Amazon looks to 5,000 UK corner shops to acts as Collect+ delivery points.
The etailer teamed up with courier company Collect+ to trial the scheme in London with small scale items, and after a positive reaction decided to roll it out nationwide. Collect+ works with a number of retailers including eBay and ASDA.
There’s nothing more annoying than missing a delivery, only to find it’s gone back to the depo and needs to be redelivered. Or to find your precious parcel has been left with a neighbour who happens to of gone out just when you’re knocking at the door trying to get it back. And let’s not even get into the neighbours who claim they never received your parcel…
With Amazon’s Collect+ parcels can be delivered to a corner shop or newsagent to ensure that the parcel is locally available for collection.
With most shops staying open past normal office hours, Amazon customers will have more chance of getting their packages home on the same day that they were attempted to be delivered.
The Collect+ scheme will also allow customers to send back unwanted items to Amazon.

'Interactive retailer network' will connect all of the car firm's digital platforms.
Volkswagen has partnered with developer Tribal in the past, working together on an iPhone app that enables users to tailor a car to their liking.
The car giant has now taken its mobile initiative one step further by launching a 'interactive retailer network' with Tribal, which will connect all related products and digital tech into a showroom app.
UK customers will be able to access the new platform on more than 2,000 iPads, which will make their way to showrooms across the country in coming weeks.
Users will also be able to find out the car best suited to their needs, filtering through price, fuel type, performance, tech, space, and more.
Tom Roberts, MD, Tribal, said: "This app integrates technology and retail together on an unprecedented scale. This trailblazing initiative is a logical extension to the digital thread which we created for Volkswagen following our design and build of their website and iPhone app."

Malicious programs targeting Google's OS triples in Q2 2012.
The number of new malicious programs targeting Android platform has almost trebled between the first and second quarters of the year.

Out of this number, 49 per cent were 'multi-functional' Trojans, that will collect personal data and download content onto a device without the owner realising.
The other half of the was split between SMS Trojans and those that use backdoors to gain full control of devices.
Yuri Namestnikov, senior Mmalware analyst at Kaspersky Lab, said: "In the near future, we expect not only more malware, but more effective and dangerous malware targeting Android.

Certified devices will only feature 'original content'.
Earlier this week, Sony announced its PlayStation Mobile gaming platform will launch across certified Android devices (HTC, Asus, Wikipad) and the PlayStation Vita.
But while the firm previously said 100 retro PS one games will be available on PlayStation Mobile, the PSV will now be the only device to have that honour – starting August 28th – according to Xperia Blog.
The decision has been made so that the Android devices will only feature 'dedicated and original content'.
It's plausible that Sony also made the decision to make its handheld device a differentiator from the rest of the pack, hoping to pull in some of the die-hard gamers that want to relieve the classic games.

Free app will activate during Monday Night Raw and PPVs to push polls and additional content.
Over the last year, WWE has been pushing connectivity and social media on it's programming harder than almost any other TV show.
It pushes unique hash tags on every televised live show, conducts Twitter polls, ensures everyone on the roster is active on Twitter, has an enormous Facebook following, utilises a YouTube channel and even pushes people towards Shazam whenever a wrestler's entrance music plays.
Furthermore, the company recently invested heavily in video message startup Tout, which it promotes regularly on its website and all TV programming, playing 15 second Touts by fans and talent alike.
Now, WWE has launched an official flagship app for iOS and Android, in the hope that viewers will interact virtually during programming. While WWE has dipped its tow in the app world in the past (mini games, event-specific apps), it has never had a flagship service, but now that's changed.
The official WWE app will provide exclusive video, news and other content, as well as pull in the social media streams for every WWE performer.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 was released in Japan a few weeks ago and has sold near on 800,000 copies, well today in the UK its our turn to check out the biggest 3DS release of the year.

Mario and Luigi are back, and this time, their task is to collect a million coins. Super Mario Brothers 2 is a continuation of the DS game released in 2006. Familiar characters and props, such as the Super Leaf are back. Transform the pipe cleaner into a raccoon and all sorts of creatures to make your coin collection as exciting as possible. Make the Golden Flower bloom, put on the ring to turn your enemies into coins, and put on the block mask to generate coins when the pipe cleaners run.

