Preface: This is just a side project whilst I am working on my main one (which isn't PSP related). This is being done for several reasons:

    1. Learn Lua
    2. See if LuaPlayer or Lua can handle a RTS system on its own (which it honestly looks like it can't).
    3. As a welcome distraction to the main project.

I haven't tested it on a PSP but it works fine in LuaPlayer for Windows. I appreicate if someone can tell me the FPS when 'played' in the PSP's Luaplayer.

At the moment only basic scrolling and radar really work but a lot of the framework is there so the new features won't take much doing.

The graphics were taken from the author of CS Stratergised (sp?) which are from C&C. However the code is my own taken from various sources.

Edit: I have just found that there was a Starcraft Lua RTS where the menu graphic seems to be from. Apologies.

Edit2: The menu graphic seems to be from Fallout.

[Minor Update 2006-06-12]: Fixed a major coding error where I my member variables weren't acting as member variables but as globals. Added interactivity with the radar. Try pressing circle on it . Also switched the debug button from L to Select.

    Posted at dreamcast-scene.com

At DreamCon Goat Announced 12 Dreamcast games to be published for the year 2006/2007. So far details are sparse. Recently the team responsible for the upcoming game “Samurai Warrior” made a surprise appearance at out forum and enlightened us about the upcoming game.

Hey everyone! Actually Samurai Warrior is officially named as "Yumi: Samurai Warrior" and that is my game ^^. Basically I asked Roel from Senile Team permission to use BoR as a basis for an original game using a very enhanced engine of "BoRHED" first coded off of Openbor by Kirby2000 and carried over by Lord Ball. Fugue, SamuraiX and Lord Ball will be the primary "builders" of this new engine.

The game is based on a very ancient 12th century japanese samurai named Tomoe Gozen. Her life itself is in mystery but what I've "deciphered" so far is that she comes into life like a fast wind and leaves just as fast. That leaves me alot of room to work with.

I "ceremonially" introduced myself at the show to "Mr. Dan" with these graphics on my custom t-shirt that I made.

I'm not sure if my introduction at the show was a laugh or...odd or whatever but it was cool to actually introduce the mod myself Of course, Dan would probably have it that way since I kind of threw the idea at him fast but now that I have the official approval from GOAT, I'm rolling with it!

Basically Yumi (the samurai in this game) will introduce herself early on as an assassin and in the first level I'm going to try to throw in alot of new elements from the get go, especially the stealth system I talked about at the show. The game will then throw Yumi into the legendary Genpai war; that'll choose the first Shogun of Japan.

The art style I'm going to go for is going to be similar to Okami (if you're familiar with the Flash game on the clover studios website) and if you look at any ancient woodblock painting or wallscroll, that's what I'd like to go for as well. Slighty anime-ish.

Like I said over at BoR Rev, I'll post an offical thread about the game later hopefully with wip screenshots and things to show you guys just how original I want to make this game. I might refer to this game as a bor mod, but when I'm done, I hope that the notion of this game still being based on BoR will be a small memory.

The Modchipstore.com have revealed that they are stocking the Undiluted Platinum Modchip and also selling Premodded PSPs, heres the info:

Sony PSP Undiluted Platinum (U.P.) PSP Mod Chip - World's First PSP ModChip!

The Undiluted Platinum PSP Mod Chip is packed full of features. It is every gamer's dream to have a modded PSP that will play all Homebrew Games, Movies, and Apps. The Mod Chip will Unbrick any previously Bricked PSP because of its 2nd flash on the board. It is hands down the BEST breakthrough in the gaming industry today.

The U.P. (Undiluted Platinum) PSP ModChip is a flash replacement system for the Sony PSP™ which allows the use of previous flash updates or custom firmware builds, This ability creates the opportunity to run unsigned homebrew code on even the latest Sony PSP Handheld Portable. There is no more need for Unreliable Hacked Firmware. The U.P. contains 32MB NAND flash which is programmable from a PC via USB Cable with user friendly software. The Dual-Boot Feature of the U.P. PSP Mod Chip allows you to boot from the PSP's Onboard Flash, or the one mounted on the Undiluted Platinum PSP ModChip; You can tell your PSP which Flash to use by a single button being pressed during power-up. Hold L1 during power up to boot from PSP flash, or dont hold anything to boot from U.P Flash Default. Since U.P. provides a secondary flash which the PSP can boot from, it can even be used to restore a PSP which has been "bricked". Every effort has been made to make our flash updater software, which will be freely available for download, both as easy to use and reliable as possible. The software also contains diagnostics which can be used by installers to determine if an installation has been successful or not.

News and Release of a new RPG for the PSP by Tregesoft, heres the info from the FAQ:

What type of game is it?: It is an RPG. It is single player, however we might look into using ad-hoc for something down the road. The game will not be a tradional linear RPG, but an open path game, kinda like Oblivion, only with 2D graphics, and a budget of $20 (est). The game will have a central plot, but will focus on the ability to do it mostly at your own pace, and have many side-quests and full-game quests (eg rare item collections and sequential side-quests).

IGN has posted the E3 video of the 10-minute Rainbow Six: Vegas trailer that ran periodically during E3. What's different this time around, however, is that the video is in HD and you don't have to listen to thousands of people while trying to watch it. Instead, you only have to listen to a few folks providing solid commentary on the trailer. The page for the video can be accessed -->

The 360's 180 was one of the main reasons US game sales for May 2006 were only $286 million, 10 percent below May 2005. NPD figures also fingered weaker-than-expected sales of titles for the PSP, which has seen its momentum slow in recent months. The report also said that sales of DS titles were weaker than expected, even though the number one game for the month was New Super Mario Bros., which generated nearly $9.5 million in sales all by itself.

Overall, what NPD terms "current-generation" software--Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Game Boy Advance games--slid $96 million to just $188 million for the month, versus May 2005. "Next-generation" software--Xbox 360, DS, and PSP games--hauled in a combined $98 million, far below Wedbush Morgan Securties' analyst Michael Pachter's estimates.

And, according to Pachter, May may only be the beginning. "We think that this trend foreshadows continuing weak sales until the holidays, as we expect continued monthly year-over-year declines of 30-40 percent for current-generation software sales, with next-generation software sales growth failing to offset these declines," he wrote in a report issued today. ...
