.deTuned Announced

The PlayStation Network is a special place in the digital download scene. While Xbox Live sticks with mainstream titles and Nintendo's Virtual Console dishes out the oldies, the PlayStation Store has given PS3 owners some very unique items. From the beautiful Flower to the bizarre Linger in the Shadows, the PSN has your experimental numbers covered.

Today on the official PlayStation Blog, Senior Producer at Sony Santa Monica Studios Rusty Buchert made a post announcing a new project from .theprodukkt. Titled .deTuned, this experimental software will let players create custom visuals to music from their XMB and even augment the audio in the process. The premise sounds incredibly appealing, so we're eager for more details.

I've been impressed with their demos before - it's astounding what they can pack into a few KB. This looks quite interesting... kinda neat that Sony encourages left-field stuff like this.
