After a couple misstarts, we've finally got Zune 3.0 running on our computer and that shiny new blue Zune 8 we nabbed yesterday. We had problems with the straight installer, but updating from within Zune 2.5 worked quite well, and after a restart we were able to perform the same feat on the player. The software choked up on the first sync, but we canceled out and it twasn't a problem.

With 3.0 all ready to go, we wasted little time jumping onto Marketplace wirelessly, which felt especially delicious on a teensy little flash DAP. Naturally, we could've squandered all our Microsoft Points on song buys -- which are quite easy to accomplish, with a cart-based purchasing system -- but we're all about subscription music, and Zune Pass speaks our language. The browsing, selecting and downloading processing couldn't be much easier, and you can pick a song to play from right in the store while browsing other wares. There were a couple hiccups in playback when switching tasks, but they were always brief.

We wouldn't go so far as to say that the apprentice has become the teacher, but over three years after modder extraordinaire Benjamin Heckendorn crafted his very own portable Nintendo 64, along comes one of his dedicated followers with another take on things. The Darth 64 is easily one of the most convoluted console hacks we've ever seen, utilizing bits and pieces from an N64, PSOne, GameCube and a Lazer Doodle. Somehow or another, hailrazer was able to actually make those seemingly unrelated components work together to form a "handheld" N64 console -- one that's battery powered, no less. Tap the read link for lots more construction pics, and don't forget to bow down upon entering.

Now this is an interesting development. According to two separate tipsters (with two sets of photos) Apple has released a third version of the new multi-hued iPod nano to the world -- a 4GB model. As there's been no announcement from the company, and there was certainly no mention of it at the 'Let's Rock' event, this is quite a head-scratcher. According to sources (and a Dutch retailer's site), the models are available in all nine colors and are priced at €119 (or about $168) -- though there seems to be some debate as to whether these lower capacity versions are limited editions or simply an incredible gaffe on Apple's part. Regardless, they appear to be the real thing, and they appear to be on store shelves right now (in some countries, at least). If you're looking for the ultimate Apple collector's item, this may be just the thing. Check out the gallery below for lots of looks at the mystery nano.

    PSP Pandora Deluxe v1.4
Created by DJB on 16th September 2008

    Original News Story: Here
    Original Forum Thread: Here

    DOWNLOAD: Rapidshare - Megaupload

    Release Notes:
Here you have it, an all-in-one solution for your Pandora Needs.

This program is designed to prepare your PSP Memory Stick to be used with the Pandora Battery. Unfortunately this program can not change your Battery to Pandora, however it will copy programs to the Memory Stick in order for you to do this yourself.

In this version I corrected the registry files for the 1.50 Downgrader and DC 3-7, I heard that I might have possibly been using a custom theme on one of these registries when creating the files, so I've re-done them all. I've also modified the 01-12.bmp and 13-27.bmp files in the Test 4.01 M33 portion of DC7 to show a Black background. This is to prevent the user from confusing it with their normal XMB.

As far as the support tools go, I included FuSa SD and updated PSP Filer to 5.6. I decided to remove NAND Manager as it seems that nandTool will do everything you need.

I hope you enjoy this new release...

WARNING: THIS PROGRAM WILL FORMAT AND INSTALL THE IPL LOADER TO THE DRIVE LETTER YOU SELECT AS YOUR PSP DRIVE, SO MAKE SURE IT IS THE CORRECT DRIVE BEFORE PROCEEDING. I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR FORMATTED USB HARD DRIVES ETC...

ffgriever is at it again! This time bringing a proof of concept program allowing in game reset to your favorite homebrew with a button combo!

Here's a quote from his thread on this:

    The basic concept is simple:

    1. Detect pad button presses.
    2. Launch apropriate app on particular button combo.

Although it looks simple, it's not that easy to do, especially that I wanted to make it EE side only, which means no code on IOP side (there are good reasons for that). Launching the application from the middle of running another app is also not that easy, as a lot of caution is required (and I had some serious problems with sif, though I was able to get rid of it by modifying SifInitCmd function a little bit).

Take this one as the proof of concept rather than working app (more concept than proof I would say ).

The IGR_mc.elf file after becoming resident will launch file in:

    mcx:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
    mcx:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF

where "x" is memory card slot and "?" is regional code.

(to be true I tested it mostly with one app, so I recommend using uLE, tested on uLE 4.28)
