Here we go again, again. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has been running his own sophisticated computerative thinkonometrics regarding the effect of Nintendo's massive success on third parties, and he disagrees with Todd Mitchell's negative assessment.

Basically, Mitchell said that because Nintendo titles dominate Nintendo consoles, that a market with a Nintendo console in the lead would lead to smaller market percentages for third parties. Pachter called the prediction "naive," noting that part of third parties' relative failure on previous Nintendo platform was the fact that they didn't do much publishing. He cited EA and Ubisoft specifically, both of whom are showing more activity on the Wii and DS. If publishers release more games-- and non-games-- they'll sell more! ...

D3Publisher has announced their plans to bring three titles ("the first of many") to Microsoft's bit-flinging Xbox Live Arcade service: Mad Tracks, RocketBowl (XBLA's first bowling game, they coo), and the addictive matching game Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

Of course, Puzzle Quest is what we're really interested in here. We can imagine the XBLA version's HD graphics undoing the cramped constraints of the Nintendo DS release, while the delivery mechanism should bypass the PSP version's awkward loading pauses, and then there's Xbox Live integration for a proper multiplayer experience. Match up these three improvements to form the ultimate (albeit decidedly non-portable) version of Puzzle Quest! ...

Over the weekend a few European PS3 owners got lucky and got a little taste of Home (not the place, the beta version). Although there is no official confirmation from Sony that it was released, there are definitely people out there posting images proving that they have what boys like and what guys want.

That makes America the land of the Home-less (yuck, yuck, yuck), but if you're desperate to have it now, you and/or a friend from Canada can sign up to be beta testers before the release. ...

Ken Kutaragi, the 'Father of PlayStation', has revealed that he already has a vision for PS4, 5 and even 6 - despite having announced his imminent retirement.

Speaking to the EE Times Kutaragi said that previously he had been unable to talk about "the next step" as PlayStation 3 had not launched globally.

"We've introduced PS3 in Europe, so now I can openly talk about" future plans, he continued.

"As a matter of course, I have the vision of Playstation 4, 5 and 6, which will merge into the network."

According to the EE Times report, Kutaragi has already supplied Sony's designers with ideas for cutting the cost of manufacturing PS3 - and with design models for two years into the future.

He is now focused on exploiting the opportunities offered by connectivity, stating, "The design concept of the Cell processor is the network processor."

Kutaragi announced his retirement as CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment last week. He told EE Times he will continue to have a relationship with Sony but that he will work independently of the company for the most part, adding, "Now I'm ready to start working with a much wider world." ...

Here is an image, of another peripheral gun for the Wii called "Wii Blaster". Now, dont confuse it with the Wii Blaster from JoyTech. It seems that GameStop has a new "Wii Blaster". Scheduled for release on June 26 by a company called Core Gamer, the Blaster houses the Wiimote in a casing shaped like a shotgun.

Looking at the other products that Core Gamer makes it will just be a housing similar to that of their Sports accessory pack and controller grip.
