    Version 1.2 is now out
    Website/download: http://phleon.kloplop321.com
Phleon is a simple program for those that wish to test their themes without having to waste a bunch of time on their DS, taking out their memory card from the computer, booting up, starting moonshell, testing, shut down, put the memory card back into the computer, and so on. I've also worked really hard just making things work, as in opening a previously made theme(even themes from outside of Phleon), and saving themes. In other words, It creates a folder that is just "Drag & Drop" into the skin folder of your moonshell folder of your memory card.
    • fixed small rendering coding mistype in window title bars in window emulator
    • fixed image importing so that other files can be used, and many more are now supported, as long as it is at or below 256 by 192
    • made selection double click instead of single(on the skin info window)
    • fixed the first color dialog to keep the same color, and in full view mode automatically
    • made second HEX color dialog update color faster
    • made all windows except for the window position editor not stay maximized when its task bar is double clicked
    • progress bars apparently switched when loaded, now fixed
    • system icon now supporting the green
    • transparency key like the exit button did
    • made all exported BMP's into 24 bit to avoid incompatibility with the RAM type of bitmap(32 bit when alpha is used) and the type the DS can handle (24 bit)
    • title bar in the DS Preview was wrong, now fixed
    • Dynamic pictures for people to use on the news posts to show if the current post is current or not.
    • Save Buffer system so that you can overwrite the file you loaded from
    • removed choppy milliseconds that semi-purposely annoyed people
    • removed the Current time, as everybody should have it
    • retain current work path so you don't have to re-navigate to it all the time(while in project).
    • ani loading(no view yet)
    • the startup and shutdown mp3 loading(no sound yet)
    • the startup and shutdown mp3 loading from converting from another format(OGG, WAV or a big MP3)(no sound yet)
    • Play and Pause functionality for animations
    • Portuguese language added
    • made encoding process better and more safe-proof, also made terminal(CMD) output replica not flicker, this uses the LAME.EXE
    • LAME is included with it so that you can encode your own mp3's through it for startup and shutdown at a custom bitrate. For WAV's you must use pure
    • PCM codec as for some reason it hates it otherwise and not at 32Kb/s bitrate, don't ask why though.
    • Correct Image size scale down and up(size wont matter anymore)
    • Now there are tool-tips for all the import menu items and some in the file menu to describe what they do.
    • Translations for German now correct
    • About box with click able link to my email, and other various information
    • Making the scroll bar smooth and moves where mouse is like the progress bar
    • Added the bevel on the window emulator that you can drag around and stuff
    • fixed the file fbar image rendering(was switches as well)

Many people are making plans to be with the ones they love on February 14th, but Sony's spreading a little digital love in the form of two highly anticipated demos. The PSN and PSP stores will receive a demo for MLB 08: The Show, SCEA's critically acclaimed baseball series. Players will be able to experience three innings between the Red Sox and the Rockies at Fenway Park during the day within the demo.

The PSP store will also receive a demo for Patapon, the funky rhythm game that pits diminutive creatures against strange beasts. The Patapon demo will feature seven levels of exploration, collection and dancing, which should provide more than an hour's worth of gameplay. These two demos will be downloadable with the other content within the PSN update, which will be posted tomorrow. ...

In addition to our extensive preview of Spore, we've also managed to get our hands on six screenshots from the DS version.

We think that Spore is one of the most ambitious videogame projects ever conceived, charting the evolution of a species from one cell to a million space colonies.

Unfortunately from the looks of the screenshots, the DS version looks like it should have been a victim of natural selection, instead of surviving to grace the handheld console.

If you've seen the screenshots in our preview, it should be obvious that the DS version is built from the ground-up and quite separate from other versions. It focuses on evolution and the creation of creatures, all fashioned into a linear story.

We've been assured that it looks great when animated, but for now we'll hold out for a video to confirm it.

The word sweeping the net this morning is of a supposed confirmed UK release date for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, set for March 28 by a "Sony release schedule", according to reports.

Not having received the schedule ourselves, we contacted Sony UK, who told CVG: "We still haven't confirmed anything yet".

A march release has been on the cards since last month, as we reported, and Sony's official site doesn't shine ay more light on the matter.

Admittedly, these March 28 reports can't be far off the mark. Although Sony is still unwilling to pin down an exact date, it has told CVG: "We're currently aiming for a late March release, but an exact date and price have yet to be confirmed."

Plus, major online UK retailer, Play, has had GT5P penned it for that exact date for some time, so it's looking likely.

But "late March" is the current official word. We'll report with the official date the second Sony utters one. ...

The game will be based on the previously released PSP effort, but will boast both improved graphics and all-new controls tailored for the Wii remote.

"Eidos is proud to bring the console debut of the Death Jr. series to Wii, with a new simple control scheme, intuitive aiming system, and polished graphics that enhance the game's action platform experience," said Robert A. Lindsey, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Eidos. "Death Jr.'s vibrant stylized art and quirky intelligent characters, combined with the new split-screen cooperative mode, makes Death Jr.: Root of Evil appealing to a wide-reaching audience that has embraced Wii."

In Root of Evil, players become the Grim Reaper's son and his school sweetheart Pandora as they embark on a quest to save Jr.'s kidnapped father. The title comes to life with colorful, stylized visuals and all-new Wii controls. Using the Wii remote and nunchuk, gamers can perform dual-weapon attacks of both the melee and projectile variety, and dispose of some 45 different enemies. Using the Wii remote, gamers can accurately target baddies, but the device is also used intuitively to control the camera. The game will feature 19 levels and a two-player cooperative mode.

With Killer 7 and No More Heroes - both bonkers and exceptionally violent games - under his belt, Grasshopper CEO Suda 51 has earned a name for cooking up games for an adults-only crowd.

Speaking to Nintendo Official Magazine UK, he revealed his desire to give Mario the Suda-treatment in a "Mario game for adults".

When asked by NOM if he'd ever consider making a game suitable for a younger audience, he replied: "I want to make a Super Mario game for adults.

"Maybe Mario could wear an Italian suit and have a machine gun," he hypothesised, adding, "But Nintendo probably wouldn't like that idea."

Yeah, probably not. But if you want to play gory Mario games there are plenty of (rubbish) Flash games knocking around the internet. Go on, go stamp a Goomba's face in.

You can read the full interview with Suda 51, as well as a review of the Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 in issue 27 of Official Nintendo Magazine, on UK shelves from Friday, February 15. ...
