made accessible from a PC. Why not the real usable features like the chat? Cross-platforming is a very nice feature like Microsoft shows with their XBOX360 + MSN for example.

Why is onlinegaming always restricted to the architecture? XBOX360 and PS3 users are locked out to play with each other, altough the technology and infrastructure was always there. The most games on PS3 and XBOX360 use one network architecture of the base system it was developed on anyway. Even PC and PS3 gamers cannot play against each other, altough using mouse and keyboard on the PS3 in shooter games was always possible from the start.

So you want to interconnect different architectures, on the other side SONY blocked this right from the start.

“The Wii from Nintendo Co Ltd of Japan is an excellent example. They didn't develop any unique technology; they just realised that there was potential demand out there for something different from conventional games, and thought about how to satisfy different demands from different age groups. They attained results that the PS3 hasn't; namely, generating profit from hardware sales.”

We think this lies in the broad range of Wii games. in contrast to 90% of shooters on the PS3 and WiiWare. There are great indy developers out there, who would be very happy to release something on the PSN. But there's no equivalent to WiiWare or XNA. Even though, SONY gives away their cool PhyreEngine to licensed developers, it isn't available for free for everyone. GNU/Linux on the PS3 is also not an option !

"Apple's iTunes Store uses its own proprietary DRM called FairPlay. I think this gives Sony a chance to provide something that Apple can't. And we have to move ahead and grab that opportunity before Apple begins to provide support for other hardware and blocks us out."

Also a point is SONY's DRM. Apple used FairPlay in iTunes for a long time but has quit this and making profit as always ! So Apple IS NOT using FairPlay any more and the chance for SONY has gone. Same goes with the AppStore. Everyone can code everything for just $99.

    ----------
All in all the PlayStation3 HAS the potential to be a fantastic gaming console and more! But Sony HAS to use it as fast as possible and grant users and developers more freedom. ...

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is just a couple of weeks away from its Japanese release. Wondering what Square Enix will follow up with for DS owners?

We got somewhat of a hint today as Square Enix at long last broke its silence about SaGa 2, the Japanese version of the DS remake of a Game Boy game that was originally released in America as Final Fantasy Legend II. While announced last year, Square Enix today gave the game an official name, a proper official site, and a release time period.

Previously, the Japanese version was known by the placeholder name SaGa 2: Hiho Densetsu (roughly, "Legend of the Treasure"). The final name is now SaGa 2: Hiho Densetsu Goddess of Destiny.

Of course, this name is just for the Japanese version. There's no word yet on what Square Enix will do with the naming for the international versions. We imagine they might end up keeping the SaGa name this time, since it's the 21st century and all.

The official site is now home to, among other things, actual color artwork, and a trailer movie. You can access the movie under the (you guessed it!) "trailer" icon.

SaGa 2 is now due for Japanese release some time this Fall. Hopefully the wait for an English version won't be too long. To hold you over a bit after you've checked out the trailer, be sure and browse the new screens we've posted.