There are more mini-games. Collect as much coins as you can in just one life span in the coin rush mode. And when you are dealing extra challenging stages, ask your brother to come help you out as Luigi.

Each level is littered with gold as coins rain down from overhead pipes, trails of coins are left behind special gold enemies and gold pipes transport Mario into coin-filled caverns. It’s up to players to collect as many coins as possible throughout their adventure.
    FEATURES:

    • The game records all the coins players collect throughout the game, so completing a level is only part of the fun. Every level is filled with golden opportunities, such as gold rings that turn enemies into valuable gold versions and a Gold Flower that gives Mario the ability to turn almost anything in his path into coins.
    • Coin Rush Mode allows players to collect as many coins as possible across three levels and challenge friends to beat their record via StreetPass.
    • New Super Mario Bros. 2 is an all-new side-scrolling adventure game featuring Mario and Luigi. Two players who each own the game will have the option to play the entire game in two-player multiplayer mode using local wireless.
    • The return of Raccoon Mario gives Mario the ability to fly and access hidden areas.
    • Players will have the option to either purchase the game at retail stores or download the entire game through the Nintendo eShop.

    2. Playstation Vita News

Sony engineers are working to reduce the cost of manufacturing the PS Vita so it can cut the price of the handheld - but that price cut won't happen this year.Sony's fledgling portable has endured torrid sales since its launch last year in Japan and early this year in Europe, sparking calls for the Japanese company to slash its price. But Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer at Gamescom this week that the price of Vita will not drop this year. Instead, it hopes prospective buyers will find new bundles, such as the LittleBigPlanet Vita bundle announced during Sony's Gamescom press conference earlier this week, good enough value to convince them to take the plunge."People like cheap or free," he said. "Of course, cost reduction is one area our engineering team is working on. But we just launched the platform earlier this year. It takes time to do so."At a certain point in the future we would like to address the pricing issue for some of the people who are waiting. But this year we are trying to add value by creating different types of bundles. We announced we will provide LittleBigPlanet PS Vita bundle pack. That's affordable for people who are looking for a good deal."So, no price cut this year? "No," Yoshida replied. "It's too early."Another criticism Vita has endured is that there are not enough games available for it. Yoshida said Sony had noticed this perception, and the addition of new games and content was now its number one priority."The reaction to the hardware platform itself has been very strong," he said. "We are very pleased with the response we got. It's up to our expectations in terms of what we were hoping for in bringing PS Vita to the market."But the actual sales of PS Vita, obviously we would like to see more uptake. We see lots of feedback from consumers saying they would like to see more content, they would like to see their favourite franchises coming to the PS Vita."From our perspective, we were very pleased to launch with many titles. Many people said we had the strongest launch line-up for a PlayStation platform. But it's amazing how much more people want and how much content they consume."We designed PS Vita as a medium you can spend hours immersed into playing games. That means any amount of content can be potentially consumed pretty quickly. Also, we feel the expectations of people have changed since the launch of smartphone gaming. There is so much available in terms of variety and numbers."So we have to continue to work on bringing more content from big titles people are looking for in terms of franchises, to very small, snack-sized, intuitive casual games on the digital distribution side."During its conference Sony revealed a raft of Vita games that are spin-offs of big franchises, including Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and Killzone: Mercenary, and Yoshida hopes these games will boost sales of the handheld. But another way new content will be added to Vita is through PS Mobile, Sony's new way of getting smaller games built for the Android platform on a raft of PlayStation certified devices, including smartphones, tablets and, of course, Vita."PS Mobile is one of the initiatives we are working hard to provide an ecosystem like the App Store, so small developers and even individuals can create content and publish on PS Vita as well as PS certified Android devices," Yoshida said."And anything in between, like offering the PSone emulation compatibility. We were very happy to be able to announce later this month we will bring lots of PSone titles to PS Vita. That includes lots of great RPGs that people were asking for on PS Vita. I for one am looking forward to playing Legend on Dragoon again on PS Vita."So, that's our biggest focus now. The best way to realise the potential of the PS Vita platform is to provide the content. That's absolutely number one."
