You're driving down a 6 line highway, minding your own business, when suddenly a barrage of cars start driving toward you. Soon you realize that you're going the... Wrong Way!

At the start, press a number from 1 to 9 for the speed of the other cars, then use the joystick to go left/right, as well as accelerate/brake. Alternately, you can use the left fire button to accelerate, and the right fire button to brake. Arrive at the destination in time, and you can play the next stage... which is exactly the same (WIP, remember).

This is a VERY EARLY work in progress version.

Microsoft launched Halo 3 in the UK on Tuesday evening with a film-style premiere event at the IMAX cinema outside Waterloo in London.

Rather than focus on a midnight launch at a retailer Microsoft decided instead to roll out the red carpet, inviting a handful of celebrities along to the event.

Pharrell Williams and Christian Slater both attended, greeting fans gathered outside the cinema in the rain, while UK TV presenter Iain Lee hosted the show inside.

After some delays in ushering in the audience, made up mostly of Halo fans, Williams was called onstage to take on other celebrities based in locations around Europe - Carmen Electra joined from Paris, while LL Cool J battled from Amsterdam.

A fans' shoot-out followed, with a two-versus-two death match game - each team representing one half of the cinema audience, slogging it out to win Halo 3 copies for the onlookers they represented.

Unfortunately the teams were incorrectly named, causing some confusion for the audience, while one player's controller also failed partway through, leaving his team at something of a disadvantage.

As compensation Microsoft promised Halo 3 copies for everybody, which appeased the crowd, particularly as the event finished several hours before the game went on sale to the public.

The event was followed by an invite-only after-show event in Soho. ...

Shortly after Apple released a brief statement yesterday regarding iPhone modifications and their impacts on warranties, the firm's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing has stepped up to clarify a few issues. In a recent interview, Phil Schiller was quoted as saying that the upcoming software update "has nothing to do with proactively disabling a phone that is unlocked or hacked." Furthermore, he added that it was "unfortunate that some programs have caused damage to the iPhone software," but he noted that "Apple could not be responsible for... those consequences." All in all, it doesn't sound like Apple is changing its stance, but it seems safe to say that Cupertino won't be listening to any crying should subsequent updates render your hacked iPhone useless. ...

If you were considering picking up one of Apple's capacious new iPod classics whilst casually snickering at those poor saps dealing with faulty screens on the iPod touch, you could be in for problems of your own. According to a number of reports around the web, users are experience a myriad issues with the new player, including high processor utilization, excruciatingly long connect / disconnect times, and random crashes that seemed to occur when the device attempted to "display preview images taken from album cover art." Some users are also reporting that iTunes will actually "freeze up and stop responding" after the classic is plugged in, and attempts to install firmware updates have apparently not remedied the issues. So, dear readers, how's your iPod classic faring? Are these quibbles legit, or is the intarweb working itself into an unsubstantiated frenzy? ...

via VL-Tone (10th post on that page)

A new version of the Super Mario 64 level editor, Toad's Tool 64, has been released. 0.5.9 beta fixes a couple of bugs. Here's what VL-Tone had to say:

Version 0.5.9b attempts to fix an issue with checksum verification that would happen on Japanese and other asian Windows systems. Opening an already correctly extended ROM should now work on Japanese systems.

Note that this DOESN'T fix the problem with the ROM Extender on Japanese systems. This problem will require a partial rewrite of the app.

The problem with the ROM Extender is from the Binary IO Xtra. This Xtra enables very fast reading and writing abilities to Director MX. It's fast because it loads the binary data in ASCII string variables, instead of converting them to lists variables (arrays). The problem is that on Japanese systems, Director seems to have a different internal representation of string variables, which corrupts the binary data read into those strings. To fix it I'll need to use another Xtra, and read/write large amount of data with some conversion to list variables, and that will make it much slower. I'll probably have to split the program in two version, so that the fast, but less compatible version is still available.

There is also a new version of the SM64 ROM Extender, which you need to use with your SM64 ROM before loading it into the editor.
