Shadow of the Colossus developer Team Ico is working on a new game for the PlayStation 3, the latest issue of Famitsu has revealed.

No further details are offered in the Japanese mag, though going by the studio's last two titles we absolutely can't wait to see what it's capable of conjuring up on next-gen hardware.

We expect to hear more details before the year's out.

Finally, new details for Sadness on Wii have emerged after months of worrying silence.

The mysterious survival thriller for Wii will have to take on the roll of Maria having just survived a serious train crash, the latest issue of Game Informer reveals.

Maria has to watch over her little brother, Alexander, who was unfortunately blinded during the crash, but things take an X-Files-style turn when Alexander starts acting "odd".

Without weapons, Maria and Alexander have to make use of environmental objects in their struggle to survive the chilling events that await.

Although still we're still light on actual gameplay info, at least these emerging details confirm that work on the elusive thriller is ongoing, in a top-secret underground base, we assume.

Capcom's epic PS2 adventure, Okami, could be making its way if recent internet rumours are to be believed.

An "industry insider" has told IGN that the Japan-based developer is "seriously considering" porting the late PS2 classic to Wii.

This report comes despite a Capcom representative telling the site that a port is unlikely considering Clover Studios, who developed the game, is closing next month.

CVG called Capcom UK in the hunt for more info but was given the same official line: "There are currently no plans to bring Okami to Wii."

But we remain stubbornly optimistic - many of the innovative gameplay mechanics in Okami would suit the Wii Remote perfectly.

Suffice to say we'll be keeping a keen ear out.

Bizarre Creations (PGR, The Club, GW) have posted an update on their site about their up coming Xbox Live Arcade game Boom Boom Rocket:

The game itself is a simple concept, but taken to extremes. The aim is easy: press the corresponding button for each firework as it hits a line at the top of the screen, and it'll explode. The more accurate you are with your button presses, the higher your score. The person with the highest score wins. Easy stuff... you're probably already familiar with the concept from games like DDR.

However (and this is a big however), Boom Boom Rocket introduces a few new ideas to the tried and tested formula which we think make the game really fun to play. The first thing is the idea of pure speed. We don't have to worry about complicated peripherals to make this game fun... its game pad only, and it's FAST. Within a couple of rounds you'll be setting off huge numbers of fireworks as if it were second nature... and much of the fun comes from the fact that your fingers will be moving at Mach 3 on the harder difficulties.

The next update for Epic's hugely successful Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War fans will be out "Definitely within a couple of months", Mark Rein has revealed.

Speaking to Team Xbox, he added the developer wants "to have as regular a stream of new stuff coming for the title" as possible.

Rein reaffirmed that "there'll be a fun little surprise in the next update", although wouldn't spill further beans. "I don't want to say specifically what we're going to have," he said.

And will the next Gears update be a free download? Epic would "love to have everything be free", Rein explained, although "There's a lot of pressure on us, having the leading game on the platform, to be part of the downloadable economy... there's external pressure on us to participate in that."

During the interview, the Epic boss also described a PC version of GoW as being "inevitable", but said technology is key hurdle to overcome.

"The big challenge is to make a game that was designed solely for the console... to take advantage of every last little corner of that console, to fill every little crack and run as many threads as we could and do as much to exploit the power of that machine, and make it run well on enough PCs to be worth releasing. That's a challenge.

"UT will help us there, because Unreal Tournament 3 will be kind of our vanguard PC product, and it's helping us get optimisation on the PC. So it's just a matter of, now, can we make Gears run on enough PCs that it's worth selling...or do we have to wait in five years until everyone has a PC that can run it?

"It's inevitable, but it's just not there today."

NJ has once again said farewell to the PSP scene, this time offering a major update to all of his emulators as a final parting gift.

We have new versions of each emulator for

    CPS2
    CPS1
    Neogeo MVS
    NeoGeo CD

The BIG ADDITION IS ADHOC VERSIONS OF EACH EMULATOR, WIRELESS EMULATION FOR MORE THAN 1 IS NOW HERE

    Last Words
Although it was my intention to stop updates as of 2007/01/28, I delayed it a bit due to various issues, but am now finished making updates as of today, 2007/02/14. I will not be making any more PSP software, but it is my hope that these will be of some use as reference.

