1. Colossal Cave (one of the first games ON the PC and the granddaddy of Infocom text adventures)
2. Wolfenstein 3D (the granddaddy of FPS)
3. Kings Quest 1 (the granddaddy of modern full-graphic adventure games)
4. Nethack (granddaddy of graphic RPGs and has been ported to almost EVERY hardware platform in existance)
5. Console and computer system emulators
You have to give credit where the great "firsts" have put us today as well as recognize those programs that keep classic games and the computer systems they were played on alive.
