In the Powerbook department we should look forward to higher resolution displays — but no widescreen iBook yet, though sources expect all portable Macs will be sporting widescreens by next year. This is what fans of the PSP have wanted for ages, Sycross has made WIndows Mobile for PSP and while it looks great and all the real killer part about it is the fact theres 58 (heck yeah) games and applications for use on PSP Consoles with the V2.0 Firmware, the games include such Classics as Tetris, Chess and Pacman.

This was around the mainstream websites yesterday but i was waiting for a reputable PSP site with japanese connections/newsposters to post it and divulge more accurate information and luckily the rather excellent PSP Vault came to the rescue:

Thanko has announced the "PSP Wireless Headset," a set of wireless headphones you can use with your PSP. They're pretty cheap at 1,480 yen (~$13 USD), but there is also a pretty big downside: they don't support stereo audio. This is quite a downer for those of us who thought this would be really awesome to use with PSPRadio. FM is used to transmit the audio to the headphones, so you don't need to worry about it interfering with your WiFi.

The first GP2X Dev Donation Fund was a great success, and I'm happy to report that Skeezix (see CodeJedi.com) will be receiving one of the first GP2X's from GP32Z.com later this month as a result of everyone's generosity!

Now we're getting ready to choose the next candidate for a GP2X donation. Once we have several possible candidates, we'll hold a vote to choose the final candidate - and then if enough people donate, you get your shiny new GP2X just like Skeezix! If you're a handheld developer, would like a GP2X but can't really afford one just yet, and meet the requirements of the following rules, please let me know:

1) Must have publically dev'd for a handheld before. Preferably GP32, but other ARM based handhelds like Zodiac and GBA are acceptable backgrounds as well. Providing a list of your work to convince people to vote for you is a good idea.

2) Must express real interest in dev'ing for GP2X. The donation is both a recognition of your past work, and also a hope for future work. A description of what you might like to do on GP2X would probably help your chances of being voted for as well, but you certainly need not reveal any secret projects.

I've just released a tool I wrote, in its released version 1.0 it's intended to extract Vertex-, face- and mapping-data from a 3ds file and throw the data into individual binary files, which I use in my projects.

The release is intended as a source release because it is likely people will want to put the data in their own format, which i've tried to make as straight forward as possible. There is the binary version that I use myself.

This tool can be used for more than GCN work.

Reesy has modified OpenSNES for the GP32 once more. OpenSNES is a Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulator. Here is a partitial quote of the recent changes:
I have succeded in improving the current sound core, I moved the sound rendering to a DMA interrupt driven system. A section of sound is now rendered and played using a DMA, when the DMA completes it uses a interrupt to render some more code to play. Its a very clean setup and saves having to do all the messing around that Yoyofr had to do before in order to get clean sound.

I've also noticed that there must be a bug in the "fastmode" option on the video menu because then this in enabled the sound crackles and when it is off the sound is clear.

I've still got to fix the BLU+ and saving problems but here is another release for people to play with.
