Just updated my PSP with dark alexs firmware 5.00 and tried to access the playstation store and it says A SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE IS NEEDED... any ideas guys

wasn't 5.01 released today?
Ideas? Well, try updating to 5.00 M33-2 from here. Perhaps that gets around the firmware requirement problem (for now anyway).
