Hey, didn't we just do this? Well, since we all opened up our presents yesterday (or shunned consumer Christmas, your choice) we should all have new stuff to play this weekend.

Not me. No games under the Christmas tree this year, so no Chrono Trigger DS, Final Fantasy III or My Japanese Coach for this Kotaku editor. Maybe I'll brave the crazy returns at the mall today, picking up something to while away my time on the flight back to Los Angeles. Or, I'll just be game free until I get back to my precious consoles.

What about you? Whatcha playin' this weekend?

Was there any doubt that Square Enix's latest Final Fantasy spin-off cash-in would do gangbuster business in Japan? If so, Dissidia Final Fantasy's debut on the Media Create sales charts should erase those doubts.

The fan service filled fighter for the PlayStation Portable moved almost a half-million units in its first week on the charts, soundly beating Gundam Musou 2 for the PlayStation 3 by a ratio of more than two to one. And at 6,090 yen, Dissidia's not on the cheaper end of PSP games. Yes, Square Enix made itself some money.

Some good news for Sony was that Gundam Musou 2 landed at number two on the PS3, with the Xbox 360 version failing to make a top thirty appearance. Fable II did, however, but at the 23rd spot.

This is the WeeP5, a fully functional Wii controller gun that looks like an MP5. [TheOreos] found the original zapper attachments to be lacking in several areas. His solution was to build a controller, integrated into an existing gun design with all the buttons exactly where he wanted them. He picked up a toy MP5 and sacrificed a Wiimote for the cause. He did a fantastic job, it looks great and, according to him, works well too. He may want to consider putting an orange tip on it though, just to keep from spooking the police.

Windows will run soon on the iPhone using Citrix Receiver, a remote screen software that connects to a PC and gives you the illusion you are running Microsoft's operating systems, including copy and paste functionality.

Why is this useful? It will give you the ability to run full Windows apps in your iPhone over the network. According to Citrix, you will have full Windows capability, including cut and paste inside Windows.

Ha, you or someone you love just paid full retail for an iPhone 3G a few days ago, didn't you? We've always heard that the best deals come after Christmas, but people just never learn. All smack talk aside, those who didn't get a new cellie under the tree, but did acquire a Benjamin or so courtesy of cash-stuffed holiday cards, can certainly score a big deal today. AT&T is now offering the 8GB iPhone 3G in refurbished form for just $99 with a two-year agreement, while the 16GB refurb is $199 on contract in either black or white. Call us crazy, but we don't foresee these hanging around in stock for too awfully long.
