Has there been any progress to bring an English menu to the Japanese DSi?

I want to get a DSi while on my study abroad since I won't be around for the US release. The only annoyance is the Japanese only menu, which I can deal with but would rather have it in English. I just want to know if anyone has tried doing hacks to the DSi firmware at all that could allow for this. There probably won't be much big development in this till the English Firmware is out, then we might see from homebrewers or maybe even Nintendo themselves the ability to change the language to English.

Also another thing I'm hoping is being look at, which again won't happen till the English DSi store go live, but a way to connect to it with the Japanese DSi, I'd like to keep my Japanese store though as well.

I just want to know if this is possible with the Acekard 2i, to mod the firmware.
