In a world seemingly dominated by popular young upstarts (we're looking at you, Halo and Gears of War), it's good to see that granddaddy of FPS genre, Castle Wolfenstein, is still keen to stake a claim in the genre it arguably created.

Id's Kevin Cloud said in an interview that the company and Raven (who has already collaborated on Quake 4) "are working together to take advantage of all the graphic capabilities that the Xbox 360 has to offer, and what we're doing with Wolfenstein is creating this one, large empire that is seamlessly loaded to the player as he explores his world."

This will mark the first time that Id will develop a Wolfenstein away from the PC, but developer John Carmack is keen to put gamers at ease, claiming that "the Xbox 360 is the first console that I've ever worked with that actually has development tools that are better for games than what we've got for the PC."

Cloud added that the new Wolfenstein "is really a way of redefining the way first person games are experienced." Bold words, but with the release date of the game on the distant horizon we'll have to wait to see if Wolfenstein can truly evolve this over-populated genre. ...

These new screens will give you a good idea of just how huge the courses in Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam really are.

Although they're admittedly not the most detailed graphics we've ever seen on Wii, the geometry of these courses is pretty cool, especially considering you can skate and grind on almost everything you see, including rooftops and overhead rails - as also shown in these screens. One shot shows a player having leaped so high off a ramp that you can see the whole level in the background.

There's some two-player action in there too, with the final game set to include a number of multiplayer gameplay scenarios aside from the usual race mode.

After the hype surrounding Gears of War, and positive reviews, Microsoft expects the title to shift one million copies worldwide by Christmas.

Chris Lewis, regional VP E&D said: "Gears of War is a title we know will deliver on all of its promises, and we expect the game to reach 1 million copies faster than any new titles for Xbox.

"This Christmas is an extremely important one for the entire industry... We've put an enormous emphasis on bringing new and exciting titles to market, and Gears of War is a key example of Microsoft's commitment to developing original and immersive titles for gamers everywhere."

The question is, will it be the biggest next-gen game this Christmas, with Nintendo about to unleash the Wii and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to millions of eager fans this Christmas? Will they all be able to get a console? We'll see.

Epic's Mark Rein has also confirmed that more Gears multiplayer content is in the pipeline, but he couldn't (or wouldn't) reveal when it's expected to hit Live. ...

Voting closes Tuesday at 9 p.m. PST. The winning deal goes on sale Thursday at 11 a.m. PST. First come first served, its seems. This is only for Americans... the lucky so and so's...

    kupra post at DCIberia.net

    a poor online tranlation
Good, I comment to you that almost I have finished the programming of the menu. They lacked some small cochairs and in the end I have been able to fix bugs.

I am dedicating myself to modulate the motor because it had parts that did not know where they left and there am tendio that to cut and to cut not to lose to me.

I comment to you that although slow, the project follows ahead. I teach a pair to you of imagenes.

I will like to pass a beta version so that testeéis. Soon... in a moment...

This seems to be an original homebrew game based on 1942 and not a port. Maybe one of our Spanish speaking friends could help translate this better for us ...

kid101skater of DeviantPSP has just created his own Flashing Application for the PSP. Currently it has support for 1.50 and 2.71SE, and it has been extensively tested. You have to remember that with all Flash modifying tools you can brick your PSP, so be extremely careful using these kinda of programs.

Currently the files have to be on the root of your memory stick for it to flash them, if the files are missing it will give you an error message and exit back to the XMB. Lets thank Lil13Lazin for doing the graphics aswell.

    Current Features:
    • Flash a Gameboot
    • Flash Font
    • Flash 01.bmp

    Features to come:
    • Ability to flash all Wallpapers
    • Flash Dumper

Warning: As with all flash modifying tools, this can brick your PSP, so be very careful when using this. Also kid101skater, DeviantPSP, and DCEmu are not responsible if your PSP bricks because of this.
