Another PS3 update, another round of complaints. It seems as if people on the official Playstation forums are having issues with discs not reading, games locking up, and fans blowing out of control under the recent 2.42 firmware update. We don't know if it's just uber-paranoid people who were burned by 2.40 or an actual problem that Sony will need to fix. What about you—any problems with the 2.42 update or are things just peachy?
I have a hard time believing this since the firmware has been out a while people just like to blame their problems on the firmware
I have never had a problem with firmware updates. I truly believe it is faulty hardware that is to blame for any firmware update. Be it hard drive corruption, or bad Blu-ray lens.
I haven't had an issue with my PS3 either, some people are just quick to point their finger when something goes wrong.
I've had firmwares 2.41 and 2.42 installed on mine, and none of them caused issues that I know of. It's a 40 GB Hong Kong import used in Europe.
I can't see why some are complaining about the 2.42 update, my 60GB Euro launch model works perfectly with it. I can't see any problems with the firmware right now. Hell, even the 2.40 update that did have problems with a small number of machines didn't stop my PS3 from working.
Me neither... I've updated to 2.40, 2.41 and 2.42 with no trouble at all.