    2007/02/14 NJ
    About The Software Presented Here

    Overview
-If you have used any of the previous versions please take note that a portion of the control scheme as changed. The menu is opened with the HOME button.
-Please read the readme_???.txt included with each software first.
-The control schemes are all pretty much the same. They are written in the readme_???.txt (files) so please run your eyes over them.
-For all menus other than the main menu, there is a simple controls help function available. It is displayed by pressing the R TRIGGER, so please run your eyes over these as well.
-I have also prepared Japanese language versions of the 3 arcade emulators, however the amount of allocatable memory decreases by about 800KB (with these).

About The resource_jp.zip (file) Included With The English Language Version (Excluding NCDZPSP)
-The files included in the English language version resource_jp.zip are files that are necessary if Japanese is to be used in the game list and the command list.
*If you are not going to use Japanese this (file) is unnecessary so please delete it.
*When displaying Japanese, copy the files included in resource_jp.zip exactly as they are to /PSP/GAME/CPS1PSP/.
-Even in the English language version, when using the Japanese command list, the Japanese font is loaded, and the amount of allocatable memory decreases by that amount.

    About Emulators That Use Cache
-All of the CPS2PSP games, as well as almost half of the MVSPSP games, will not run if you do not create cache files for them.
-Please create the cache files with the romcnv_cps2.exe and/or romcnv.mvs.exe included with the released binaries. Since I included a version check, you can not use older cache files.
-With CPS2PSP, it is possible to use zip compressed cache files, however, the speed drops considerably compared to uncompressed cache files. Other than a few of the smaller games, I recommend that you use uncompressed cache files.
-When using cache files, the speed of the game is influenced by the loading speed of the Memory Stick. When using AdHoc, the speed of your opponent's (Memory Stick) will have an effect, so it is better if you don't use pre-PRO Memory Sticks.

    About The AdHoc Version
-I put various efforts into stabilizing it, but since there are a lot of unknowns about the PSP AdHoc, even though it's gotten somewhat better, it's still unstable.
-It's possible to play normally even with the AdHoc version. The reason I separated it from the regular version is because the speed of the AdHoc version is somewhat slower. If you do not plan on using AdHoc, I recommend that you use the regular version.
-When using AdHoc, a portion of the options are fixed. Due to synchronization circumstances with NCDZPSP, the load screen emulation is always set.
-Since you can't synchronize with different binaries, you will not be able to connect between a Japanese version and an English version.

About The Command List File Size Reduction Function (I forgot to write this in the documentation)
-When you select command.dat in the file browser, the file size reduction function starts up. Since the Japanese language version of a MAME! Plus command list is close to 4MB, please execute this first. Game loading times will somewhat decrease.

*Please refer to each emulator's section to see what's changed.

    Changes for CPS2 Emulator
-Due to merging the NCDZPSP source, all of the source (code) has been rewritten.
-Added a Japanese interface version to all of the emulators. Compared with the English language version, the Japanese language version consumes about an extra 800KB of memory.
-Added compatibility with MAME Plus! style command lists. Please place command.dat in the same directory as the EBOOT.PBP. Also, when using a Japanese language command list, an approximate 800KB of extra memory is consumed.
-Although the amount of items that can be set in the makefile have increased, it is better not to use UI_BPP32 outside

It looks like Treasure's rather marvellous Dreamcast and GameCube shooter Ikaruga might be on its way to Xbox Live Arcade.

That's because the game is currently showing up on Partnernet, the Xbox 360's closed debug network, access to which is limited to journalists and developers.

There are two downloads listed in the Xbox Live Arcade section of Partnernet, which mirrors Xbox Live's functionality in a different setting. The titles are nondescript, but if you download the two 5.7MB files Ikaruga appears under a Japanese name in the console's Live Arcade menu.

We couldn't get it to run, but it does reach a Treasure title screen, and lists 12 achievements including one marked "Secret" and one for each of Chapters 1-4 and the Final Chapter.

Treasure has previously said it was "really interested" in working on Xbox Live Arcade, but when company president Masato Maegawa spoke about that desire recently he wasn't specific about any projects in development.

Treasure is known to be working on an original shooter for Xbox 360, but last we heard it won't be out for a while.
